I decided to spend my cat 1-4 award night here; it started rocky with an interaction with an inexperienced, untrained associate who’s unable to handle loyal members properly and insisted on the extra charge for checking earlier than 3pm and missed all the other things she’s supposed to do. Warning: While it says that this is a Hyatt Place hotel, it’s totally different, and many World of Hyatt benefits won’t apply here. Unless you’re a Globalist member, breakfast is not complimentary, unlike other Hyatt Places. The most obvious difference is that the lobby and common areas are clean and updated, but you’ll get that usual Hyatt Place feel inside the room. The Oaken restaurant was cozy and modern, with fantastic staff and good food. It's also worth noting that the rates are higher for this property than Hyatt Place/House in the suburbs, and it’s a category 3 and less amenities like no pool but the fitness room is nicer and bigger than other Hyatt Places. You’ll get a boutique feel like Thompson, but the room is a Hyatt Place. I’m a bit confused with the property’s branding actually. However, there are hard-working and highly professional staff members who make the property worth considering.

As a woman I will say I wish the bathroom products were not "oak" scented (smelled like male products as opposed to neutral scents). The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful; prompt with room delivery and to fix any problem. The restaurant also was fantastic! We had a few dinner here and every one was surprised with the quality of the meals and the service. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Shout-out to Lucas and Robert for being the best receptionists!!

From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for something special, and much of that was thanks to the incredible hospitality provided by Nick and Suzie. Nick greeted me with warmth and enthusiasm, setting the tone for my stay. He ensured that I was comfortably settled into a beautiful room that felt like a home away from home. As someone who doesn't stay in hotels often, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcome and valued I felt right from the start. His attention to detail did not go unnoticed, and it made all the difference. What truly blew me away was the level of service I received. Shortly after checking in, I received a thoughtful text checking on my experience—an incredibly accommodating gesture that I have never before encountered. It demonstrated a level of care and commitment to guest satisfaction that is rare to find in the hospitality industry. Later in the evening, I made my way down to the bar and met Suzie, who absolutely made my night. Not only did she craft an incredible martini, but her warm and friendly demeanor made me feel instantly at ease. I loved that she reminded me I could take my drink back to my room, which was exactly what I did after a long day of work. This stay felt like a genuine retreat, allowing me to unwind and enjoy some much-needed respite. The staff's attention and hospitality transformed what could have been just another work trip into a rejuvenating experience. I wholeheartedly recommend the Forrester Hyatt to anyone looking for a getaway or even just a night away from home. Comfortable beds whose pillows exceed those of any other HP I’ve stayed at nationwide. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a Hyatt Place, but they do everything a little bit better here. Full service restaurant “Oaken” is beneficial given its “remote” location off of 94. Nice upgrade from the typical “H-Bar” and there are tons of dining and entertainment options 2 miles west in Vernon Hills if their menu doesn’t appeal to you. Staff are next level considerate, professional and attentive. I travel 3 weeks out of the month and can’t remember the last time I’ve been greeted courteously, but Nick acknowledged me before I had even gotten through the second set of doors. It’s like they’re actually happy to be here. Fortunately, so am I. Between the beloved familiarity, quality and value I’ve come to expect from the Hyatt name, and the fantastic local “boutique inspired” touches, I’m pleasantly surprised by The Forester. I will be rebooking whenever I’m visiting home in Lake County.
