Very clean, hotel, small and homey, but very efficient and up-to-date modern. A nice continental breakfast. The rooms were very clean. The whole place was very clean. The front desk staff, MG and Sam were both very friendly and helpful. I thought above and beyond the call of duty! Thank you, ladies very much.We so enjoyed our stay there, if we’re ever in that area again, we would definitely stay there.
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sylva Dillsboro Area, located at 89 Rufus Robinson Rd, Sylva, NC 28779, USA, serves as an option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for travelers visiting the Sylva and Dillsboro region of Western North Carolina. This introduction aims to provide an objective and detailed overview of the hotel, synthesizing information from its brand standards, publicly available descriptions, and, critically, a range of customer reviews which present contrasting experiences. This balanced approach is intended to offer a realistic expectation for potential guests.
The environment of Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sylva Dillsboro Area is designed to be a compact, efficient, and typically modern lodging option, aligning with the Microtel brand's focus on streamlined comfort. Positive reviews describe the hotel as "small and homey, but very efficient and up-to-date modern" and emphasize its cleanliness, noting "Very clean, hotel," and "The whole place was very clean." However, this positive sentiment is starkly contrasted by other reviews describing the place as "gross," "surprisingly disgusting," with "Old decor" and being "Gross smelling." This dichotomy suggests that the cleanliness and perceived modernity of the environment might be inconsistent or highly subjective among guests. The hotel's location on Rufus Robinson Road places it near the scenic attractions of Western North Carolina, including the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Western Carolina University, and Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort. Its proximity to these popular destinations makes it a convenient base for exploring the area. As a Microtel, it generally adheres to a consistent architectural style that prioritizes function over elaborate aesthetics, aiming for a neat and functional appearance. Parking is typically available on-site, providing convenience for guests traveling by car.
The services offered at Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sylva Dillsboro Area are characteristic of a budget-friendly hotel, aiming to provide essential amenities for a comfortable stay. A key service often highlighted is the complimentary continental breakfast. While some guests appreciate it as "A nice continental breakfast," specific details on the variety or quality of items are not provided in the positive reviews, leaving room for individual interpretation. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is a standard offering across all guest rooms and public areas, enabling guests to stay connected. The hotel typically provides a 24-hour front desk service, which is crucial for guests arriving at various times. However, one review explicitly mentions an extremely negative experience where a guest was "summoned to the front desk to 'finish checking in' at 1:38 am!!!" after a late check-in, indicating potential issues with the check-in process or staff conduct at certain times. Positive reviews, on the other hand, commend the "front desk staff, MG and Sam" for being "very friendly and helpful" and going "above and beyond the call of duty," suggesting that staff quality can be inconsistent. The hotel is generally pet-friendly, allowing guests to travel with their furry companions, although specific policies and potential fees should always be confirmed directly with the hotel. Other services might include daily housekeeping (though often lighter for extended stays), and possibly business services like fax and copy facilities.
The features of the guest rooms at Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sylva Dillsboro Area are designed for efficiency and basic comfort, aligning with the Microtel brand's philosophy. Rooms typically include amenities such as a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, and climate control (air conditioning/heating). While some reviews praise the functionality, stating "The rooms were very clean," others are critical, mentioning "TV didn't work right" and "cold water in the shower." This again points to potential inconsistencies in room maintenance and quality. Most Microtel properties feature specially designed "Dream Well" beds, aiming to provide a comfortable sleeping experience, though specific guest feedback on bed comfort is not universally positive in the provided reviews. Suites, where available, would typically offer slightly more space and potentially a separate living area. For added convenience, rooms often include a microwave and a mini-refrigerator, allowing guests to store and prepare simple snacks or meals. Ironing facilities and a hairdryer are generally standard. The design of Microtel rooms is often compact, maximizing space efficiency, which may contribute to the "small and homey" feel mentioned by some guests. Given the conflicting reviews, it is advisable for guests with specific needs or expectations regarding room features to verify them directly with the hotel prior to booking.
