Our room was recently remodeled, the beds were very comfortable. It was very nice and quiet. The hot tub was the perfect temperature. I see other recent reviews complaining about some of these things but we did not experience any issues and had a good nights rest.
For local users exploring "Hotels Near Of Me" in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the John Carver Inn & Spa stands as a distinctive and long-standing option. Located at 25 Summer St Suite #1, Plymouth, MA 02360, this hotel offers a blend of Colonial charm and modern amenities, positioning itself as a destination for both leisure and business travelers, particularly those with families or planning events. It is important to note that while the hotel advertises a spa and certain amenities, recent customer feedback suggests a nuanced understanding of their operational status and affiliations is necessary.
The John Carver Inn & Spa is ideally situated in the heart of Historic Plymouth, placing guests within a short walk of the town's most iconic attractions. Its address on Summer Street offers convenient access to significant landmarks such as Plymouth Rock, Mayflower II, and the Pilgrim Hall Museum, all typically within a 10-minute stroll. This prime location allows visitors to immerse themselves in Plymouth's rich history and vibrant cultural district without the need for extensive travel.
The hotel's Colonial-style architecture and setting contribute to a charming New England ambiance. The immediate surroundings include a mix of historical sites, local shops, and diverse dining options. While being centrally located, the hotel aims to provide a comfortable retreat. Guests can easily explore the downtown area on foot, enjoying the unique atmosphere of Plymouth. The hotel is also accessible from major roadways, making it a convenient base for exploring the wider South Shore and Cape Cod regions.
The John Carver Inn & Spa advertises a comprehensive range of services designed to cater to various guest needs. A 24-hour front desk is available to assist with check-in, check-out, and any inquiries. The staff are generally described as friendly and professional, offering helpful assistance. Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected.
A significant draw of the hotel is its Pilgrim Cove Indoor Theme Pool, featuring an 80-foot water slide, waterfalls, and a Jacuzzi set amidst a replica of Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower. This themed pool is highly popular, especially with families and children, and is a key selling point for the hotel. However, recent reviews indicate some operational issues with the pool amenities, specifically the hot tub and sauna, with reports of them being cold or out of order for extended periods. It is also noted that the pool area can become very crowded, especially during children's birthday parties, which can impact the experience for general guests seeking relaxation.
The hotel also features a full-service spa. However, crucial customer feedback clarifies that "The Spa at the John Carver Inn" and "CJ's Bar and Grille" (the on-site restaurant) are not directly affiliated with the inn and rent their respective spaces. This means guests booking a "spa day" should be aware that spa treatments do not necessarily include access to dedicated spa relaxation amenities beyond the general hotel pool/hot tub area, which, as mentioned, has faced operational challenges. This distinction is vital for managing guest expectations, particularly for those envisioning a comprehensive, integrated spa experience. CJ's Bar and Grille offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, providing convenient on-site dining.
Other services typically include a fitness center, business center, meeting and banquet facilities, and wedding services. The hotel is also pet-friendly, though this may come with specific restrictions or fees. Free self-parking is available on site.
The John Carver Inn & Spa offers 80 guest rooms and suites, many of which have been recently remodeled. Rooms are generally described as clean and comfortable, with comfortable beds being a consistent positive. Standard in-room amenities typically include flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-refrigerators, coffee makers, and private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. Some luxury suites offer additional features such as fireplaces and oversized whirlpool tubs, providing an enhanced level of comfort.
The standout feature of the hotel remains the Pilgrim Cove Indoor Theme Pool. This unique aquatic area with its waterslide and themed elements is a major attraction, particularly for families. The hotel also boasts a fitness room with various exercise machines. The on-site restaurant, CJ's Bar and Grille, provides a convenient dining option, often praised for its local cuisine. For events, the hotel offers significant meeting and conference space, including a ballroom, making it a suitable venue for various gatherings, from corporate events to weddings.
However, it is important to reiterate the customer feedback regarding the condition and operation of certain amenities. While the hotel actively advertises a hot tub and sauna, recent reviews highlight issues with their temperature and functionality. The general cleanliness and maintenance of the pool area, including "heavy chlorine levels" and a "slimey" floor, have also been points of concern for some guests, suggesting that while the facilities are present, their operational quality may vary. Guests looking for a pristine and fully functional spa and pool experience should consider this feedback.
For local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," the John Carver Inn & Spa frequently participates in various promotional campaigns. These can include discounts for booking directly, seasonal packages, and special rates for groups or events. It is common for hotels of this type to offer discounts for AARP and AAA members, as well as potential government or military rates. Specific packages might combine accommodation with spa treatments or dining credits, though guests should clarify the exact terms and conditions of these offers, especially regarding the spa's independent operation.
