Everything's broken. The entire place is a massive health department violation. There's no hot tub. No fitness room. Bathrooms with "out of order" signs. The pool isn't filled or filtered and is horrible health department violation, and someone tried putting chlorine tabs in the sides which aren't even in the current water level so it's not even treated or cleaned. Breakfast? Nutrigrain bars and a coffee pot they fill once. Someone needs to shut the place down until they follow regulations.

Avalon hotel Introduce

Located at 1009 W Park Ave, the Avalon hotel has a long history in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The property has undergone several name changes and ownership transitions over the years, and its identity is often tied to its past as a conference center and a destination for events. However, based on recent public data and customer feedback, the current state of the hotel and the experience it offers guests are a source of significant concern. It is important for local users in Wisconsin to have a clear and factual understanding of what to expect before making a booking. The information available suggests a property that is in a state of flux, with notable discrepancies between advertised amenities and the reality of the guest experience. While the hotel's long-standing presence in the community is a part of its story, the most recent accounts paint a picture of a facility that may not be meeting current standards for hospitality and guest comfort.

The hotel's reputation has been shaped by a mix of historical context and recent customer experiences. Many locals may remember the hotel from its previous iterations and its role in the community. However, current reviews from visitors who have recently stayed at the property present a different narrative. These reviews frequently highlight a number of issues, from broken amenities to cleanliness concerns. One customer, for example, described their experience with a room that did not match their booking, a thin bed blanket, and an overwhelming odor of marijuana in the lobby. Another review from a different guest was even more critical, stating that "everything's broken" and that the entire place was a "massive health department violation." These firsthand accounts are crucial for setting realistic expectations for anyone considering a stay here, and they suggest that the hotel's current condition is a significant factor in the guest experience. The friendly demeanor of the staff, as noted by some, appears to be one of the few positive points consistently mentioned, but it often does not outweigh the larger issues guests have faced.

The location and accessibility of the Avalon hotel are arguably its strongest and most consistent assets. Situated at 1009 W Park Ave, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729, USA, the hotel is well-placed for those visiting the area. It is conveniently located near major roadways, making it easy to access for people traveling from other parts of Wisconsin. For instance, the hotel is just a few miles from the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport, making it a convenient choice for visitors flying into the region. Additionally, its position in Chippewa Falls places it within a short driving distance of local landmarks and attractions, such as the Chippewa River Distillery, Riverfront Park, and the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. The hotel's proximity to these popular spots means that guests have easy access to the vibrant culture and recreational opportunities that the Chippewa Falls area has to offer.

However, it is important for potential guests to be aware that while the location is convenient, the hotel's facilities may not provide the amenities they expect after a day of sightseeing. The ease of getting to the hotel is a positive, but the on-site experience is what ultimately defines a stay. The reviews indicate that this is where the property falls short. It is a location that gets you close to where you want to be in Chippewa Falls, but the quality of the stay may not live up to the expectations set by a prime location. This is a crucial distinction for locals who might be looking for a comfortable and reliable base from which to explore the region.

Services Offered:

  • Friendly Staff: Several reviews note that the people working at the hotel were "nice enough," with one guest highlighting their friendliness and welcoming nature.
  • Limited Breakfast: The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast, but recent accounts describe it as extremely limited, consisting mainly of "Nutrigrain bars and a coffee pot they fill once."
  • Room Amenities: Rooms are advertised with a private bathroom, air conditioning, heating, and a flat-screen TV. However, guest reviews mention issues with the functionality of some of these amenities, such as a lack of a bed blanket and broken features.
  • Guest Parking: The hotel offers on-site parking, which is a convenient service for guests traveling by car.
  • Check-in and Check-out: While one guest had an issue with their room not matching their booking, the hotel has staff present for check-in. It is important to note that the front desk may not always be attended, according to some reports.

