The rooms could use an update, but my overall stay was good. My kids and I really enjoyed the hot tub and pool during our stay. We had food at the Bistro that’s inside of the hotel. Mario was fast and the food was great. Housekeeping came everyday and was extremely nice. Our housekeeper Chyne was the best. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

The staff was nice but the hotel smells terrible. From the lobby to my room, I had a hard time getting over the stench. It was like old mildew and funk. We also had dirty sheets on one of the beds. After I informed the front desk, the housekeeping manager came and changed the sheets. She was really kind and courteous. There was something about the smell and sheets that made the room feel unclean. There was also a large red stain on the carpet. It looked like juice was spilled from a prior guest. Pros: I did enjoy the checkout time at 12, easy parking and how convenient the location was. Very high likelihood that we won’t go back. Needless to say we showered before bed and before we left. We also immediately washed everything when we got home. I expected better from a Marriott.

Had a wonderful stay and the staff was amazing. They helped out anyway they could. The little pool was a great to cool down. Wish I was alone no kids would have been better. I would definitely come back. Please have microwave on the floors or in the rooms. Refrigerator was way too small but my biggest issues was a man walked in our room at 9pm.

You can tell it's an older hotel that needs upgrading but overall the check in guy was nice & respectful. The hotel was comfy & i had a great night sleep. Also my car was safe in parking lot which is a +++ plus for me when traveling.

I have been a loyal Marriott member for 10+ years with the Bonvoy credit card. Back on 11/7, after a meeting in FLL, I flew into ATL to drive my mother to a funeral in VA. We reserved a room at the Courtyard in Gastonia to sleep for a few hours before continuing our journey the following morning. I knew nothing about the area, but knew I would need a few hours to rest. When we arrived, there were couple of sketchy men walking back and forth between the Courtyard and the Fairfield hotel, which is next door. My mother and I, being two older women and unfamiliar with the area, drove around the parking lot waiting for them to go into one of the hotels. After about 10 minutes of waiting, we pulled over to park and noticed them walking back towards the Courtyard, so we waited and watched them stand outside of the sliding glass doors. They were not smoking/vaping...just standing there. After another 5 minutes, I called the hotel and explained that we did not feel safe. I explained that because of the situation, I wanted to cancel the room for a full refund. He said "no problem" but asked no additional questions or offered to come out and look. I was so wide-eyed thinking what could have happened that I drove to what appeared to be a safer area at a Fairfield property, before continuing our journey the next morning to another Fairfield property for the weekend. A few days later, I called about the refund and was told it would reflect within the next several business days. I allowed two weeks, but still no refund. I called back and was told that I needed to speak with someone in management, who wasn't available. I called back the next business day before 5pm (as recommended) but management had conveniently left for the day. At this point, it had been over a month, so I escalated to Corporate who was going to reach out directly. After several attempts, they reached the hotel property manager and were told he was not going to issue a refund. Wow, he said this to Corporate! Now, I had to be transferred to a supervisor to assist, who said she reached out to the manager, and I needed to give him time to respond via email. He never called, so why would he email me? I allowed nearly a month, still no call or email. So, today I called Corporate again. Dominique explained that based on the manager's final decision, they could not offer a monetary refund, but she did offer points equivalent to what I paid, which I am thankful for. However, it's very disappointing the way this hotel manager handled it, which makes me think he may have been in cahoots with the sketchy guys hanging in front of the hotel. Beware!
