Oh my! The most low rent room I've ever stayed at. The room literally stunk from stale cigarettes or something. Basic amenities. No trash receptacles at all and although I did ask for that and had to even ask for washcloths/hand towels, trash receptacle was not provided. Walls painted purple and green appeared to be splashed with 'something' ? (didn't want to know what!) Sheets appeared clean but pillowcases were stained up and didn't look clean. The wall mounted TV worked but turning on/off and the volume control had to be done on the TV itself, the TV remote only changed the channels - quite a pain after a hard day's work and being super tired. Cops in parking lot talking to one of the other guests.....Oh, and the room ran $90 some bucks to boot. I will say the bathroom appeared clean even though there was no toilet paper holder and the toilet paper had to sit on the edge of the tub. If we hadn't been exhausted from a labor filled day of moving and just needed a bed to sleep in overnight, we definitely would not have stayed. Super icky place.

For us Arizonans, the American Executive Inn Mesa is primarily suitable as a highly budget-conscious option when the absolute priority is affordability and a basic place to lay your head. If you're undertaking a short-term project in Mesa, need an overnight crash pad during a move, or are visiting family nearby and simply require a very inexpensive place to sleep and shower, this hotel could fit the bill. Its low price point, often around $90 or less, makes it accessible when other options are too costly or unavailable. The inclusion of an AC that "worked great" is a critical, non-negotiable feature in Arizona's heat, and its effectiveness is a definite plus for local comfort.
The presence of microwaves and refrigerators in rooms (and some kitchenettes) is another practical benefit for locals, allowing for simple meal prep or storage of leftovers, which further helps manage costs during a stay. Its location on West Main Street offers straightforward driving access to various parts of Mesa and nearby communities, making it convenient if you have your own transportation and are familiar with the area's layout.
However, it's crucial for locals considering this option to manage their expectations. Reviews highlight significant concerns about cleanliness (e.g., "stale cigarettes," "filthy carpet," "cockroaches," "stained pillowcases," "food spilled on microwave tray"), maintenance issues (e.g., "holes in the wall," "windows didn't lock," "no toilet paper holder"), and occasional operational shortcomings (e.g., remote issues, lack of trash receptacles). The descriptions suggest a facility that caters to basic needs rather than comfort or extensive amenities. Therefore, for Arizonans, this hotel is best suited for those in a pinch who need a very inexpensive, no-frills, and purely functional overnight stay, where the primary objective is simply a bed and a working AC, and one is prepared to overlook significant aesthetic and cleanliness issues. It's a pragmatic choice for specific, limited circumstances, rather than a recommended option for leisure or extended comfort.

Mar 25, 2025 · Michelle AshleyThis place doesn’t deserve a star of any kind. If you’ve read any of the reviews that are honest about this place mine won’t be different. Reserved two nights here and I’ve never been in a more unhelpful or unclean place. I reserved a smoke free room. The room I was given reeked of smoke. There were holes in the wall. Carpet was filthy. Fridge wasn’t cleaned out and there were cock roaches everywhere in the bathroom and in the tub. I did not stay the night. I returned my key immediately to the man at the office and was not offered a different room I asked him for a refund and he said I had to work with the online agency that I reserved my stay through. Well three days later the hotel is not responding to the requested refund. If I don’t hear from them soon they will be reported to the Better Business Bureau. I’m shocked a place with these standards is still in business.
Mar 09, 2025 · Bryce YatesMy room was clean, the staff was kind and helpful. I only have one issue and it's my TV didn't work. The issue didn't get fixed. I enjoyed my stay in Messa
Jun 15, 2025 · Alesia BrownWorst hotel ever. No hot water. I asked and the person at the desk said it would be fixed, but it never was. I couldn't take a shower due to no hot water. The sink's drain was connected with packing tape, surely a code violation. Cockroaches on the wall. Ceiling light was just a hole in the ceiling and a light stuck in there. The room stank. The bed was dirty, the towels left over from the 50's, so thin. If my wife had been with me we would have left to find a decent hotel and just counted it a loss. It stank bad of old hotel and God only knows. Book at your own risk, you have been warned. Deserves 100 negative stars. Should be condemned. I like to be kind with reviews, but can't in good conscience do that here.
Apr 03, 2025 · Scot OsborneWhen we got there, there were issues with finding our booking reservation. We had to call Expedia and be on the phone for around 15 minutes before that was settled. Then, we had to switch rooms because even though the first room was non-smoking, the room smelt like someone JUST smoked cigarettes in there. The second room’s shower was broken. The only setting it had was extremely cold and scalding hot water. The only thing the front desk lady said for the hot water is that “Our maintenance person isn’t here. He’ll have to fix it tomorrow.” Even though we were leaving the next day. I don’t recommend coming here unless you’re absolutely desperate for a room. I feel like I wasted my money on this place.
