I had a wonderful experience at the lodge. I was greeted by a smiling face and given some nice restaurant suggestions. The town is cute and people are super friendly. They have a pool and hot tub. The breakfast is included. You can’t go wrong!! Lovely and friendly staff. It was a great layover spot for me from Baltimore to Toronto.

Mar 20, 2025 · Laura McCormackThe staff was very friendly and professional. Whoever the young woman was who stationed the swimming pool also has a gift of a singing voice. If she is reading this, go sing the national anthem, you got this! The first room we stayed in was lacking with the hot water but the front desk moved us into another room and we had no issues after that. I appreciate the manner in which this was handled from the staff. I suspect this was a one off and hopefully they can resolve this issue for this particular room before someone less forgiving and far more self-agrandizing, snarky, and bloated with a narcissistic sense of entitlement complains about it. The simming pool had a maximum depth of 6ft, which is not something I typically see in most hotels. 4ft seems to be the norm, so kudos here as well. The hot tub is about what I expect but the saunas were nice to see as well. The rooms in general met expectations, nothing broken, nothing dirty, nothing missing, no foul odors, no slamming doors in the middle of the night. The hotel was quiet at night, no loud and obnoxious frat party jive. The location is the best attribute as it is located within walking distance of all the primary establishments along the strip. There is also a playground next to the hotel for your kids to burn off residual energy after being out all day and a public swimming pool next to the playground. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because the breakfast is very unimaginative. The same 2 hot items each day, imitation scrambled egg stuff and sausage links. There are bagels and bread but not much else. Breakfast is boring here so much so I picked up McDonald's on the third day but if you read my comments about the McDonalds in Wellsboro, you will see that was hardly an upgrade. Otherwise, we had a great stay here and I would recommend this to anyone looking for lodging at Wellsboro.
Apr 22, 2025 · Lightning ElkI ended up here by accident. I'd booked another motel but due to traffic and my kids never ending need to pee, we didn't make it in time for check in. I'm so glad we didn't. At 11.30pm, after a desperate Google, I found Penn Wells Lodge. I was nervous staying somewhere I hadn't googled but one quick conversation with Paige at the front desk and I knew God was watching over us. She's an angel. Despite the ridiculous hour, she found us a room, shared a beautiful smile and as if that wasn't enough, offered us bagels and muffins from the kitchen. She had great local knowledge and advice. Can't wait to try out a few of her recommendations. The town itself is so cute. I'm writing this as I sit, eating their breakfast, looking out the window at a Narnia style lamppost, adorned with a Christmas wreath as snow glistens on the bushes around the edge of the car park. The beds last night were big and soft, the room was perfectly clean, the eggs, sausages, bagels, porridge, Starbucks coffee, cereals and juice are all exactly what I needed after a whole day of driving yesterday. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Penn Wells. Management, if you are reading this, please thank and acknowledge Paige for us. She is such a credit to your business.
Dec 19, 2024 · Kim NevilleI was totally shocked at how dirty my room was after I saw all the great reviews. The kerig was covered in dust and just as dirty inside. The lights and head board were covered in thick dust, the floor was half vacuumed, and there was hair on the bathroom floor. It's pretty bad when you have to clean the room after you've paid $139 for one night. Management needs a wake-up call one housekeeping. Totally disgusting!
Feb 06, 2025 · Carol McPhersonSo first off make sure you understand this is not a lodge. There is absolutely nothing lodge like about it. The pictures are misleading as they have a photo of the historic hotel as its first one. Think more like motel that was added onto to make a hotel. When we first arrived they checked us into one of the motel rooms. I was not happy about this as the price is double what I would expect to pay for a motel. Upon expressing to them my displeasure they were willing to put me in a different room inside the hotel. The rooms are very basic but clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The first floor common area reminds me of soe.thing you'd see at a holiday Inn. Very chain hotel like. There is a real fireplace with some seating around it but otherwise nothing special. They do have a pool and hot tub neither of which we used so I can comment on that.
