My family stayed at the Farm in August. My wife found it online researching family-friendly places in New England on our vacation to escape the Texas summer heat. We're all so grateful she did! My young son has mentioned the Farm every single day since we left. Watching him interact with all the animals and running around the open spaces and the trails is something we'll never forget. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. The meals were excellent and offered a variety to keep everyone satisfied. We enjoyed hiking up the mountain, around the trails on the Farm, and the beautiful scenery. Our son was a bit young for some of the planned activities, but loved storytime, petting the bunnies in the barn each morning, and fun with playdough. We hope to come back next year!
For those seeking a memorable escape from the everyday, nestled at the picturesque base of Mount Monadnock in Troy, New Hampshire, lies The Inn at East Hill Farm. This charming, all-inclusive resort offers a truly unique experience, blending the comforts of a family vacation with the authentic charm of a working farm. It's a destination where traditions begin, and generations of families have returned year after year to create cherished memories.
Operating since 1947, The Inn at East Hill Farm is more than just a hotel; it's a place where guests can immerse themselves in farm life. The setting itself is a key part of the experience. Spread across 150 acres, the Inn boasts stunning mountain views and a tranquil, rural environment. The property includes the main inn building, originally built in 1834, and several well-appointed cottages and houses, offering a variety of accommodations to suit different family sizes and preferences. Each room has its own distinct style and charm, with some offering amenities like air conditioning, refrigerators, and fireplaces. While modern conveniences like televisions are available in deluxe rooms and common lounges, the Inn thoughtfully encourages a disconnect from screens to foster genuine family interaction and connection with nature. Free wireless internet access is available, though it鈥檚 referred to as "Country WiFi" due to its sometimes spotty nature, a small reminder of the secluded, peaceful location.
The environment extends beyond the accommodations to the heart of the farm itself. Guests are invited to participate in daily farm activities, providing a hands-on educational experience. Imagine starting your day by milking a cow or goat, collecting fresh eggs for breakfast, or petting friendly bunnies in the barn. The farm is home to heritage breed cows, goats, sheep, and pigs, along with horses, chickens, and other animals, offering endless opportunities for interaction and learning. The changing seasons bring new experiences, from welcoming baby animals in winter to enjoying the reawakening of nature in spring. This direct engagement with farm life is a defining feature and a significant draw for families, particularly children, who often recall their time with the animals long after their stay.
The services at The Inn at East Hill Farm are designed to provide a comprehensive and relaxing vacation. As an all-inclusive resort, rates typically include three delicious home-cooked meals daily, served family style in the spacious dining room. Specialties include homemade breads, fritters with maple syrup, and hearty country breakfasts. Guests can eat as much as they desire, and the kitchen is highly accommodating of special dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and various food allergies, with advance notice. Beyond meals, the Inn offers a bottomless cookie jar and other snacks available throughout the day, ensuring everyone is well-fed and satisfied.
A wide array of activities keeps guests entertained from morning until night, catering to all ages and interests. For aquatic fun, there are two outdoor swimming pools and one indoor pool, along with both indoor and outdoor hot tubs and an indoor sauna. Horseback riding is a popular activity, with trail rides and lessons available; sign-ups are done in person to allow staff to assess rider ability and ensure safety. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking up Mount Monadnock or exploring the numerous trails around the farm. Perkins Pond offers opportunities for boating and fishing in warmer months. In winter, the fun continues with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and supervised sledding (using the farm's sleds). Campfires and s'mores add to the quintessential farm vacation experience.
For children, there's a dedicated recreation program with planned activities such as crafts, storytime, games, and magic shows, featuring entertainers like the famous Jason Perdy. The daily interaction with farm animals, from feeding them to helping with barn chores, is a highlight for many young visitors. Babysitting services can also be arranged upon request, providing parents with some well-deserved downtime.
The Inn at East Hill Farm is not only ideal for family vacations but also serves as a versatile venue for various events. They host weddings with ceremony options on the lawn facing Grand Monadnock, offering a picturesque backdrop for photos, followed by a rustic, home-cooked reception. The Inn also accommodates business conferences and retreats, senior citizen lunches and overnights, and even specialized weekends like country line dance and square dance events. The flexibility in event spaces, including private dining rooms and general event areas, makes it suitable for gatherings of different sizes.
The positive customer reviews consistently highlight the welcoming and helpful staff, the excellent and varied meals, and the sheer abundance of activities. Many guests praise the authentic farm experience and the joy of watching their children interact with the animals and enjoy the open spaces. The sentiment of returning year after year, with some families spanning three generations, speaks volumes about the lasting appeal and the sense of community fostered at the Inn.
For promotional information, The Inn at East Hill Farm frequently updates its event calendar with seasonal happenings and special programs, such as "Grown Up Farm Camp" and specific sauna events like "Got Sauna 2025." While the Inn does not have a liquor license, guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol to consume anywhere on the property, with many local options available for purchase. The Inn is open every day of the year, with the office hours from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, making it accessible for year-round enjoyment. Gratuity is handled by cash or check, with a suggested 15% of the room charge to be divided among the staff. Emergency contact is available 24 hours a day via phone at (603) 242-6495 or +1 603-242-6495.

Feb 20, 2025 路 M CareyWe had an amazing stay at EHF this past weekend. My husband and his family along with another family used to come back in the 90s and wanted to come back with our kids. The kids had such a good time riding ponies, petting all the animals, milking the cows/goats, and doing arts and crafts. The food was amazing and we left every meal stuffed. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed a wonderful massage and a horseback trail ride. We hope to make this a yearly trip!
