Pocono Manor golf course is just in terrible shape because the cart paths are badly in need of repair and leaves are all over the golf course and the greens are so hard and fast that the golf balls just roll off the greens and every green is pitched so much that the golf balls just roll of the greens all the time and the off season that we have to pay $35 dollars a round of golf for this time of year are just ridiculous !! The golf course is in disrepair for many years now!!

The Pocono Manor Area is renowned for its expansive and picturesque environment. The Pocono Manor Resort, established in 1902 and listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, historically encompassed 3,500 acres of natural beauty. While the main historic hotel building suffered a fire in late 2019, the surrounding property and its amenities continue to operate and define the "Pocono Manor Area" experience. The ambiance is one of traditional mountain charm, with rolling hills, lush greenery, and serene landscapes that change beautifully with each season. This setting provides a tranquil escape from urban life, offering a sense of space and connection with nature. The resort aims to blend its historical character with modern comforts, though specific details on rebuilt or significantly renovated structures following the fire are not universally clear in all current public information, beyond plans for future developments like Margaritaville Resort Village on adjacent land. However, the overarching feel remains that of a classic Poconos retreat.
The services and amenities within the Pocono Manor Area, particularly those associated with the Pocono Manor Resort, are quite extensive and designed to cater to a variety of interests. A significant draw is the 18-hole championship golf course, designed by renowned architects like Donald Ross and William Flynn, which has hosted numerous professional events. Beyond golf, the resort has historically offered indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa and health club, a fitness center, and various recreational activities such as horseback riding, hiking, and potentially ATV trails. Dining options on the property, such as the Mountain View dining room and a bar/lounge, provide on-site culinary experiences. The resort also offers facilities for events and conferences, including significant meeting and banquet space, making it a viable option for both leisure and business gatherings. Standard room amenities typically include air conditioning, flat-screen televisions, complimentary wireless internet access, private bathrooms with toiletries, and conveniences like irons and desks. The presence of a 24-hour front desk, gift shops, and an arcade/game room further enhance the guest experience. The resort aims to provide a comprehensive package of services, allowing guests to enjoy a full vacation without needing to leave the premises.
The most distinctive feature of the Pocono Manor Area is its historic legacy as one of the original and grand resorts in the Pocono Mountains. This heritage, combined with its expansive natural setting, offers a unique blend of old-world charm and outdoor adventure. The championship golf course, with its storied history and challenging design, is a significant draw for golf enthusiasts. The ability to engage in a diverse range of activities—from golfing and swimming to hiking and potentially spa treatments—all within one integrated property, is a key selling point. The resort's capacity to host large events and conferences further differentiates it. For families, the presence of pools, game rooms, and outdoor activities provides ample entertainment. The "homely atmosphere" mentioned by one reviewer suggests a welcoming and comfortable environment, despite the potential for grandiosity often associated with historic resorts. The emphasis on natural beauty and outdoor recreation truly captures the essence of the Poconos experience.
Promotional information for the Pocono Manor Area, specifically concerning the Pocono Manor Resort, would typically be found through its official website or various travel booking platforms. While specific deals for the resort's post-fire operational status may vary, historically, promotions have included packages that bundle accommodation with golf rounds, spa treatments, or meal credits. Seasonal promotions are common, especially around holidays or during peak times for activities like fall foliage viewing or winter sports (though ski areas like Camelback are a short drive away). For the golf course, there might be promotions for off-season rates or loyalty programs for frequent players, as indicated by one review mentioning a $35 off-season round. Information regarding special events, such as Thanksgiving family traditions or other seasonal gatherings, would also be part of promotional efforts. It's advisable for prospective visitors to check direct with the resort or relevant booking sites for the most up-to-date offers and availability, as the property continues to evolve.
An objective introduction to the Pocono Manor Area must present a balanced view of customer experiences, as reflected in the provided reviews. One highly positive review highlights the "homely atmosphere," "comfortable beds," and "good pool." The kitchen staff is praised as "superb" with "always always always been good" cooking. This reviewer expresses a fondness for the location, recalling it as a family Thanksgiving tradition, and acknowledging the price as "quite the price of course, but I've seen worse." This perspective suggests a positive and nostalgic connection to the resort, appreciating its comforts, amenities, and particularly the dining experience.
Conversely, a critical review focuses specifically on the condition of the "Pocono Manor golf course," describing it as being in "terrible shape." The reviewer points out issues such as "badly in need of repair" cart paths, "leaves all over the golf course," and greens that are "so hard and fast that the golf balls just roll off the greens" due to significant pitching. The price of "$35 dollars a round of golf for this time of year" is deemed "ridiculous" given the disrepair, which has apparently persisted "for many years now." This review paints a picture of neglected golf course maintenance and dissatisfaction with the value offered.
These contrasting views illustrate that while the Pocono Manor Area, and specifically the resort, holds a cherished place for some due to its comfortable atmosphere and positive dining experiences, other aspects, such as the maintenance of the golf course, have been a source of significant disappointment. For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me," this suggests that Pocono Manor offers a charming and amenity-rich environment for those seeking a traditional resort experience with a focus on comfortable stays and good food, as highlighted by the positive review. However, if golf is a primary reason for visiting, the critical feedback on the course's condition warrants careful consideration. It underscores the importance of verifying the current state of specific amenities when planning a visit to ensure it aligns with individual expectations.

Oct 31, 2024 · John BalohMy goodness do I love the Pocono Manor! Comfortable beds, homely atmosphere, good pool, and all the utilities and services you could want! It's at quite the price of course, but I've seen worse! Further more, the kitchen staff is superb and the cooking I've had there has always always always been good! I miss going down there every Thanksgiving, which use to be a family tradition. Hopefully I'll be able to visit again soon.
