Don't believe the photos or their website. Glad we only booked one night here but wow. The pool is empty and decrepit looking. We were the ONLY guests booked here for the night. Booked almost a month in advance and they had no idea we were coming. Called the number listed on their website a few times and no one picked up, it just kept ringing. We were trying to let them know we were arriving at midnight but at least the website said there was front desk staff 24/7. We arrived close to midnight and the office was dark. There was one lone car in the lot. Luckily there was a ring doorbell and a number posted on the door. After ringing the doorbell a few times and calling the number a couple of times, someone finally came out in pajamas to let us in. Took a bit for them to find our reservation in their system (we had 3 rooms booked) but we finally got our room keys. There is NO free breakfast (website lied), no pool (it's totally empty and needs renovations) and the rooms were scary. Super thin walls so you hear all traffic and people from across the street. The room definitely had a weird smell to it. Bathroom was relatively clean and had some toiletries available. The door was very flimsy and definitely wouldn't have stopped anyone from shoving their way in. There is free wifi but I stuck to using my phone service. Would we go back here? No. It was walking distance to town but hard pass for ever coming back.
When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Lake George area, the Baymont by Wyndham Lake George, located at 439 Canada St, Lake George, NY 12845, USA, might appear in search results. The hotel can be contacted at (518) 685-5125 or via mobile at +1 518-685-5125. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the Baymont by Wyndham Lake George, based exclusively on the provided customer reviews, which present a stark and concerning picture of the establishment's environment, services, and features. It is critical to note that the information presented here is drawn directly from extremely negative guest experiences and should serve as a significant cautionary guide for prospective visitors.
The environment of the Baymont by Wyndham Lake George, despite its Canada Street address, which usually implies proximity to Lake George Village attractions, is described in a highly unfavorable light by recent guests. The primary issue highlighted is a significant discrepancy between the hotel's advertised appearance and its actual condition. Guests explicitly state, "Don't believe the photos or their website." The outdoor pool is described as "empty and decrepit looking," indicating a severe state of disrepair and a clear absence of an advertised amenity. The indoor pool area is also deemed "unusable" due to "fumes that burned our eyes and noses," suggesting poor ventilation or chemical imbalances, and the hot tub was "drained." This paints a picture of neglected facilities that severely detract from the expected recreational environment of a hotel, especially one branded under a known chain like Wyndham.
The operational environment and guest experience at check-in are also presented as highly problematic. One reviewer detailed arriving close to midnight to find the "office was dark" and "no one picked up" the phone number listed on the website, despite claims of 24/7 front desk staff. Accessing the hotel required ringing a doorbell and calling multiple times before staff, appearing "in pajamas," finally emerged. This indicates a severe lack of professionalism and readiness for guest arrivals, especially late at night. The difficulty in finding reservations in their system further points to organizational issues within their front desk operations.
The services and features, as experienced by the customers, are largely characterized by their absence or severe deficiencies, directly contradicting what might be advertised or expected from a Wyndham-branded property. A key feature listed on many hotel websites, "free breakfast," was found to be non-existent, with the reviewer stating, "website lied." The pools, as mentioned, were entirely non-functional. Beyond amenities, the core service of providing a clean and comfortable room was deeply compromised. One room was described as "infested with ants" and smelled "mildewy," with a "broken toilet seat." Another room "definitely had a weird smell to it." These are fundamental cleanliness and maintenance issues that are unacceptable for any lodging establishment.
The quality of the rooms themselves, beyond cleanliness, also received strong negative feedback. Walls were described as "super thin," leading to noise disturbances from "all traffic and people from across the street," indicating poor soundproofing. The room door was deemed "very flimsy and definitely wouldn't have stopped anyone from shoving their way in," raising serious security concerns. While free Wi-Fi was available, a guest expressed a preference for using their "phone service," suggesting unreliable or slow connectivity. The general impression of the rooms was "scary," a powerful descriptor that conveys a complete lack of comfort and safety.
Customer service, particularly in response to complaints, was highlighted as being severely deficient. When a guest complained about the broken toilet seat, ants, and other issues, the staff offered "no apology, no attempt to make it right, no taking notes about the broken toilet seat or ants; just a blank stare and taking our money." This constitutes a complete failure in basic hospitality, indicating a lack of training, empathy, or willingness to resolve guest issues. The inability or unwillingness of staff to manage noise complaints, specifically from a "motorcycle convention" partying loudly until 3:00 AM, further underscores a lack of effective management and guest comfort prioritization. This operational negligence creates a hostile environment for other guests.
