Booked this room for regionals for gymnastics taking place this weekend and will not be returning to this hotel. For starters, when I booked the room (1 King WITH sofa bed) a few weeks ago through their website, it clearly states that my card wouldn’t be charged until I checked in, only for my card to be charged the same day which I didn’t notice until the following day. I called the hotel to try and figure out why and was initial told by one of female receptionists that they couldn’t explain what happened and that it just happened. When I pushed back to read exactly what’s on their website, she said she would have to reach out the manager who was no longer ok the premises and would call me back on my cell….i never received a callback and decided to just let it be and make sure that I wouldn’t be charged again once we arrived to check in….I finally get here today and had to wait for 20 minutes before getting in checked in and here those before me clearly annoyed with their own issues that they were having with the their rooms. Once it was finally my turn to check in, the receptionist confirmed that I wouldn’t be charged anything further other than seeing the $50 incidental hold on my account which was fine. The elevator SMELLS LIKE URINE!!!! We get up to our room only to discover 1. The door was OPEN! and 2. We were given a room with only the 1 king bed and NO sofa bed. I booked the room for 4 people and there’s no way 4 people were sharing a king sized bed. I immediately when back downstairs to figure out why I wasn’t given the room that I paid almost $300 for. The young lady at first gave the impression as if she thought she made a mistake with the room assignment by giving the wrong room, which then turned into “I don’t have any others available”, then to “I only have single queens left” to finally “I have a double Queen”. Seeing that I didn’t have a choice if I wanted my family to be able to sleep we took the double Queen. When I asked what the rate was for the room the receptionist looked at her paper and said the rate was $185 to which I asked if I could expect to see a refund…..She stated that she wouldn’t be able to offer a refund because of policy….So you’re telling me after paying almost $300 for a room that I’m not getting, your placing me in a different room that has a lower rate, but since my card had already been charged, a refund wasn’t an option!?!? She offered to reach out to the manager to see if there was anything that could be done. There was a lady waiting to be checked in behind me during this interaction who we saw again back down at the counter frustrated with her room situation and could be heard asking the front desk if she was “supposed to sleep on the floor!?” When I spoke with the front desk again to see if the manager had been reached and this time there were 2 at the desk. The original receptionist stated that the “unfortunately the manager said that there’s nothing that we can do due to corporate policy but could offer reward points to your account” …… and the other receptionist said that I could reach out to the manager on Monday to discuss the issue further….but based on previous comments I doubt anything will be done. On to the room…..the bathroom isn’t clean. There’s hair on the floor that doesn’t belong to anyone in my family seeing that the hair is straight and we’re African American with curly hair. There’s NO hot water at all…lukewarm at best…and I know it wasn’t just this room because my daughter’s teammate staying here as well said they also didn’t have hot water. There’s also what looks to be a left behind purple bleach stained washcloth that was folded up and placed on the soap dish next to the bathroom sink…I will never stay here again….We’ve only been here for 4 hours and I counted at least 4 other people at the desk complaining of their issues…A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

For locals in Texas, Candlewood Suites San Antonio - Schertz by IHG stands out as a highly suitable lodging option, particularly for those requiring an extended stay in the San Antonio metropolitan area. The fundamental appeal of a Candlewood Suites property lies in its design around the concept of "home away from home." This is crucial for Texans who are relocating for work, undergoing home renovations, visiting family for an extended period, or on temporary military assignments. The fully equipped kitchens in every suite are a major highlight, empowering guests to prepare their own meals, thereby offering significant cost savings over restaurant dining and allowing for healthier, more personalized meal options. However, the core amenities designed for extended stays—full kitchens, on-site laundry, and a pet-friendly policy—remain strong drawing cards. For Texans seeking a practical, self-sufficient, and comfortable base for an extended visit to the San Antonio region, Candlewood Suites San Antonio - Schertz offers the essential infrastructure to make your stay feel more like living and less like just visiting, provided individual experiences align with the brand's intended standard of service and cleanliness.

May 10, 2025 · Bria PayneWe booked this hotel for a basketball tournament the same Weekend of the final four and the golf tournament. When we arrived late Friday evening, we noticed a few small cockroaches on the bathroom floor. I understand that this is a hotel and they are not all perfect, I assumed maybe they just sprayed or something. Regardless, I let the front desk now. The next morning, after waking up, we noticed a lot more. They were crawling on the walls and in the kitchenette. I immediately told the front desk and they told me they were out of rooms and I would be unable to switch. I tried to call a few other places around, but every place is sold out. After our Day out, we arrived back At the hotel late that evening. Figured we could deal with a few since we had no other option. About 1230 in the morning, my daughter was awoken by a roach crawling on her face & another on the nightstand right next to her! Again, I instantly called the front desk and they basically told me there was nothing they could do, but I could call management in the morning. Needless to say we did not get any more sleep. I’ve tried multiple times to reach out to management and give them an opportunity respond. After waiting over a week, I was told that I could get points credited to my account for my next visit.. Are you kidding me?? Do you really think someone would come back and pay almost $400 to stay in a roach infested room? I’m still waiting for my response from upper management!
May 27, 2025 · Cristy ClarkThe two front desk girls were off talking for a minimum of 15 min when I arrived. I wouldn't mind if the rooms were better. My room was open when I arrived. The worst was the fact that the hot water was NOT hot. It was tepid at best. It constantly smells like weed in the front lobby. The A/C in the room was messing up (really cold than really hot when nothing had been touched. I would never stay here again.
Mar 12, 2025 · Hannah WorshamThe lobby has a really bad animal urine smell. And the rooms are on some kind of rolling black out grid which caused my Playstation 5 to short out from being turned off improperly so there goes $500
Apr 23, 2025 · Yautja MikeBy far the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Blood on the sheets, roaches, cars getting broke into. The Manager is just rude. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone!
