We have stayed here multiple times in the past. But the last 2 times were just not good. Sad, because it used to be great. The rooms are dirty and honestly need to be completely remodeled. Greasy hand smudges on the furniture. The pillows are awful and they give you 3 instead of 4. I guess you could ask for another, but just seems like such a simple and obvious thing. The elevators are kinda sketchy. Overall this location has gone way down hill. Especially for the cost!!! Oh! The hallway was hot ,humid and smelled like urine. (4th Floor) We have also stayed at the Hampton Inn in Jonesville just one exit up. It has been fantastic every single time! The Hampton had complimentary cookies, popcorn, fresh fruit, hot chocolate , bottled water and such an amazing staff. This place has free cold stares and snarky attitudes. Everything else is *for sale* in the little market corner. We only stayed here because the Hampton inn was sold out. I remember why we stopped coming here now. Not surprised at all that this place had plenty of vacancies. It’s twice the price and just overall not great.

There was plenty of breakfast items to choose from and I'm so glad that they have more options now as far as sugar free and gluten free foods! The room was comfortable. I had no issues. It's located right in Elkin and there's lots of places outside to eat at too. Downtown is close by and I enjoyed listening to music at the Reeves theater as well. I will 100% be staying here every time.

Jun 18, 2025 · David KahnNo complaints during my stay! This was a quick one night stop while traveling and Fairfield did not disappoint. Check in was very fast and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were very clean and the bed was pretty comfortable! Minimal road noise despite the hotel being right off the 77 which made it a super convenient stop for traveling. The breakfast had a great selection including milk alternatives, gluten free options, and an oatmeal/jogurt bar that had many add-ons such as nuts, seeds, and coconut. The breakfast also had compostable plates and bowls which is a win for me. Overall very satisfied with my stay.

However, the rooms are tired, the AC unit was extremely loud, and the housekeeping staff are in dire need of training. There was human excrement on or in two of three toilets. The most disappointing factor was that I was told the manager would be in touch, but I guess they were too busy. Now the details: We stopped for an overnight stay during the long drive between Florida and Ontario. The sister hotel where we previously stayed in Statesville was completely booked, so we decided to give this one a try. Although I checked in on the app, we arrived at the hotel around 9:30pm on Monday, May 5th. and the gentleman at the front desk was very nice. We went to our room on the 5th floor and started our usual disinfecting process (yes, we wipe down the surfaces in hotel rooms). My mom calls me in the bathroom to verify if she's seeing correctly - yup, there was some feces ON the toilet seat. In all my years, I never saw that outside of maybe elementary school. If the toilet wasn't cleaned, not sure if anything else was, so we could not sleep here. We went down to the front desk to switch rooms. We got a room on the 3rd floor and started the cleaning process again. Again, there were feces in the bathroom. This time, skid marks in the toilet. Went back down to the nice front desk clerk, who apologized profusely as he said he never had this issue, ever. We were given a room on the 4th floor. Finally, no excrement and the toilet seemed clean enough. With all the room switching, it was past midnight before we actually settled in for the night. The AC/heater was so loud that I could not sleep. Sometime in the wee hours of the morning, I turned off the entire unit and finally fell asleep. I woke up with a migraine and couldn't help with driving at all for the day, so unfortunately had to check in to another hotel rather than make it all the way to our destination as usual. The shower was ok, but clearly needed better cleaning, judging from the pink mold around the tiles. I understand the grouting in older bathrooms, but this one could definitely use some TLC. The floor tile in the bathroom was loose, so everytime you went to the toilet, you felt the shift under your feet, fearing a fall. The rooms and even hallways had a musty smell. When we went down for breakfast, it was a completely different experience. The dining area was clean and updated. The buffet was better than usual, even with various gluten free options and a lovely oatmeal/yogurt station and the staff are so hard working. It's also nice that they have a water station so you can refill your water bottle at any time. Upon checkout, we were asked how our stay was, and we were honest. The ladies at the front were very empathetic and told us they will pass the information over to the manager, and we should be expecting a call. That call never happened. As for my rating, one star for the staff, one star for breakfast. One star deducted for fecal matter on the seat, one star deducted for fecal matter in another toilet, and one star deducted for the obnoxiously loud unit.
