I'll give it an honest 2 stars. Cabin views were great, rooms felt slapped together and ontop of that the 3rd floor bathroom (Bedroom #1) had a leak from the shower drain or the sink/toilet. Overall was easy to book, was easy to find, views were great, cabin was extremely sub par especially for almost $900 for 2 nights.

Emerald City Lights Cabin Introduce

Hello, fellow Tennesseans! When the call of the Smoky Mountains beckons, many of us dream of a cozy cabin retreat that offers both breathtaking views and all the comforts of home. If you're planning a trip to Gatlinburg, whether it's for a family getaway, a friends' gathering, or just a peaceful escape, you've likely considered the charm of a mountain cabin. Today, we're taking a closer look at a property that promises an "awesome" view and a memorable stay: Emerald City Lights Cabin.

This isn't your average hotel room; it's a multi-level cabin designed to immerse you in the natural beauty of the Smokies while providing ample space and amenities for your group. While some guest feedback points to areas that could benefit from a little tender loving care and updating, the core appeal of Emerald City Lights Cabin remains strong: its stunning vistas and convenient location. As we delve into the details, you'll discover why this cabin continues to be a choice for many seeking that quintessential Gatlinburg experience, complete with potential wildlife sightings and a sense of secluded tranquility that's truly unique to our mountain region.

The Emerald City Lights Cabin boasts a location that is truly one of its greatest assets, offering both spectacular views and convenient access to the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Situated at 2208 St Moritz Ct, Gatlinburg, TN 37738, USA, this cabin is nestled on Ski Mountain, placing it just a short distance from downtown Gatlinburg. Guests consistently praise the "short drive to Gatlinburg without fighting any traffic," which is a significant advantage in this popular tourist destination. This means you can quickly get to the bustling Parkway for dining, shopping, and attractions like Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies or the Gatlinburg Space Needle, and then retreat to the peaceful solitude of your mountain haven.

Furthermore, being on Ski Mountain provides easy access to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park, offering year-round fun, from skiing and snowboarding in winter to wildlife encounters and amusement rides in warmer months. The proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is also a huge draw, allowing for quick trips to explore hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and the abundant natural beauty of our cherished national park. The drive up the mountain, while potentially steep in places, is manageable and leads to a sense of elevated seclusion. The cabin's setting ensures you feel away from it all, especially during the green season when surrounding trees offer privacy, while still being just minutes from everything you might need for your vacation.

Emerald City Lights Cabin is designed to offer a comprehensive "home away from home" experience, particularly suited for families and groups looking for more than just a standard hotel room. It aims to provide everything you need for a comfortable and self-sufficient stay in the Smokies. Here's a look at the services and amenities you can expect:

  • Fully Equipped Kitchen: The cabin includes a private kitchen featuring a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and often smaller appliances like a toaster. This allows guests to prepare their own meals, which can be a significant cost-saver, especially for longer stays or larger groups.

  • Linens and Towels: Essential bed linens and towels are provided, reducing the amount you need to pack and simplifying your stay.

  • Washer and Dryer: For convenience, the cabin is equipped with full-sized washer and dryer units, making it easy to refresh clothes after outdoor activities or for extended visits.

  • Free Wi-Fi: High-speed wireless internet access is available throughout the cabin, ensuring you can stay connected, stream entertainment, or even work remotely if needed.

  • Barbecue Grills: An outdoor barbecue grill is available, perfect for enjoying cookouts with a view. (Guests should note the need to ensure a drip bucket is present for fire safety.)

  • Complimentary Parking: Free self-parking is available on-site, a valuable amenity in the Gatlinburg area where parking can sometimes be a challenge.

  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Emerald City Lights Cabin is dog-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along for their mountain adventure (fees and weight limits apply).

  • Express Check-in: For a smoother arrival process, express check-in options are often available, allowing you to get settled into your vacation sooner.

  • Professional Management: The cabin is managed by Aunt Bug's Cabin Rentals, a well-known local company specializing in cabin rentals, providing a level of professional oversight and support.

Emerald City Lights Cabin offers a range of features and highlights that aim to make your Gatlinburg stay memorable, focusing on entertainment, relaxation, and embracing the stunning natural surroundings. While recent guest feedback suggests some areas could benefit from updates, the core highlights remain compelling:

  • Awesome Views: This is arguably the cabin's strongest asset. Guests consistently rave about the "great" and "awesome" views, particularly overlooking Pigeon Forge at night, and the daytime panoramas of the Smoky Mountains. Multiple decks provide ample space to soak in these vistas.

  • Game Room: A dedicated game room on the lower level is a major draw, featuring a full-size pool table, a classic stand-up arcade game machine with over 100 games, and sometimes bunk beds. This area serves as an excellent entertainment hub, especially for families with children or groups looking for indoor fun.

