Introduction / Overview
For Wisconsinites, especially those in the Stevens Point area, finding a hotel that offers a combination of affordability, convenience, and essential amenities is often a top priority. The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, located in Stevens Point, is a well-known establishment that aims to meet these needs, serving a diverse group of travelers from those visiting the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to families on a budget. As part of the globally recognized Choice Hotels brand, it provides a certain level of familiarity and a straightforward, no-frills experience. The hotel's focus is on providing good value, with features like a free continental breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a pet-friendly policy that is a big draw for many locals. The hotel also has an on-site Mexican restaurant, Mi Pueblo, which provides a convenient dining option for guests. The guest experience, however, can be quite varied. While one review speaks highly of the hotel, praising the "nice" hotel manager and staff, as well as the "good" lobby and rooms, and recommends it for a "great" stay, another review tells a different story. The second review is highly critical, mentioning issues with bugs, a leaking tub, and a lack of fresh linens. It also highlights a non-functional pool and a broken ice machine. This conflicting feedback is common for hotels in this category and is something locals should be aware of. It's a hotel with a mix of positive attributes, such as a great staff and a good location, and potential drawbacks, including maintenance and amenity issues. The hotel has been updated, with sources mentioning its renovation in the past, but the inconsistent feedback suggests that guests' experiences can depend on the specific room and the timing of their visit. The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is a part of the local business community, and its reputation is built on these varied guest experiences. For a local looking for a place to stay, it’s a matter of weighing the value and convenience against the potential for an inconsistent stay. The hotel offers a practical solution for many situations, and its suitability will depend on the individual's needs and expectations.
The hotel is designed to be a functional and easy stop for travelers on the road. The inclusion of free breakfast and in-room amenities like a microwave and refrigerator are key features that add to the hotel's value proposition. The pet-friendly policy is a huge plus for locals who are traveling with their furry companions, making it a great option for those who are relocating or on an extended trip within the state. The hotel also has a variety of room types, including some with a jetted tub, which can be a nice bonus for guests looking to relax. The presence of a games room and an indoor pool are also mentioned as entertainment facilities, although one review noted the pool was unavailable, so it is always wise to confirm the status of amenities before booking. The hotel's connection to the Choice Privileges Rewards program is another draw, allowing guests to earn rewards and gift cards for their stays. The hotel’s core offering is a straightforward, budget-friendly place to stay, and it succeeds in this regard for many guests. However, the operational issues noted in some reviews, such as a broken ice machine and a lack of available linens, are important considerations. The hotel's commitment to customer service, as highlighted by a manager named Gary in one of the reviews, is a positive sign that there are dedicated people working to make stays as pleasant as possible. The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites in Stevens Point fills an important niche in the local hospitality market, providing an affordable and accessible option for those who need a simple, practical place to stay.

Feb 19, 2025 · Krista SullyvanIf you have to choose between the disgusting blue top and here… it’s almost a toss up. I’ve stayed here many times and it gets worse and worse. Two years ago I quit staying here. With almost everything sold out I tried again, still ridiculous. The pool has been out of order every time I’ve been there for five years. The hot tub under a dusty tarp. At least this time there were room numbers? Dirty, always torn apart in constant “construction“ that never makes anything better. My room needed a vacuuming, the time black hairs in the bathroom left me grossed out and unwilling to shower. Piles of filth in the corners. Now there’s no breakfast. My room smelled of heavy cigarette smoke, which I am not sure if it’s better than the marijuana smoke from my last visit 2 years ago. Took a half hour to check in with a kiosk that broke halfway through. With a kiosk the building will be less secure than it already is… terrifying. Stay at the LaQuinta or the Holiday Inn. It’s worth the extra couple bucks. Thank God I was alone. I was hoping they had improved. I was incorrect.
Aug 04, 2024 · Jennifer Fonfara Tactical Escape 101I stayed here June 10, 2024 through June 19, 2024. This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The hallways & bedroom smelt incredibly bad. The carpets were sticky. Online they say they offer a complimentary breakfast but they do not. The swimming pool was closed. They have 2 ice machines but only 1 would work.
Aug 11, 2024 · Pete WebberTo start out with, we made reservations for the wrong date through Expedia. No refund, no exchange. Ridiculous. Made reservations for the correct date, poolside room. To our surprise, when we got there, the pool was closed for maintenance! Nothing was said on the web sight about this! You would think you would get a reduced rate for this! Nope. Arguing with Expedia about this. The hotel did not have a person at the front desk. You had to talk to a rep on the kiosk. All he could say was he was sorry. Did not have a solution. I know we will not be back to the Econo Lodge. We paid for a poolside room with double beds and didn't get either! Just about forgot. Housekeeping was knocking on the door at 9:00 asking when we are checking out. They knocked on our nieces door at 8:30. Really, checkout is 11:00. Just not a good experience! It also said free breakfast. Nope, they didn't have that either.
