Good news: great area and amazing reviews. Bad news: unbelievably slow internet (.9 mb/s), two bathrooms on middle floor are tiny (like you have to straddle the toilet to even shut the door small), deck nails sticking up everywhere, pool table pockets cobbled together, light bulbs out, smoke detectors open and laying on dresser, one of the outdoor viewing stations broken, hot tubs were cold when we arrived (only used one once, but even 4 days later it was never to temp), cleaning was questionable (found random shirt in movie room, ceiling fans dirty, dust all over the cabin). For this being a 'luxury' cabin (we rented from American Patriot Getaways), this was a far cry from my definition of luxury. We have stayed in this area numerous times (I could see two cabins from the deck that we have stayed in before), this is one that I WOULD NOT STAY IN AGAIN! CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!!

Location and Accessibility

**The Bear’s House** is nestled at **1584 Bears Den Way, Sevierville, TN 37862, USA**. Sevierville is a highly popular gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, making this address quite appealing for those looking to explore the natural beauty and myriad attractions of the region. "Bears Den Way" itself suggests a secluded, natural setting, which is often what visitors to the Smokies are seeking.

For Tennesseans, Sevierville is easily accessible from major interstates, including I-40. Whether you're driving from Nashville, Chattanooga, or Knoxville, the journey to Sevierville is generally straightforward. Once you reach the Sevierville area, Bears Den Way would typically branch off from the main tourist arteries, leading you into a more residential or cabin-dense part of the landscape. While specific details on the road condition to the cabin aren't provided, being in a "way" implies it might be a more private or winding road, characteristic of mountain cabins. The location is praised as a "great area" by a recent reviewer, suggesting it offers the desirable Smoky Mountain ambiance and proximity to attractions while providing a sense of retreat.

Services Offered

While The Bear's House is a private vacation rental and not a traditional hotel with front-desk services, it offers a range of amenities typically found in high-end cabins. Based on customer reviews, here’s an overview of what guests anticipate and what is provided:

  • **Accommodation for Groups:** As a 'house' or 'cabin,' it's designed to accommodate larger groups or families, offering multiple rooms and communal living spaces.
  • **Kitchen Facilities:** Guests expect a fully equipped kitchen, although one review noted missing some appliances one might expect in a place of this "caliber."
  • **Entertainment Options:** The cabin is equipped with various entertainment features, including a movie room and a pool table.
  • **Hot Tubs:** The property features hot tubs for relaxation, with one review confirming the presence of "two working hot tubs" during their stay, though initial arrival temperature issues were noted for one.
  • **Outdoor Space:** Decks or viewing stations are part of the outdoor experience, offering opportunities to enjoy the scenic surroundings.

It's important to note that as a self-catering vacation rental, daily housekeeping and on-demand room service, typical of hotels, are not part of the standard offering. Guests are responsible for their own provisions and general upkeep during their stay, with a final cleaning service typically included in the rental fee.

Features / Highlights

The Bear's House, as described by guests, offers several features that contribute to the overall experience, though some aspects have been highlighted for improvement:

  • **Spectacular Views:** A consistent and strongly positive highlight is the "spectacular" view from the cabin. This is a significant draw for anyone visiting the Smoky Mountains, offering breathtaking vistas and a true sense of being immersed in nature. One reviewer even noted being able to see two previously stayed-in cabins from the deck, indicating a prime vantage point.
  • **Multiple Hot Tubs:** The presence of two hot tubs is a definite luxury, providing ample opportunity for relaxation, even if initial heating issues were noted by one guest. This amenity is a highly sought-after feature in mountain cabin rentals.
  • **Dedicated Entertainment Areas:** The inclusion of a movie room and a pool table (despite noted wear) offers indoor entertainment options, crucial for evenings or inclement weather.
  • **Spacious Accommodation:** Being a 'house' or 'cabin' implies ample space for guests, promoting comfort for larger groups, which is often a key requirement for family or group getaways.

However, it's equally important to acknowledge areas highlighted for improvement by recent guests:

  • **Slow Internet Service:** A recurring and significant issue is the "unbelievably slow internet service" (reported as .9 mb/s and "below dial-up speeds"). For many, especially those who need to work remotely or stream content, this is a major drawback.
  • **Maintenance and Cleanliness Concerns:** Several guests reported issues with general maintenance, including deck nails sticking up, light bulbs out, open smoke detectors, broken outdoor viewing stations, and a pool table in disrepair. Cleaning was also questioned, with findings of random items and dirty surfaces upon arrival.
  • **Bathroom Size:** The bathrooms on the middle floor were described as "tiny," requiring guests to "straddle the toilet to even shut the door," which can be a significant comfort issue.
  • **Electronics Malfunctions:** Multiple electronics were reported to be failing during one guest's stay.
  • **Water Supply Issues:** One unfortunate incident involved a complete lack of water on a major holiday, which is a critical service failure.
  • **Lack of "Luxury" Status:** Despite being marketed as a 'luxury' cabin by a rental agency, recent reviews suggest the current condition does not align with a luxury definition, especially given the significant price point.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a private vacation rental, The Bear's House is typically managed by a rental agency, such as American Patriot Getaways, as mentioned in one of the reviews. Therefore, any promotions or special offers would most likely be provided through that agency rather than directly by the property itself. To inquire about potential deals, Tennesseans looking to book should:

