My husband and I used to love coming to Bay Point for winter and fall weekend getaways for the past few years. After our experience in December for our anniversary weekend, never again. We checked in to a room that had a poop in the toilet and stains on the window seat pillows. The rest of the room seemed like it was cleaned, so I imagine a cleaner forgot to flush after doing their business and because it's relatively dated, they hadn't gotten around to changing the pillows. When I called the front desk to let them know what we found, they offered us a bottle of wine and asked if they could send a cleaner. We don't drink, so I asked what else they could do for us (expecting to offer to change our rooms, maybe take a % off). I was told there was nothing else that could be done. It was late, we were tired from traveling, so we went to eat and then to bed. The next day, their automated text came in asking about our stay. I replied back about the poop in the toilet and concerns nothing was done to remediate this. I was told to call the front desk. Again, told nothing could be done. After our stay, I completed a survey expecting SOMEONE in management might see, in writing, that we came to a dirty hotel room and reach out. It's been almost 2 months and we haven't heard a thing. We will not return to this hotel. It's really too bad, because the location is great but the service over the last year has really gone downhill. Very disappointing. Go up the street another 10 minutes to the next town -- their waterfront hotel is cleaner and service was much better.

Customer Reviews and Considerations

While Bay Point at Mill Falls often receives praise for its prime lakeside location and access to the amenities of the wider Mill Falls at the Lake resort, some recent customer reviews have highlighted areas for improvement. A recurring theme in feedback concerns cleanliness and service consistency. Some guests reported issues such as uncleanliness in rooms, including unflushed toilets and stained upholstery upon check-in, as well as a brief musty smell. There have also been mentions of mis-matched or uncomfortable furniture in rooms and maintenance issues like mold in spa tub jets, non-functional fireplaces, and uncleaned balconies. Furthermore, some guests have noted inconsistencies in amenities, such as only decaf coffee pods being available and a lack of shampoo in bathrooms. Issues with the check-in process, particularly having to check in at a different hotel a half-mile away, have also been a point of frustration for some. There have been reports of guests feeling that their concerns about room conditions were not adequately addressed by the front desk or management, leading to disappointment regarding customer service. Traffic noise from nearby routes 3 and 25 has also been mentioned as a potential disturbance.

Prospective visitors should be aware that while the location and access to resort-wide amenities like pools, dining, and spa services are often highly praised, recent feedback indicates that room upkeep and direct guest service at Bay Point specifically may vary. It is advisable for guests to verify the availability of specific amenities and confirm check-in procedures in advance. Choosing a room with a balcony facing the water is often recommended for the best experience of the picturesque surroundings. Guests are encouraged to inspect their rooms upon arrival and report any concerns immediately.

Maybe the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. It started with sitting through route 25 traffic, getting to the hotel and finding out that check in is actually in a different hotel a half mile away. So 20 minutes of traffic later, we get to an incompetent and understaffed check-in desk who had never even seen the place we were staying in, so couldn’t answer any questions about it. The room was full of ugly mis-matched uncomfortable furniture. The ‘fireplace’ produced no heat, and was controlled by an unmarked switch hidden behind the TV. There’s no room service, just a restaurant with take -out on the first floor, and no alcoholic drinks allowed to be brought back to the room. The jets in the spa tub were full of mold. The water tasted funky The coffee machine was stocked with 4 pods, all decaf The bathroom had soap, but no shampoo the balcony had a nice view, but looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all season. the traffic on 3 and 25 didn’t quiet down until after 11pm

I stayed here in winter. My room was spacious and had a nice view. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom could've been a little cleaner, and the balcony was covered in bird poop. Even though my stay was great, at my next visit I will stay at Church Landing. It's more lively and there are more offerings including a fun esspresso/cappuccino machine. There's also front desk reception there (there is not any staff on site at Bay Point.) The restaurant there is great, and the spa is nice.

Overall stay was good but a few things not so good. When we arrived carrying our bags into the hotel there is a notice on the desk to go check in up the street at their sister hotel. Pretty annoying we didn’t know this ahead of time and had to carry everything back and drive up the street. Rooms are pretty basic. Beds are comfy. Cleaning could be better- need to pay attention to details and wipe down walls. I went for a facial at cascade spa which was fantastic BUT the steam room is absolutely disgusting. The grout is filled with mold. Restaurant downstairs Lago was great. Food was delicious and service was a 10. Gets crazy busy so out your name on the list early! Not sure the price I paid was worth it but high season drives high prices I guess.

We stayed at the Bay Point section of Mill Falls and loved everything about it - the hotel was quiet, the room was large with both a fireplace and a balcony that overlooked the lake, and the location was fantastic. Because of covid-19 we were sort of limited as to what we could do but there is a Marketplace across the street with various shops and there are some places that have outdoor dining. Twin Barns Brewery is a short ride away (it was too busy for us) and One Love Brewery is right up the road if you enjoy sampling some tasty beers. We were just fine relaxing on the balcony watching the boats and tourists! Highly recommend.
