I cannot say enough good things about The Stable Inn. It is owned by the same great couple who own the mountain bike shop and art gallery in town. They created their inn so that people of more modest means could be able to come to Vermont and not go broke. The rooms are comfortable, immaculate and extremely affordable. Most have a shared bath and there are common areas on both levels as well as a full kitchen to prepare meals. Ideally, you're not going to be spending your vacation in Vermont inside a hotel room, so I didn't see the shared baths as an issue. There is a TV downstairs and also a record player with albums to listen to if you like. Plenty of little nooks for reading, meditation and yoga as well. It's right near a local market and across the street from a bakery. Plus there's a very nice country restaurant in town, and the town Green is a block away. Also, the WIFI really works well, even when they are full. Anni took care of me while I was here and she and her husband really do care about making sure everyone has everything they need for a great stay.

This inn is a great option for budget minded travelers visiting Rochester, VT. Impressively furnished given the modest price. It’s not quite a full-on hotel, but to call it a hostel or a rooming house would be selling it way short. It’s basically a collection of a few dozen simple bedrooms of varying sizes plus a few larger suites. There are several shared bathrooms, a couple shared kitchens, and a couple shared sitting areas. There were only a few other guests the night I stayed so it was peaceful, quiet, and there were no issues with bathroom access or such. It’s like being a guest in someone’s large home, except the host doesn’t live here. They meet you at check in, show you around, give you a key card, and you are on your own. The entire building has been completely renovated within the last year or two so everything is in great shape and very modern. The place is also impressively clean. I was on a solo motorcycle trip so didn’t need anything fancy, just a place to crash after riding, along with a clean bathroom, someplace decent nearby that I could walk to for dinner, and a sofa where I could sit and read before bed. This inn checked all those boxes for me at barely $100 for the room. I will absolutely look here first when visiting the area again. Make a point to have dinner across the street at Maple Soul if they are open when you visit… a fabulous upscale (yet casual) bistro. Rochester is clearly on its way up with the Stable Inn, a nice art gallery, couple good restaurants, a new bicycle shop, etc.

I just adored this place! The Stable Inn was cozy, convenient, and surrounded by the Green Mountains. The owner was very welcoming and took extra time to offer me dining recommendations in the area. I stayed for 4 nights on my solo road trip through Vermont and enjoyed the quaint, rural feel of the area. It felt quiet, calm, and private when I was there (mid-June) and that's exactly what I was hoping for. Having a full kitchen was wonderful, as there are not many dining options close by and those that are nearby have limited hours and are closed 2-3 days per week. I was able to walk to the country store cafe for breakfast and lunch (on the days it was open) as well as the grocery store from the inn. Housekeeping was excellent, parking was easy, and I absolutely loved the little reading nook upstairs filled with short story, essay, and poetry books.