Features and Highlights:

  • Spacious Rooms: Some older reviews and public data mention that the rooms are spacious, which can be a highlight for guests needing more space. However, recent reviews suggest this is not always a consistent experience, as one guest mentioned receiving a room with a single bed and a pull-out couch despite booking for two queens.
  • On-site Bar/Restaurant: The hotel has an on-site restaurant and pub called Bridgewater Restaurant and Pub, which is a convenient feature for guests who prefer to dine without leaving the property.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Based on some public data, the hotel is pet-friendly, allowing pets in specific rooms for an additional charge. This is a valuable feature for those traveling with animal companions.
  • Meeting and Event Space: The hotel has historically been known for its conference and banquet facilities, which could be a highlight for those planning events in the area.
  • Convenient Location: As mentioned, the hotel's location on W Park Ave provides easy access to downtown Chippewa Falls and its attractions, as well as major roads for travel.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents of Wisconsin, the Avalon hotel in Chippewa Falls is a local business with a rich history, but it is one that requires careful consideration before booking. The primary reason it may be suitable for some locals is its convenient location. If you need a place to stay in Chippewa Falls for a single night and prioritize being close to the area's attractions, the hotel's address is certainly a benefit. The on-site Bridgewater Restaurant and Pub provides a place for a meal and a drink without the need to travel, which can be appealing. However, it is crucial to temper expectations regarding the quality of the amenities and the overall condition of the property. The numerous negative reviews from recent guests suggest that the hotel may not be the best choice for those seeking a comfortable, clean, and reliable stay. Instead, it may be a last-minute, budget-conscious option where the primary benefit is its proximity to local sites. While a hotel’s history in the community is a point of local pride, the current customer feedback indicates that a stay at the Avalon hotel is a gamble, and guests should be prepared for potential issues with the facilities. For locals, there are likely other lodging options in the area that can provide a more consistent and reliable experience.

We were in town for a wedding, and the wife booked this hotel through Expedia. The people working there were nice enough, but we ordered a room with two queen beds, and got a single bed with a pull out couch. I wasn't a big fan of walking into the lobby at night and being smacked in the face with the overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from somewhere close to the lobby, definitely inside. The bed blanket, if you can call it that, was hilariously thin. Thank goodness the weather this weekend warmed up, I can't imagine trying to get warm if it was freezing outside. It wasn't the worst I've stayed in, but if i ever come back out this way, I won't be staying there.

I am not one to leave negative reviews if I’ve had a bad experience but this one I feel needs to be shared. I was simply trying to rent a conference room for my daughter‘s third birthday party that would have about 20 guests. I did not think that would be a daunting task considering the Avalon hosts larger, more upscale events like weddings and banquets. When I initially tried to call I selected the option off their phone tree to talk to the event coordinator however each time I tried calling it rang to her voicemail and her voicemail is full. So I tried the front desk and I talked to a helpful lady who said I would have to come in and meet with them which I thought was interesting considering it would be a small party And I only need a small conference room. I agreed to come in the following Tuesday, however I was sick that Tuesday. I called to explain why I won’t be there and I then asked the man at the front desk to have the manager call me back with information on the room rental. He said the manager would and they never did. I called back the following Thursday and I spoke to the same lady at the front desk she said oh I’m so sorry I’ll have her call you. No call. I called again today, Friday, three separate times throughout the day and I spoke to the same lady at the front desk each time she apologized and said I’m so sorry The manager will call you. Apparently the manager was never in the hotel throughout the day for the past two weeks? The last time I called I could even hear the lady at the front desk trying to dial the manager on her cell phone. It is now almost 7 o’clock and she has not called me. All I wanted to know is how much it would cost to rent a conference room for a small party! I do not understand how this venue can host events when this is how the business is run. The front desk people seemed to be helpful but apparently your manager needs some training. I understand short staffing however it has been two weeks since the first time I contacted the hotel, this is just negligence. Would not recommend hosting events at this location.

They say they have Continental breakfast and they don't have it. The restaurant is not open. The room I got has an exit to the outside but the key don't work to go back into the room through the outside door we have to walk around the hotel to get in to the room. They didn't tell me that so I locked the door the to the hallway with the clasp and when out the outside door so I was locked out of my room from 4 PM till 2 AM. There is no communication between staff. I am so exhausted. I will never stay here again.

This place is a complete dump!!! Out dated, dirty, the stench of mildew is overwhelming as soon as you walk through the front door! The staff at the front desk, or the lack there of, is ridiculous! I checked in, and checked out an hour later! It's one of the cheapest places to stay in Chippewa Falls for a reason!!! Spend the extra $20.00 a night and stay at Americinn by Wyndham just down the road, you'll be glad you did, I was!!!
