This hotel may be suitable for those with rooms not facing the highway or for those who are less sensitive to noise. Hampton Inns have long been our preferred choice for travel due to their great locations, excellent staff, cleanliness, and complimentary breakfast. However, we recently checked out early after only one night of a scheduled three-night stay solely due to the noise from Rt I81. The highway noise was already disruptive due to the hotel's close proximity to the highway; its location at a major interchange made the situation far worse. With an uphill entrance ramp from Progress Ave to I81 North and a downhill exit ramp from I81 South to Progress Ave, the constant noise from heavy trucks accelerating uphill and decelerating downhill using engine compression was overwhelming. We requested an extra pillow(s) to place over our heads while we slept in an attempt to block out the noise but we were informed that ALL pillows were in use. Not one was available. This seemed unlikely for a hotel of this size. We are not 100% sure extra pillows would have helped but, in any event, we were unable to get any sleep. Other guests we spoke with noted that rooms at the front of the hotel were quieter, so this is something to consider when booking a room. After searching for alternatives, we found a very quiet inn less than a mile away and enjoyed a peaceful two-night stay. We also had breakfast at a nearby bagel shop, which we found to offer a more satisfying selection than the Hampton’s complimentary breakfast. Based on this experience, we will not be returning to this location for our yearly visit to the Harrisburg Outdoor Show or for any other reason.

However, a significant point of feedback revolves around noise, specifically from Interstate 81. Due to the hotel's close proximity to the highway and a major interchange with uphill entrance and downhill exit ramps, noise from accelerating and decelerating heavy trucks can be a considerable issue for some guests, particularly in rooms facing the highway. Guests sensitive to noise are advised to request rooms at the front of the hotel, away from the highway, as these are reported to be quieter. Another area of concern mentioned by some guests relates to room cleanliness, with specific instances of toilets, showers, and sinks not being adequately cleaned upon check-in, and inconsistent daily housekeeping services. Additionally, there have been instances where common amenities like extra pillows were unavailable, which can impact guest comfort. While the complimentary breakfast is a feature, some guests have expressed a preference for alternative nearby dining options for a more satisfying selection.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Harrisburg/North typically promotes itself as a reliable and comfortable choice for travelers in the Harrisburg area, offering the consistent quality expected from the Hampton Inn brand. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," the hotel's key value propositions include its convenient location, complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and access to an indoor pool and fitness center. As part of the Hilton family of brands, the hotel participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, allowing guests to earn points for their stays and redeem them for future travel or other benefits.
While specific promotional offers can vary seasonally and are best found on the hotel's official website or through direct booking, Hampton Inn often provides special rates for advance purchases, long stays, and discounts for AAA and AARP members, as well as government and military personnel. The hotel emphasizes its family-friendly environment and its suitability for both business and leisure travel due to its comprehensive amenities and strategic location. Despite some reported challenges with noise and occasional cleanliness concerns, the hotel continues to be a popular choice due to its brand recognition, accessible location, and the general convenience it offers to travelers passing through or visiting Pennsylvania's capital region. Feb 06, 2025 · Steve GibsonWe got a king bed suite. Room was very spacious and the location was great. It was the cleanliness that was not good. They don’t clean these rooms well. We checked in and toilet was not clean. Later, we found bunch of hair in the shower and bathroom sink from the previous guests. The next day, the cleaning person came to “clean” our room. He didn’t do anything except vacuum and leave the bed undone and everything else as it was. They didn’t take the dirty towels away and they didn’t refill new towels. Overall, the hotel is good but our room was definelty not cleaned well before and while we were there.
Jan 19, 2025 · Vanessa & Joe VitielloVisited this hotel February 2025 The front desk was pleasant and polite. The room was nice and smelled clean upon entering the room. Breakfast area was clean and neat with plenty of seating. The only recommendation would be ask for a room away from the highway, for it is really close and noisy.
Mar 02, 2025 · Bruce BieberTerrible - do not stay here. While the reception at the night shift was nice amid the clogged toilets plus locked bathroom that can’t get fix overnight, the staff during the day is condescending and irresponsible. To top the cake, my husband lost his 350$ jacket and couldn’t retrieve it.
Apr 29, 2025 · Ho LinhDisappointed in Hilton!! This is the second one we stayed in traveling North for a family emergency and it was a little run down. The chair in our room and the carpet had big stains in it. The bathroom tiles had mold on them, floor was sticky and towels werr really worn. Plus I booked a king room online and when we got there the clerk said she changed it to a queen because they were booked up and we were later checking in???? Plus we're Hilton Honors customers and again no water!! I may need to go back to the Mariott and give them my business since the Hilton doesn't seem to care about their honors customers anymore!!
