We were not at all satisfied with our stay. The hotel and room that we stayed in needed a lot of maintenance. Management does not seem to be working very hard to make this property up to standard. The state of this hotel was not what I expected for a franchise in United States. I am very disappointed in Best Western. Inside our room: • We requested a pet-free room due to my girlfriend being allergic to dogs and cats. She got an allergic reaction on her skin, so I think pets had previously stayed in this room. • The curved shower curtain rod was loose from the wall, so the curtains would not stay shut. They kept sliding down the curved bar and this ended up getting water on the floor of the bathroom. • The shower head was broken and had very little flow, we needed to stand under it so that it dripped on top of us. • The towel rack was bent down, so the towels would barely stay on the rack Outside our room: • Two employees were smoking just outside the main entrance, we needed to walk through a smoke filled entryway • The waffle maker was out of order • The vending machine was mostly empty • There were 2 employees’ cars in the handicapped spots (neither had placards or handicapped plates) • The outdoor pool was very disgusting with a thick layer of dirt and leaves at the bottom • The concrete lid to a storm drain in the parking lot was slid to the side and the manhole was accessible. Kids could have fallen or climbed down.
For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the central Pennsylvania region, the Best Western Nittany Inn Milroy, located at 5 Commerce Dr, Milroy, PA 17063, USA, might appear as a potential option. As part of the globally recognized Best Western brand, it generally suggests a certain level of standard and service that travelers come to expect. However, an objective introduction requires a candid look at both the brand's general offerings and specific customer feedback pertaining to this particular establishment.
The "Hotels Near Of Me" search category is driven by convenience and immediate availability, and the Best Western Nittany Inn Milroy's location in Milroy places it within reasonable driving distance of larger towns and attractions in Mifflin County and beyond, including access to major routes that connect to State College and other areas of central Pennsylvania. Its position off a main road like US-322 would typically suggest easy access for travelers traversing the region.
The Best Western Nittany Inn Milroy is situated on Commerce Drive, which is typically indicative of a location designed for traveler convenience, often near highway exits or commercial areas. Milroy itself is a small community in Mifflin County, offering a more rural and quiet environment compared to larger urban centers. This provides a tranquil setting for guests looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of city life.
While the immediate surroundings of the hotel would likely consist of other businesses or perhaps some open spaces, the appeal of staying in Milroy often lies in its proximity to natural attractions and the relaxed pace of life. Guests might find easy access to local roads leading to hiking trails, fishing spots, or scenic drives characteristic of central Pennsylvania. However, specific environmental details from customer reviews highlight some concerning aspects related to the hotel's immediate exterior. The presence of employees smoking just outside the main entrance created a "smoke filled entryway," which is a negative environmental factor for non-smoking guests and can detract from the initial impression of the property. Additionally, the description of a "disgusting" outdoor pool with a "thick layer of dirt and leaves at the bottom" indicates a significant lack of upkeep in recreational areas, which severely impacts the perceived environment and usability of such facilities. The unsafe condition of a storm drain lid in the parking lot also points to a broader issue with property maintenance and safety.
Best Western hotels typically offer a range of amenities designed to ensure a comfortable stay. These generally include complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and standard in-room features. However, the customer reviews for Best Western Nittany Inn Milroy indicate significant deviations from expected standards across several key service and feature areas:
Room Maintenance and Cleanliness: A primary concern raised by guests is the poor state of maintenance within the rooms. Issues cited include a loose curved shower curtain rod leading to water spillage, a broken shower head with "very little flow," and a bent towel rack. These directly impact the functionality and comfort of the bathroom. Furthermore, the overall impression from a customer is that the hotel "needed a lot of maintenance" and was not "up to standard" for a franchise. While one might expect certain basic amenities to be consistently functional, these reviews suggest otherwise.
Pet Policy Adherence: A critical issue highlighted is the hotel's handling of pet-free room requests. A guest specifically requested a pet-free room due to allergies but experienced an allergic reaction, leading them to believe pets had previously stayed in the assigned room. This is a severe lapse in fulfilling guest requests and can have significant health implications for allergic individuals, directly contradicting the purpose of a "pet-free" designation.
Breakfast Service: While a complimentary breakfast is typically a standard Best Western offering, the review specifically states that the "waffle maker was out of order." This indicates a potential lack of readiness or maintenance of breakfast amenities, impacting the quality of the included meal service.
Vending Machines: The vending machine being "mostly empty" points to a lack of regular stocking and attention to guest convenience, which can be frustrating for travelers looking for quick snacks or drinks.
Parking and Safety: Concerns were raised about parking, with "2 employees’ cars in the handicapped spots (neither had placards or handicapped plates)," indicating a disregard for accessible parking regulations. Even more critically, an "outdoor pool was very disgusting" and a "concrete lid to a storm drain in the parking lot was slid to the side and the manhole was accessible," posing significant safety hazards, particularly for children. These issues reflect a serious neglect of property safety and maintenance.
Billing Issues: A highly alarming customer report mentions a "scam" attempt where a purchase of "two bottles of water" resulted in a credit card charge of "$350 dollars." This is an extremely serious accusation of fraudulent billing practices and would be a major red flag for any potential guest. Such an incident severely undermines trust and indicates potentially unethical business practices.
Management Engagement: The overarching sentiment from a review is that "Management does not seem to be working very hard to make this property up to standard," and that the state of the hotel was "not what I expected for a franchise in United States." This suggests a systemic issue with oversight and property upkeep.
As a Best Western property, the Nittany Inn Milroy would typically participate in the Best Western Rewards loyalty program. This program allows members to earn points for eligible stays, which can then be redeemed for free nights, gift cards, or other rewards at Best Western hotels worldwide. Travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and who are members of Best Western Rewards would generally look to leverage their points or earn new ones during their stay.
While Best Western, as a brand, frequently offers various promotions such as seasonal discounts, advance purchase rates, AAA/AARP member discounts, and extended stay deals, it is crucial for potential guests of this particular property to exercise extreme caution. Given the severe negative feedback regarding maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and particularly the alleged fraudulent billing, any promotional information should be considered secondary to verifying the hotel's current operational standards and resolving any concerns prior to booking. Prospective guests are strongly advised to contact the hotel directly at (717) 667-9595 or +1 717-667-9595 to inquire about specific room conditions, maintenance efforts, current pet policies, and to confirm any billing practices before committing to a reservation. It is essential to ensure that any promotions are genuinely beneficial and not overshadowed by significant issues with the hotel's fundamental operations and guest safety. The reviews suggest that current conditions may not align with typical Best Western brand expectations.

Apr 10, 2025 · amy lynneWe stayed here on an overnight stop. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was fine, with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good. I can not speak to other amenities. One note, the room did not have up to date phone charger outlets. But it made for a good place to stop and rest while on a drive.
Jan 30, 2024 · Eric KaariI have stayed as a guest at Best Western Nittany Inn on two different occasions, and I was satisfied with both visits. Price is ultimately important to me, but cleanliness serves as my first priority above anything factors that I take into consideration when choosing a hotel. With the increasing cost of a goods night's sleep away from home, I need to be comfortable and unafraid of taking any unwanted guests home with me. Best Western Nittany Inn provides that. They also serve a slightly above average Continental breakfast that has been included in the cost of my accommodations both times. A free breakfast that allows me to begin my day with the advantage of nourishment until lunch time is a great convenience most travelers, I clouding myself enjoy.