Given the mixed reviews concerning amenity functionality, it is particularly advisable for potential guests using "Hotels Near Of Me" to contact the hotel directly (using phone numbers (508) 746-7100 or +1 508-746-7100) to confirm the current operational status of specific facilities like the hot tub and sauna before booking. While the hotel often promotes its "Spa" and "Pilgrim Cove Indoor Theme Pool," verifying the condition of these features firsthand can help manage expectations. Online travel agencies (OTAs) on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" will also list available deals and guest reviews, which provide further insight. The hotel aims to be a family-friendly destination, and its unique pool certainly serves this purpose, making it a strong contender for those prioritizing a fun water experience for children, provided the operational aspects meet their expectations.

Mar 29, 2025 · Ken DombeckIN RESPONSE TO THE HOTELS REPONSE: no, I am not confused I do infact have a spa treatment booked, you do not have amenities strictly for spa procedures. I am now expected to walk into a spa and have a massage when I've had no chance to relax or sit in a quiet room or enjoy a hot tub or anything. So no, again not confused. This is like a spa in a mall you just walk into for a quick service not an all exclusive spa.(Ladies at the spa clarified that they are NOT apart of the inn and they rent the space) - CJs the restaurant on premisis also said they rent and are not affiliated with the inn DO NOT BOOK!! Warning do NOT BOOK This was booked for my birthday with the original plan being a spa day and a stay at the inn. That's not the set up of this place at all. Their spa is not with its own amenities you do not get a relaxing day and a spa service. Instead you get their hotel amenities which do not work, and after reading reviews I can see they've not worked for the last YEAR!! COMICAL. the hot tub is freezing. The sauna is small and out dated. The staff is well versed in their script of " oh no I'll let the front desk know!!" "We are working on getting it going right now, shouldn't take more than 30 minutes --- maintenance is on it --- we are waiting for a part to have it fixed" We checked in at 3pm... They finally managed to "fix" the hot tub at 8pm and than abruptly kicked us out at 955pm because the pool was closed . Also, walked into the pool area to approximately 35 children or more. Apparently 3 children's birthday pool parties were happening. How can 1 lifeguard in sweatpants a hoodie and a hat keep an eye on 35 children ? Weird. At the very least we ended up in one of the newer renovated rooms, and it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The fact this hotel continues to advertise amenities that they are to cheap to run or to properly fix and that this has been reviewed for OVER A YEAR. And the owner has not solved this issue. Shame on you. I will be calling the BBB to submit a report on this hotel, they are scamming guests and inaccurately listing their amenities. Now, if I only wanted to bring the kids for a fun pool day with their friends than this place suffices for that. I think it's acceptable to bring the kids for a few hours to enjoy the water slide and pool. ( But even that is a bit of a stretch due to the heavy chlorine levels, cloudiness of the pool , the floor is slimey, and the water is freezing, and the life guard is in full cloths )
Mar 23, 2025 · Criss AffonsoThe customer service here was terrible. I reserved two days, was called at 5pm (six hours after checkout time) and told I should have checked out. Never have I ever stayed at a hotel that allows guests to stay six hours after checkout, and send no housekeeping. After the front desk person corrected himself to see I had reserved for two nights, he informed me the maintenance staff had gone for the day. I'd requested maintenance to fix my clogged bathroom sink- it was clogged when I checked in the night before. We waited till the morning to report it out of courtesy to the night front desk staff. I want offered another room or an apology, just that he obviously forgot or didn't care to put a maintenance request in. I guess I was expected to stay two nights in a hotel without a working sink. The front desk person from the night before was kind, helpful and considerate. The man working the day shift is a nightmare. We had planned to book our family reunion here for the kids in autumn. There's no way I will expose my family to this type of treatment.
Apr 10, 2025 · Margaret St JohnWe attended a function at this hotel, and I have to say it was one of the best in the past few years. The room was spacious and clean, location was prominent with easy walking distance to every amenity plus lots of free parking, and the service for check-in, waitstaff during our function, and everything else was smooth and gracious. The only fault I could find was with the bar service, which I had noted in my review of the on-site restaurant, but basically unless you're going for bottled (industrial) beer you can forget about cocktails or wine. It is available but it isn't anything you'd want to consume.
Mar 27, 2025 · Frederick WrightI've never reviewed a place before. I'll start by saying staff was friendly and there were some updates in the room. However, we came during vacation week mainly to use the pool. The pool are is much smaller than expected. I wish I'd read more reviews because I would have seen numerous complaints about water temperature. The pool room itself is freezing, kids were literally shivering with blue lips. The water was also super cold and the hot tub was a mere lukewarm bath. Lots of people complained so obviously staff is aware, but apparently they don't care. Also, went to hotel restaurant. Servers were nice, but drinks were very weak and no one in our party of 11 liked their food! Apparently people here don't like privacy because there's sliding doors on room bathrooms with no locks, no mirrors in room other than bathroom which made it hard to get ready with teen girls. Lastly, I have stayed in tons of hotels, some have included breakfast, some not, but NEVER have i stayed at a place that didn't have complimentary coffee in the morning. I simply would never stsg here again. Us and our friends were so happy we only booked one night, not two. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because the staff we encountered was actually nice. Do better John Carver Inn.
