Great base of operations when touring the southern Hatfield McCoy Trail System. My wife and I spent five days at Miner’s Hideaway and rode Pinnacle Creek, Warrior, Indian Ridge, and Pocahontas Trails. The home we stayed in had the capacity to sleep 12, though it was just the wife and I. It was spotlessly clean, the trailer parking was ok, and had a nice plus of a garage to park our UTV in. There’s a fire ring with camp wood available, a barbecue pit in the very nice outdoor area. There is a community connector to one of the HMT on the road that the house is on, and somewhat close trailering to the other three HMTs in the area. The host, Kim, check in with us by text from time to time to make sure we were doing ok, and was very professional in handling our reservation. Will definitely keep them on my short list for a return visit!

This focus means that every aspect of the stay is tailored to the needs of riders, ensuring a seamless transition from comfortable lodging to thrilling trail exploration. It's a testament to West Virginia's growing reputation as an outdoor adventure destination, providing a specialized resort experience that truly embraces the spirit of the Hatfield-McCoy region.

Miners Hideaway ATV Resort is located at 583 Cemetery Hill Rd, Matoaka, WV 24736, USA. This address places it squarely within the prime riding territory of the Southern Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. For West Virginians, accessibility to this area is primarily via state routes that branch off major interstates like I-77. From Charleston to the north, or from Princeton/Bluefield to the south, the drive to Matoaka involves navigating scenic country roads, which are part of the charm of reaching this adventurous destination.

A key highlight of Miners Hideaway's location is its direct or very close community connector access to segments of the Hatfield-McCoy Trails. Reviews explicitly mention a community connector to one of the HMTs on the road where the houses are located, making it exceptionally convenient for riders to literally ride straight from their lodging to the trails. This "ride in, ride out" capability is a major draw for ATV/UTV enthusiasts, eliminating the need to trailer machines daily. Specifically, it's noted to be just two minutes from the Indian Ridge Trail System and the Pocahontas Trail System, with the Pinnacle Creek connector about a 20-minute drive away. This proximity to multiple trail systems allows guests to explore a vast network of trails with varying difficulty levels. The resort's location in Matoaka also means that riders can potentially access ATV-friendly towns for gas, food, and supplies directly from the trails, provided local laws and safety guidelines are followed. Ample parking for trucks and trailers is a critical feature, addressing a common concern for ATV groups. Very nice place, tight corner to swing a trailer, but the houses were well kept, garages were fantastic to store the machines. Definitely try this place!

Perfectly quaint little place. Great for bigger groups that don't want to be packed in on top of each other.