  • Private Hot Tub: The cabin includes a private outdoor hot tub, providing a relaxing spot to unwind after a day of hiking or exploring, often with views of the mountains or city lights. (Note: Guest reviews indicate this feature may need maintenance at times, with jets not fully functional and potential leaks).

  • Spacious Accommodation: With multiple bedrooms (typically 2, sleeping up to 8 guests, or more with additional sleeping areas like bunk beds) and bathrooms, the cabin offers plenty of space for larger families or groups, ensuring comfort and privacy.

  • Secluded Feel: Despite being accessible to town, the cabin provides a sense of seclusion, particularly during the green season when trees offer privacy from neighboring properties.

  • Wildlife Sightings: A unique highlight mentioned by guests is the frequent appearance of bears, including a mama bear and her cubs, offering a peaceful and memorable wildlife viewing experience right from the cabin.

  • Proximity to Attractions: Its location on Ski Mountain means it's very close to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance, as well as a short drive to downtown Gatlinburg, combining peace with accessibility.

  • Comfortable Furnishings: Despite some comments on wear, the cabin features comfortable beds and generally spacious living areas with upscale leather furniture in the main living room, designed for relaxation.

  • Outdoor Spaces: Multiple decks, often furnished with rockers, allow guests to enjoy the fresh mountain air and stunning surroundings.

We rented the cabin the last week of July 2024. It would be phenomenal with some TLC, Cleaning & Updates. The view overlooking Pigeon Forge at night is awesome. The short drive to Gatlinburg is great without fighting any traffic. The floors and stairs has heavy wear/damage and even what appears that a dog/cat chewed a small hole in the wood floor and they try covering it up with the couch. Multiple switches do nothing and there are multiple light bulbs out. Cob webs on the light fixtures including over the dinner table. The doors all have gaps and you can see right through the door and jamb, while the front door has a big gap above it. The windows only get cleaned half way and you can easily tell by the streaks/circles on the windows. The pool table had cat/dog hair all over it and there were only 2 pool cues all of which didn't have any tips on them. The lights above the jacuzzi tub in the downstairs bedroom didn't work and were warped and appeared to have water damage and the bedroom door to the deck was installed backwards. The hot tub jet controls are broke and only 1 or 2 of the jets actually work. The hot tub appears to have a leak as it was filled to the top but by night the water level was right at the jets. The bottom stairs has a split in it and not much is holding the damaged part on. The grill drip pan was damaged and had to be bent straight to actually stay on and didn't have a drip bucket which is why they have a rug under it which is still a huge fire risk. The outside of the cabin has some type of damage whether it is from the wildlife or termite damage. The deck has multiple posts that are rotten and loose. The smoke alarm in the top bedroom went off in the middle of the night for a few minutes and then quit so appears to have some kind of electrical issue. All the vents and returns were dusty and filthy. There is a YouTube video from 2010 that shows the same furnishings and only minor changes. There was a mama bear and 2 cubs that made multiple appearances a day and was peaceful to enjoy watching them. The cabin is secluded from other cabins during green/growing season. Uber Eats & Instacart delivered and in a timely manner. The drive up the mountains was manageable even in the heavy downpours. Nothing ruined the vacation with the cabin and I would rent again if a more luxurious cabin isn't available.

The cabin is nice architecturally and the bedroom layout is nice. However, the cabin needs updating and not just decor. The floors, walls, and windows need some care. Outdoor decks have decent views but they were covered in leaves and debris. They had pealing rails and decking. The kitchen was sparsely equipped but Aunt Bugs did send someone with a few more essentials when we asked. The downstairs bed had a fitted sheet that wouldn’t stretch to fit the bed adequately and upstairs bed had torn spread. The hot tub had no instructions on how to turn up the temp and only one jet worked. The main floor TV had no instructions on how to change the channels. The biggest issue was the drive up the mountain. It had multiple switch backs as cabin is near the top. Many blind spots and certainly dangerous if road is wet. The dryer made a terrible noise to point you couldn’t use it. Cabin had NOT been cleaned when we arrived. Jimmy, repairman that was sent, was very helpful and kind. However, the dryer was never fixed.

The most disgusting chalet I have ever stayed in. Infested with bugs. Lights in game room did not work. Pictures DO NOT look like actual cabin. Cheap furniture, appliances do not work. We were there 7 days and maintenance had to come out 4 different times. Tried to work with Aunt Bug’s for a resolution, was not able to resolve. I’ve called the owner 3 days in a row with no response. This is nowhere near a luxury cabin. AVOID under any circumstances

We had to check out early because the 1.8 mile drive up and down the mountain in the fog was so dangerous it left me jaded and fearing for my life every time. No quick runs to Walgreens or Food City! The view is gorgeous, yes, but seeing it isn't worth my life. The cabin itself was in bad shape, not like their pictures. The game room bedroom was flooded. The source of the leak was never discovered. The outdoor grill was never cleaned. We were so relieved when we checked into a Hampton Inn!