From a promotional standpoint, Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, as a brand, positions itself as a reliable and affordable lodging option, often emphasizing cleanliness and efficiency. While specific, ongoing promotional offers for this particular Sylva Dillsboro Area location are best confirmed through direct inquiry or major booking platforms, typical promotions across the Wyndham family of brands include:

Apr 17, 2025 · Lori RoshonWow, what a gross place. Surprisingly disgusting. Old decor. Gross smelling. Oh well, it's got a bed and that's all I needed. Update: cold water in the shower. TV didn't work right. We checked in at like 1 Am, and my wife was summoned to the front desk to "finish checking in" at 1:38 am!!! This is seriously one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. And they charged us almost 100 more than what our receipt says. It's not a hold! Worst experience I've ever had.
Apr 05, 2025 · Antal BokorThis is a really nice hotel. The rooms I have stayed in are very nice and comfortable. All of the staff that I have met, MG, Robert, & Tuck, are very nice, pleasant, and helpful. Blake, the GM, is also very nice. I read reviews where things weren't so great. Well, they are working hard to correct all the errors and make this a much better experience for everyone.
Mar 31, 2025 · Kelly STerrible stay… I am not exaggerating when I say literally everything was broken!!! Tv, clock , phone, iron, ironing board, shower, shower curtain, ice and vending machines across hallway. Although had late checkout , cleaning opened our door while we were in there twice the first time coming in!!! We could not get fresh wash clothes the next morning because they hadn’t done laundry yet!!!
May 14, 2025 · Stacey McNultyMy husband got injured in the Appalachian Mountains and I had to drive to get him with less than a few hours notice. I drove 14 hours to get him, and had to book a hotel so we could sleep a bit and he could get some hot water on his wounds. I booked via mobile as I was making my way out. At no point did any part of my experience NOT say Wyndham or Microtel on it, nor did any employee I spoke with (one named James at Wyndham reservations, which I know now may be Agoda, Guru, Priceline, GetARoom.Com or Guru, though no one can tell me which -- no one identified the reservation which I made on the phone with them as I drove- no one told me I was booking through a third party. I was quoted 123 a night. I paid over the phone. Again, never told this was a third party. We got to the room around 1 or 2 am. The front desk couldn't find the reservation right away. Then she did. She had us fill out the registration form, but then something wasn't working. So she had us fill out a dummy form, with no room or reservation info. This took about 20 minutes in the middle of the night and my husband was with me and the luggage, in pain and hoping to get to bed/hot shower. As soon as we got in the elevator we could smell cigarette smoke everywhere. When we got to the room it was dirty and dusty, with stains on the comforters and the seat by the window and dirt in the bathroom. The cable box and TV were not working. We were tired so my husband figured out the remote had no batteries and figured out how to set up the cable anyway. But when he went to take a shower to help with his injury and ease his pain, there was no hot water at all. We called down to the front desk and she told us we should wait a few minutes, it might just be they're out of it (at 3 am this is a weird time to be out of it) and at the same time asked me to come back down to refill out the registration form with my valid driver's license. So I did that, and she copied my license. Keep in mind this reservation was already pre-paid. So as I'm doing that she said she can check other rooms to see if they have hot water and move us if so. But it turns out there's just no hot water. Ok, we still need a place to stay, this is pre-paid, it's almost 3 am, and obviously things are already going very wrong. She said she'll try to fix it in the morning. In the morning as we check out she apologizes again and says she got the rate down to 109 total with tax included. She hands us a piece of paper which at this point i take and head out as we're trying to get home in emergency circumstances. The paper has literally no good information at all. We get home on a saturday and I call the property in Sylva NC where we stayed (Microtel by Wyndham Sylva Dillsboro) and I get Blake. He's super nice and apologetic and says he'd like to refund us for the stay, as the one basic amenity we really needed wasn't available on top of the other issues with the room and the rates. We accept. Should be end of the story but it's only the beginning. He looks up the reservation and tries to refund. It doesn't let him. He says it's through a third party, Guru. He says he'll contact them to get it through, should be about one to two weeks but I can contact them in the meantime or wyndham. At this point all my paperwork and texts still say Microtel by Wyndham and the charge in the bank account shows Microtel- not Guru, Agoda, Priceline.com or any of the other places they claim I booked through that I have not one shred of documentation that I booked through
