Elizabeth was very greeting at the front desk and helped me obtain my room very quickly. Shawn assisted me with some very delicious local IPAs. Overall, it’s been a five-star hotel from start to finish and I will be returning soon!

Nestled on a lushly landscaped property at the tip of Prouts Neck, it is "surrounded by water on three sides," offering mesmerizing and "constantly shifting seascape" views. Two sandy beaches, Ferry Beach and Scarborough Beach (also known as Jordan's Beach), flank the property, providing diverse options for beach-goers. Complimentary manager's receptions are offered on select days. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, concierge services, daily housekeeping, morning coffee, tea, and pastries served in the lobby, and afternoon tea also served in the lobby. From a promotional standpoint, Black Point Inn positions itself as a premier destination for those seeking "luxury" and "old world charm" combined with modern amenities. The emphasis on its historic character, dating back to 1878, appeals to travelers looking for a unique and authentic Maine experience. The inn frequently highlights its "unhurried pace, gracious charm, and attentive service" as hallmarks of its hospitality. Special packages and offers are often available, such as "Midweek Specials" offering discounts on multi-night stays during certain months, or themed packages like "Romance Package" (including chocolate-covered strawberries, cheese plate, wine, and floral arrangements) and "Relaxation Package" (with fruit, bubbly, and robes). Promotional imagery consistently showcases the stunning ocean views, the inviting outdoor pool, and the elegant interiors. Testimonials often praise the "beautiful location, beautiful facilities," and the "attentive staff" at the front desk and other areas, despite some isolated concerns about dining service. The ability to enjoy activities like the Cliff Walk, private beach access, and golf, all within close proximity, is a significant promotional advantage. The inn is also recognized as a Maine Certified Environmental Leader, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability with initiatives like geothermal heating and cooling, and responsible sourcing of seafood. Note: This review is only for the restaurant. The dining room manager needs to chill. Scolding your staff on the dining room floor is MUCH more embarrassing than a tray being left out. We went for Sunday lunch, the manager was making snide, unnecessary comments and scolding his staff. Our food took nearly 2 hours to come out and everything was very cold. However I will say the clam chowder was some of the best I ever had. The drinks and the rest of the staff were great as well.

Enjoyed lunch on the porch. Beautiful view. Food was very tasty, our server was great. The salmon rice bowl, grilled shrimp salad, and fish tacos were all very good. Visited on July 2 and online reservation worked quickly. Be sure to walk around the area, there is a pretty walk way along the ocean.

The location is gorgeous, views phenomenal. Our table of 3 ate there for lunch. We had an order of the soup of the day (good, duck and barley), the chowder (pasty/thick and not served hot), 2 orders of the mussels starters and an order of fish tacos. The mussels were fine (not extraordinary, but not bad, the bread for dipping was oily and spongy instead of crusty). The tacos, however, were a disaster. Pallid and barely warm nuggets of fish of unknown origin, which could have come out of a grocery store freezer, on a soft corn taco shell that was not even warmed. I think the best I can say about this is that it didn't poison us. I've had better food in public school cafeterias, but this order was $19. I don't expect much of a touristy restaurant, but this item was so outstandingly awful I felt compelled to write about it. This item should be taken off the menu until it can be executed passably; there's no excuse for subjecting more clients to this dish.

Don’t bother coming in unless you’re from a privileged walk of life. Made a reservation 6 weeks before we were there and told we could only sit on the porch if we came at 5 pm. Arrived at 4:50 pm to an empty restaurant. We were seated in the back. When I said I requested outside seating and that is why we are there at 5 pm the hostess told me they can’t accommodate a party our size (9) on the porch and if I want a view sit on the side of the table where you can see outside. Was annoyed but had our dinner. We spent over 700 dollars on sub par food. When we went to the lawn to enjoy a drink after dinner I noticed that there was a party of 10 who had just arrived and was seated on the porch 2 hours after our arrival. When I went to the bathroom I mentioned something to the hostess who called over the manager. I said I wanted to provide feedback if they could give me the information for the food and beverage manager. The manager of the evening spoke down to me and was extremely rude cutting me off several times saying the party on the porch were customers for over 20 years. It is very clear unless you’re a regular you are not valued and you should take your business elsewhere. When those customers of 20 years no longer are around they’ll most likely have no more new customers.
