***UPDATE AT BOTTOM*** We are currently staying here & it’s been outstanding so far. Hopefully it stays this way so we don’t have to change our review! The place is extremely clean & smells new. Nothing worse than walking into a hotel with a dirty hotel smell. It’s vibrant, it’s recently renovated. The staff are very welcoming & seemingly happy to be at work. The manager/main guy behind desk in late afternoon his name starts with an A and he has a slight accent, was a pleasure. As well as the guy who takes the night shift. They have been very accommodating to our needs. Really no complaints here so far. Restaurant looks nice for breakfast & dinner. Overall a very nice find in the area. *** UPDATED REVIEW: Rest of our stay was still great. Although housekeeping did not come to our room despite having the sign on door flipped to "please come in and clean". We also tried to have breakfast at the restaurant and there was only one bartender and one server. there were several uncleaned tables and we were told we could be sat in 5-10 minutes. so we ended up going elsewhere because if there was a 10 minute wait just to be sat for them to clean empty tables, it would be a while to order and eat. It was clearly a bit disorganized and very understaffed. Hopefully these areas can be improved by our next visit. otherwise a very nice hotel and will keep the 5 stars despite the minor issues we can overlook.

Customer reviews largely confirm the hotel's positive attributes. Guests have reported an "amazing experience," praising the "extremely clean & smells new" environment, "vibrant" atmosphere, and "comfortable rooms that had great views." The staff, particularly the front desk team, receives consistent commendation for being "very welcoming & seemingly happy to be at work," "kind and thorough," and "exceptional." However, some reviews point out areas for improvement. One guest experienced issues with housekeeping not servicing their room despite the "please clean" sign, and encountered disorganization and understaffing at the restaurant during breakfast, leading them to dine elsewhere due to long waits for seating. Another noted the lack of an elevator, which could be an issue for some. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness, modern design, and excellent front-line staff largely outweighs these occasional service hiccups in the eyes of many patrons.

May 19, 2025 · Ryan BroskyGreat customer service, especially Radu who put my mind at ease the minute we arrived (I had read alarming reviews that had me on alert). Radu remained exceptional throughout our stay. My husband & I spent my birthday weekend here in March. Although limited options, we had great food in the restaurant (Helmenway). The bread pudding was amazing. The lobster sliders were not what I'm used to as a New Englander (more like lobster salad, whereas I like mine with "buttah"), but delicious nonetheless. The bartenders made our favorite drinks on request. I have no complaints worth mentioning. It was a great stay. Note: there is no elevator but the hotel has only two floors. If you have certain accessibility needs, including heavy luggage and/or baby carriages, etc. call before you arrive. I am sure that the more notice you give, the more they are able to accommodate.
Apr 10, 2025 · Jacqueline McPhersonI booked the stay for my parents who are older and my father has limited mobility. The staff were incredibly accommodating. We had dinner at the restaurant in the server was very attentive and everyone’s meal was delicious. My parents enjoyed breakfast as well and the ease of being able to just walk straight out from their room was amazing. The front desk staff were so genuinely kind and it’s a wonderful location for anyone looking for being outside of the traffic of Newport, but the ease of access and proximity is perfect to Newport. I’m a local and live downtown and this is where I’m going to send anyone who’s comes to visit me.
May 01, 2025 · Sarah deVriesThe quality of service was above & beyond. One of my daughters has a long list of allergies. Their chef was EXCEPTIONAL, better than any other we've worked with at any hotel or resort, at quickly finding solutions that worked for her and included her. Their "living room" provided a homey space for us to have family members over to enjoy a few hours of games. And at every step, their staff was warm and inviting. Not what I am used to. Thank you for an extraordinary stay!
Feb 10, 2025 · Paul SilvaI had a very disappointing experience at The Pell Hotel in Rhode Island. I was falsely accused of vaping in my room and was hit with a completely unjustified $600 charge. I don’t vape, and there was absolutely no evidence to support their claim — yet they were quick to charge my card without a conversation or proper investigation. To make matters worse, the staff was not friendly or helpful when I tried to dispute the charge. I felt dismissed and unwelcome, and the overall customer service was far from professional. I expected better treatment and accountability from a hotel in this price range. I would not recommend staying here — especially if you value fair treatment and respectful service.