  • **Visit the Rental Agency's Website:** Check the website of American Patriot Getaways or any other agency that lists The Bear's House for seasonal discounts, last-minute deals, or holiday packages.
  • **Sign Up for Email Newsletters:** Many rental agencies offer email subscriptions that notify you of upcoming promotions.
  • **Call the Rental Agency Directly:** Sometimes, agents can offer insights into unadvertised specials or advise on the best times to book for better rates.

It is crucial to balance the allure of potential discounts with the critical feedback on the cabin's current condition, especially given the reported "significant amount" paid by recent guests for a less-than-ideal experience.

---

Contact Information

Since The Bear's House is a vacation rental property, direct contact information for the owners is typically not provided publicly. All bookings and inquiries are generally handled through the managing rental agency. Based on the provided information, the mentioned rental agency is American Patriot Getaways.

  • **Address of The Bear's House:** 1584 Bears Den Way, Sevierville, TN 37862, USA

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals (with caveats)

For us Tennesseans, the allure of a Smoky Mountain cabin getaway is undeniable. **The Bear’s House** in Sevierville, with its "great area" and "spectacular view," certainly taps into that desire for a scenic escape. The presence of multiple hot tubs, a movie room, and a pool table also suggests a property geared towards entertainment and relaxation for families or groups. For locals seeking a spacious retreat that can accommodate several people and offers those quintessential mountain views, the fundamental concept of The Bear's House holds appeal.

However, it is crucial for our fellow Tennesseans to approach this particular rental with a realistic understanding of recent guest experiences. While the views are indeed a major highlight, the consistent feedback regarding **"unbelievably slow internet,"** **numerous maintenance issues** (such as deck nails, broken outdoor stations, and non-functional electronics), **questionable cleanliness upon arrival**, and even a significant incident of **no water service** during a holiday, paint a picture far removed from the "luxury" moniker it may once have held or be advertised under. The small bathroom sizes and the general need for an "overhaul and maintenance" also weigh heavily on the overall experience, especially when considering the "significant amount" paid by guests.

Therefore, while the location and the potential for a large group gathering are suitable for locals, it’s imperative to consider if the current state of the property aligns with your expectations for comfort, reliability, and value. If breathtaking views are your absolute top priority and you are prepared to potentially overlook or manage issues related to connectivity, maintenance, and cleanliness, then The Bear's House might still offer a base for your mountain adventures. However, for those seeking a truly seamless, luxurious, and well-maintained experience, especially for the price point, recent reviews suggest that a thorough re-evaluation or inquiry into recent upgrades would be highly advisable before committing to a stay at The Bear's House.

I was the guest of a family member who paid a significant amount for a stay over a holiday weekend (4 days). The amount paid was not reflective of the overall experience I'm sad to say. Between multiple electronics failing, non-existent Internet service (below dial-up speeds, don't even bother), shoddy quality in multiple fixtures, the fact we had to clean some upon arrival, and to top it off, no water on a major holiday, I think we would have been better off at another location. The view was spectacular though and we did have two working hot tubs. I'm sure this place was great several years ago, but the working quality of everything from an electronics and furnishings perspective is in desperate need of an overhaul and maintenance to maintain the "Luxury" moniker, also missing some kitchen appliances one might expect in a place of this calibur. Until the many little issues are resolved, I cannot give this place a good rating I'm afraid.

It gets a 2 star only for the view of the cabin. The view is amazing high up in the mountains. The cabin its self is terrible. Trash along the bank line. Cob webs and infested with lady bugs and stink bugs. Nothing worked in the Cabin. One hot tub was broke other one didn't heat up all the way and it was dirty. Washer and dryer didn't work movie theater was broke. Wifi was also not working so. Had a terrible smell of mold. King room jacuzzi didn't work neither did the shower all the bathrooms are small door hits the sinks. Dishwasher also didn't work lol. In reality everything was broken besides the beds some of the couches didn't want to reclins. Not worth 2k for a weekend. DONT STAY HERE

Great vacation cabin for Pidgeon Forge or surrounding area. 3 levels, slept 8 in our party easily. Well equipped & breathtaking views! Fireworks from Dollywood visible nightly. Plenty to do for kids & adults alike.
