We had to make a late stop due to a long trip, and this was all we found near us. We walk in and see the walls and floors are filthy. A pin was left on the floor and went through my foot. The bathroom sink cupboard was FILLED with mold. There was dead bugs everywhere. Windows wide open. You could tell they were trying to air it out from mildew. Beds were cardboard. You could feel the springs. Highly recommend going anywhere else.
When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the vicinity of Cooperstown, NY, potential guests may come across Budget Inn, located at 498 Rt-20 sharonsprings near, Cooperstown, NY 13326, USA. It is important to provide an objective introduction to this establishment based on available customer feedback, as reviews offer critical insights into the actual guest experience. The Budget Inn operates under the premise of providing basic accommodation, and understanding its reported environment, services, and features is crucial for informed decision-making.
The environment of Budget Inn, as depicted by recent customer reviews, presents significant concerns regarding cleanliness and upkeep. Guests have reported encountering "filthy" walls and floors upon entry. Specific instances include finding a "pin... left on the floor" that caused injury and the bathroom sink cupboard being "FILLED with mold." Furthermore, observations of "dead bugs everywhere" and windows left "wide open" with the apparent intention to "air it out from mildew" suggest prevalent issues with sanitation and maintenance within the rooms. The overall atmosphere described by guests is one of poor cleanliness and a pervasive unpleasant odor, indicating a substantial deviation from standard hygiene expectations for lodging establishments. The discrepancy between online pictures and the actual room condition has also been noted by a guest, who stated that "their pictures online are fake," suggesting that the visual representation may not accurately reflect the current state of the property. This feedback paints a picture of an environment that is not conducive to a comfortable or pleasant stay, particularly for those prioritizing hygiene and a well-maintained space.
The services at Budget Inn, particularly those related to guest interaction and payment processing, have also been a point of significant concern in customer feedback. One review details a highly contentious interaction with the owner during a cancellation process. The guest reported that the owner "refused to listen" when questioned about using an "old fashioned machine that takes an imprint of your credit card," despite the presence of a modern card machine. The owner's refusal to return the credit card imprint and subsequent aggressive behavior, involving ripping up the imprint and throwing it at the guest, suggests a severe lack of professional customer service and a disregard for guest privacy and security. Such reported incidents highlight a problematic approach to guest relations and payment handling. While other services like room stocking or check-in procedures were not extensively detailed, this singular but critical account of a service interaction casts a long shadow over the overall guest experience, indicating that personalized or accommodating service may not be a consistent offering at this establishment. The owner's reported comment, "if I wanted a better room we should have booked at a fancier hotel," also reflects a potentially dismissive attitude towards guest complaints and expectations.
In terms of features, the reviews indicate a very basic and possibly substandard offering. The fundamental feature of a comfortable bed is challenged by guest accounts stating, "Beds were cardboard. You could feel the springs," which points to severely worn or low-quality mattresses that would significantly impede a restful sleep. The presence of "cigarette ashes everywhere and hair in the sink/shower" within minutes of checking in further suggests a lack of thorough cleaning between guests, indicating that basic room preparation features are not adequately met. Stains everywhere within the room also contribute to the perception of poor maintenance and a lack of care for the property's features. While the inn provides a place to sleep, the described conditions undermine the expectation of even basic comfort and hygiene typically associated with hotel accommodation. There are no mentions of amenities such as Wi-Fi, television, or in-room facilities that would enhance a guest's stay, further suggesting a very stripped-down offering focused solely on providing a minimal shelter. The overall impression of the features is that they are either outdated, poorly maintained, or entirely lacking in the aspects that contribute to a positive guest experience.
For local users considering "Hotels Near Of Me" around the Cooperstown area, the promotional information for Budget Inn, if any, should be carefully weighed against the prevalent customer experiences. The provided reviews do not offer any positive promotional points or incentives to stay. Instead, the strong negative recommendations, such as "Highly recommend going anywhere else," and the immediate departure of guests who were willing to pay a "cancellation fee to not have to stay there," serve as a stark warning. There is no indication of any features or services that would attract guests seeking comfort, cleanliness, or good value. The reported issues with cleanliness, customer service, and basic room condition effectively negate any potential promotional appeal. Therefore, individuals searching for accommodation in this region should be fully aware of these documented shortcomings. While the phone numbers (518) 284-2114 and mobile +1 518-284-2114 are available for contact, prospective guests are strongly advised to consider the detailed feedback regarding the property's condition and the nature of guest interactions before making any booking decisions. The reviews strongly suggest that any expectations of a clean or comfortable stay should be tempered, and alternative options might be preferable for those prioritizing basic standards of lodging quality.
In conclusion, based on the customer reviews provided, Budget Inn at 498 Rt-20 sharonsprings near, Cooperstown, NY 13326, USA, presents significant challenges for guests. The reported environment is characterized by severe cleanliness issues, including mold, filth, and pests, alongside unpleasant odors. The services are highlighted by a very negative and unprofessional interaction concerning payment and cancellations. The features of the rooms, particularly the uncomfortable beds and general state of disrepair, fall far below standard expectations. For anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Cooperstown area, the information suggests that Budget Inn may not offer a satisfactory or even minimally comfortable experience. Prospective guests are strongly advised to heed the negative feedback and explore other lodging options that can guarantee a cleaner, more comfortable, and professionally managed stay.

Jun 02, 2024 · Hannah BennettMy husband and I booked this place on Expedia a while back. We didn’t even stay five minutes. The room was absolutely filthy. There were cigarett ashes everywhere and hair in the sink/shower. Stains everywhere and it smelled terrible. Can confirm their pictures online are fake. Literally paid a cancellation fee to not have to stay there. The owner said if I wanted a better room we should have booked at a fancier hotel. While processing our payment he used an old fashioned machine that takes an imprint of your credit card. Haven’t seen that in this decade. I told him he had a card machine so that was unnecessary. He refused to listen and wanted to have a copy of my card. I told him I wasn’t leaving until he gave me the imprint of my card, there was no reason for him to have it. Finally, he ripped it up into pieces and threw it at me. Still took the pieces and destroyed them. Not having my information stolen but some hack running a meth motel.
Mar 31, 2019 · NY TC 33This dump doesn’t deserve any stars! Nothing in the kitchenette in either of our 2 rooms worked, the faucet ( no running water), the refrigerator that was rusted inside, the microwave that lit up but didn’t work, the half used toilet paper on back of toilet that appeared to have feces on it, used shampoo and soap in shower, the 1960’s mattresses that had old toppers on them, you could feel all the springs! The rooms didn’t get warm until it was time to leave. Totally disgusting!!!
Jul 06, 2019 · Linda JohnsonBeware of the scamming owner who lives above the office. Don't answer his questions as he is trying to figure out how much you can afford before he names price. If you just need cheap place to sleep, use cash and name your price, he'll take it if he thinks you might leave. Way overpriced for seedy rooms. Mattresses were like cardboard, stuff like microwave and tiny fridge that should be included are $15 each per night. Bathrooms are too small to turn around in and some have red lights, make you wonder if you're staying in a brothel.
Sep 03, 2013 · Elam BeilerHorrible experience. Paid $78 for a room that was dirty. Hair in the bathroom and dirt on the floor yet. Either was not swept or sweeper is broken. Didn't touch anything and promptly went back out for a refund. They assured us a full refund. Still no refund today. Very outdated place. So sad as there are few in this area and it could be a good thing.
