They are remodeling from a Days Inn into a Spark by Hilton. Let’s get that out of the way. Yes, breakfast isn’t really being served, there’s storage trailers outside, the elevator takes some patience, molding missing from hallways. Yes, they are transitioning indeed. That said, I cannot overlook safety, security and basic comfort needs and I had concerns with all of these things during our visit to this hotel. The picture I am showing are of two screws found on the carpet in the room. Thankfully, we didn’t step on them. Yes, I know they were probably left by a worker during the remodel but to me this is careless and shoddy work. They make magnetic pickup tools for this very reason. The picture of the outlet is below the nightstand. My Dad uses a CPAP and he had nowhere to plug it in as you can see. I went to Walmart to pick up an extension cord. Again, this is shoddy craftsmanship on the part of the workers or trying to do something on the cheap. Obviously, the new Spark bed frame didn’t fit where the outlet was from the Days Inn so they were “creative” in carving out a notch in the bedframe post. They could have just moved the outlet but I am sure either the electrician was lazy or the owner didn’t want to pay to have that done. It’s a shame, because that halfa** effort will now follow through to the Hilton branded hotel that this will be soon. It was almost comical when we first saw it actually, but then reality set in that my Dad can’t sleep without his machine so off to Walmart I went at 10pm. On the second night we were there, we were awoken by very loud banging on somebody else’s door around 2:30am. Then there was yelling. There was no phone in our room so I tried calling the hotel from my phone. It rang and rang but nobody answered. I thought about calling the police, but I happened to look out the window and there were three police cars out there already. Finally, I also need to mention that when we arrived, there was urine on the toilet seat and bowl rim and there was no ice bucket in the room or cups either. Yes, this is a bit of a “Frankenstein” of a hotel right now and I knew that going in and so I lowered my expectations. However, the issues I mentioned above cannot be blamed on the transition. From shoddy/lazy craftsmanship on the remodel to poor housekeeping standards, there is really no excuse. And, if you are the owner of this hotel and reading this, you really need to address these issues before you do become a Hilton-branded property, they don’t put up with the same things that Wyndham may have when it was a Days Inn. I stay in a lot of hotels each year and I actually stayed here twice when it was a Days Inn. Personally, I will wait to consider staying here once it does become a Spark to see what others say. Please don’t respond to this review blaming the issues on the remodel either. The issues are due to poor oversight of the construction and poor housekeeping standards.

Apr 27, 2025 · Justin StichtStayed here for a night with friends. Location makes it a bit tricky to get to. They are obviously going thru a major renovation and face lift. Entrance/lobby was clean and bright. Front desk attendant was friendly. Halls have been repainted but the carpeting hadn't been covered so splattered paint was evident. Room was clean; no odors. Bathroom was bright and clean. Plenty of towels. TV was good sized. Room refrigerator worked fine. All was fine until I pulled back the sheets on the bed. There was an empty, shot sized "Fireball" liquor bottle under the sheets. Made a thorough bed check along with the 2nd bed; no more surprises. Pool was out of order. The continental breakfast is very basic: mini-donuts, cold cereal, etc. The waffle iron was out of order. No doubt, once the renovation is complete, this will be a nice place. Right now, it is average.

White gum stuck to the top of a white marble ledge, furnishings in disrepair, cleaning rags left on the top of the closet shelf, no towels in the bathroom. We left and the manager told me I would be refunded once I contacted Expedia. When Expedia contacted the manager he said it would violate his refund policy. I did not get refunded.
Mar 30, 2025 · Vicky RhodesWe were willing to stick it out the first night despite the plaster dust and construction debris littering the hallways and rooms and the unsettling stains and scratches on the furniture (which appeared to be taken off the curb). Then my daughter unfolded the “clean” towels to find what appeared to be feces on them. We left immediately and have filed a complaint with the La Crosse County Health Department.
Mar 02, 2025 · Chris PariseySummary: guest comfort is NOT a priority of the hotel manager, TUSHAR PATEL. Smoke alarm missing. Extremely low quality mattress. Couch and coffee table were removed from room and a full size fridge was in their place. Breakfast was subpar - no hot eggs or sausages, coffee empty, cereal was stale. Details: When booking our 2 night stay in January 2025, the hotel staff DID NOT mention the on-going construction and limited breakfast options at the hotel. Upon our late arrival to the hotel, we were assigned Room 323. The king bed literally was shaped like a bowl! When inquiring with staff the next morning, we mentioned the "bowl" bed in our room. Staff asked if we were in room 323? YES we were! Their front desk has received multiple complaints about the bed! Later when requesting a free night's stay with the manager, TUSHAR PATEL, he noted there have been NO complaints about the bed from guests. He was extremely rude and dismissive to my wife. We did receive 50% off the first night and were moved to a different room, Room 225. However, this room did not have a smoke alarm - fire code violation! At midnight on the second night, workers began loudly pounding in the room directly above us! Apparently, the QUIET HOURS of 10pm to 6am is NOT applicable to the hotel staff and workers, only the guests. We could not check out soon enough and will not be back while TUSHAR PATEL is the hotel manager.
