RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The sheets and pillow cases smelled like URINE. And not just any urine but a strong smelling urine. The sheets were not cleaned at all. Me and my boyfriend found a long piece of hair in the sheets as well. The staff were being very limited and stingy with the bath towels. We were told to bring our old towel backs just to only receive TWO new towels. Not to mention the nasty dirt in the shower and corners of the bathroom. There was pubic hair in the shower from previous guests. We are highly disappointed with this place. The only good things is the location, and the room we stayed in had more space with a kitchen.. Good luck if you stay here.

For us South Carolinians looking to book a stay at Candlewood Suites Greenville by IHG, finding special offers can help make your trip even more affordable, especially for longer visits. As an IHG brand, Candlewood Suites participates in various promotions and loyalty programs.
One of the most consistent ways to save at Candlewood Suites, given its extended-stay focus, is through its "extended stay savings rate." IHG's official website states that when you book 7 nights or longer at any Candlewood Suites, a discount is automatically applied to your nightly rate. This is designed for those on long-term assignments, relocations, or simply extended vacations, making it a highly attractive option for locals needing accommodation for more than a few days.
Beyond the extended stay rate, here are common ways to find promotions:
IHG One Rewards Member Rate: If you're an IHG One Rewards member (which is free to join), you can access exclusive member-only rates, which are often lower than public rates. This is a simple way for frequent travelers to save.
Advance Purchase Rates: Booking your stay well in advance can sometimes unlock lower "advance purchase" rates, though these are typically non-refundable.
AAA/Senior Discounts: Members of AAA and seniors (usually 62+) can often qualify for discounted rates. It's always worth checking if these apply to your booking.
Government/Military Rates: Special rates are typically available for government employees and military personnel.
IHG Website & App Offers: The official IHG website and the IHG One Rewards app are excellent resources for finding current promotions. IHG frequently runs global or regional promotions (e.g., earning bonus points, percentage off stays) that apply across their brands, including Candlewood Suites. These offers are usually highlighted on their "Deals" or "Offers" pages.
Online Travel Agencies (OTAs): While booking direct often yields the best rates or loyalty benefits, it's always wise to compare prices on sites like Expedia, Booking.com, and Hotels.com. Sometimes, these platforms may have their own flash sales or exclusive discounts.
When booking, always check the "Offers" or "Promotions" section on the IHG website for Candlewood Suites Greenville directly, or call the hotel's reservation line. Be sure to clarify any specific terms and conditions, especially concerning cancellation policies or required identification for special rates. Given the emphasis on extended stays, tailoring your search for longer durations is key to uncovering the best value at this property.

For us South Carolinians, whether we're visiting Greenville for business, a family event, or perhaps even during a home renovation or relocation, finding suitable temporary lodging is crucial. Candlewood Suites Greenville by IHG, despite some recent challenging reviews regarding cleanliness and service, presents a compelling set of features that make it inherently suitable for locals, especially for those needing an extended-stay solution.
The most significant advantage is the apartment-style suite setup with a full kitchen. For locals who are used to the conveniences of home, being able to cook their own meals, store groceries in a full-sized refrigerator, and enjoy a separate living space is incredibly valuable. This is particularly true for families, or for individuals on longer work assignments who want to maintain a semblance of their regular routine and save money on dining out. As one reviewer noted, the room "had more space with a kitchen," feeling like a "mini-apartment instead of hotel room."
Another major draw is the complimentary guest laundry facilities. This is a game-changer for extended stays, eliminating the need to find a laundromat or pay for expensive hotel laundry services. For locals, this amenity alone can justify choosing Candlewood Suites, providing immense practicality and cost savings. The "free Guest Laundry open 24/7" is a definite highlight.
Its location on Woodruff Road, while not downtown, is incredibly convenient for local needs. It places you right in the heart of Greenville's primary commercial hub, with immediate access to everyday necessities like grocery stores, a vast selection of restaurants, and popular shopping destinations like Haywood Mall. For those commuting for work, its proximity to major roads and business centers in the area is highly advantageous. Plus, the free self-parking is always a welcome perk.
While recent reviews indicate that the hotel has faced challenges in consistent cleanliness and customer service, it's important to weigh these against the inherent value proposition of an extended-stay brand. For locals who prioritize the functionality of a full kitchen, free laundry, and a spacious room over daily housekeeping service (which is typically weekly for extended stays), Candlewood Suites still offers a compelling package. It's designed for independent travelers who appreciate self-sufficiency. If you manage expectations and are prepared to communicate any immediate needs to the front desk, the core offerings of space, kitchen facilities, and free laundry make Candlewood Suites Greenville a practical and potentially cost-effective choice for your extended stays in the Upstate.