Regarding promotional information, the reviews unequivocally state that guests should "Don't believe the photos or their website," and that the "website lied" about amenities like free breakfast and a functioning pool. This implies that any promotional materials or online descriptions of the Baymont by Wyndham Lake George are highly misleading and do not accurately reflect the current state of the property. Therefore, any implied "promotions" based on advertised features (like a pool or breakfast) are nullified by the reality described by guests. The experience reported suggests that the hotel is failing to deliver on even basic advertised features, making any discussion of formal promotional offers irrelevant without a fundamental overhaul of the property and its operations. The guests' strong recommendation "Would we go back here? No." and "hard pass for ever coming back" serves as the most potent "promotional" warning for potential visitors.
In conclusion, for local users seeking "Hotels Near Of Me," the Baymont by Wyndham Lake George, based solely on the provided customer reviews, appears to be an establishment with significant and widespread issues. These problems span from severely neglected facilities (non-functional pools) and misleading advertising to fundamental cleanliness concerns (ants, mildew smell, broken fixtures), alarming security issues (flimsy doors), and profoundly deficient customer service. The operational failures, including unresponsive front desk and an apparent unwillingness to address guest complaints, create an extremely negative and unsatisfactory guest experience. The reviews strongly advise against staying at this property, suggesting that the current state of the hotel falls far below acceptable standards for cleanliness, comfort, and service, making it an unsuitable option for nearly any traveler. Potential guests are urged to heed these warnings and seek alternative accommodations in the Lake George area.

Jul 22, 2023 · Caroline LOur entire stay here was a disappointment. Won't be staying at a Wyndham again. My family stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. We had stayed at this property for the same reason a few years ago when it was an Econolodge; expected the same level of stay or maybe better because of the new branding. We were greeted with the news that the outdoor pool was closed "because it had issues." The indoor pool area was unusable because of some sort of fumes that burned our eyes and noses while we were in the room and for about 15 minutes after we left; and the hot tube was drained. Our room was infested with ants (I'd attach the photo if I could) and smelled mildewy. Also the toilet seat was broken. A motorcycle convention was staying at the hotel, which is fine, but when they come in at 1:30AM and party loudly until 3:00AM someone from the staff should probably say something. The icing on the cake was when we complained the next morning, the staff did nothing; no apology, no attempt to make it right, no taking notes about the broken toilet seat or ants; just a blank stare and taking our money. If we were staying more than a night we would've taken whatever cancellation penalties we had to in order to find someplace else to stay.
Jun 27, 2021 · Adam HutchinsonThe first room we checked in to had a broken toilet handle and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The sink was clogged with hair, the safe was locked shut, the light bulb was out, and the wallpaper was peeling. We moved to another room that was adequate, however, the paint was peeling there too. The hotel advertised a hot breakfast and HBO; neither of which was available. The dirty laundry and trash was left out in front of the rooms for days and ants built colonies in front of the piles. Our key was deactivated several times, the outdoor pool was green, and the staff was non-communicative. No manners, no effort to welcome us or apologize for any of the issues. The ONLY reason we didn’t leave was because we have a dog and alternatives were non-existent.
Sep 02, 2021 · Cheri HannonThe location of the hotel is great; however, that is the only thing it has going for it. The building itself is in disrepair. It is dark, smells of mold and is dirty. The room was beyond disgusting, mold on the ceiling, dirty sheets and bed spread. The mattress had a huge blood stain on it, carpets were stained and didn’t appear to be vacuumed. The guest computer in the lobby had screen savers of a person flipping people off. We refused to stay here and booked another hotel down the road. Management refused a refund and said their hotel was clean. The pictures online do not do this place justice, please do yourself a favor and book your Lake George stay anywhere else.
Aug 15, 2022 · Andrew PhilbrookBooked a weekend at this place and called to verify information from previous posts. 1st the number linked to the site goes to a personal cell phone. No proper greeting to identify it is hotel. I asked the man in the phone if the pool was open and he stated no is closes for the year. I also inquired about the "free breakfast " and he stayed no hot breakfast just in room coffee. The listings are not accurate at all. Reservation was a pain to cancel but sounds like it was worth the trouble.