Mar 25, 2025 · BrookeUnacceptable Service and Cleanliness Standards Despite making reservations over a month in advance, we were informed upon arrival at 3 PM that no rooms were available as all were still dirty. We were told to wait 1–2 hours without any effort to check if another room might be ready. Upon returning three hours later, the same excuse was given until we demanded confirmation. After an additional hour of waiting, we were finally assigned a room. Unfortunately, the room was far from acceptable. Dust covered every table and shelf, the carpet was filthy, and while the sheets appeared clean, the rest of the room did not meet basic hygiene standards. Over the course of five days, not once did anyone check on the room to replace supplies, empty trash, or perform any cleaning. The elevator was disgustingly dirty and had a noticeable odor, to the point where another guest was spraying Febreze to mask the smell. Tragically, my child became sick during our stay, and I cannot dismiss the possibility that the unsanitary conditions contributed to this. Customer service was equally disappointing, with the exception of one male employee who was courteous. Two other female staff members displayed irritation when we merely asked to be billed for three bottles of water—a basic request for any paying guest. We have traveled extensively and have never experienced such a lack of professionalism, cleanliness, or hospitality. The only reason we did not switch hotels was due to the nature of our work trip, which made last-minute changes impossible. Candlewood fell far short of even the most basic standards of accommodation. I cannot recommend this location to anyone.
Dec 14, 2024 · Yoaris GarcíaIHG needs to keep up with the rooms and appliances. Our room was fine, but the appliances definitely needed an upgrade and a deeper cleaning. Dust everywhere and leftover toys under one of the couches we adjusted. The door latch was missing screws and the dishwasher leaked water when we tried to use it. The HDMI wouldn’t work on the TV so that was a little inconvenient. It’s not the most quiet place, we are used to sounds of people walking/talking, but all of the room doors slam ridiculously loud all day/night. It seems dangerous how heavy and fast they slam shut. On the other hand, the staff was the best part, super nice and accommodating.
Mar 08, 2025 · Andrea LabradoRoom 127 was/is in poor condition. The door is almost impossible to open. You hear the latch release, but when turning the handle down, it's still locked & takes multiple tries before you get lucky. It's smells old & had an overwhelming smell of lemon scented cleaner or something to mask the odor. The bed near the bathroom is completely sunken in on the nightstand side (collapses to the bed frame when sitting on it). The tub is stained, the sink faucet is loose, and the toilet paper hanger fell off. Lastly, the curtains are drooping & barely wanted to close for privacy. The only thing that saved this room was a working fridge, microwave, and AC. All of the staff we interacted with were great, so was the coffee, but it appears SOMEONE is relying heavily on that lobby and curbside appearance to attract guests. Also, April 4th, 5th, temp in the mid 80's, pool was closed & not cleaned, grilles were hovered over by guests smoking and drinking. This isn't a place to take the wife and kids.
Apr 07, 2025 · W. LewisThe rooms were very clean. And the kitchenette was stocked well. All staff were very kind and professional. A special shout out to Aundrea and Briante. They were so king and helpful with what ever was needed
