For Wisconsin residents, a trip to the southwestern part of the state offers a unique escape from the ordinary. The Driftless Area, with its rolling hills and picturesque towns, provides a perfect backdrop for a peaceful getaway. In the heart of this charming region is Mineral Point, a town steeped in history and known for its vibrant arts community. The Travelers Inn is a lodging option that offers a straightforward and budget-friendly place to stay while you explore this special corner of Wisconsin. This article is crafted from a local's perspective to give you a clear, factual, and informative overview of The Travelers Inn. We'll cover its location, services, and the ongoing efforts to improve the guest experience, helping you decide if this is the right home base for your next local adventure.
The Travelers Inn is a no-frills, traditional hotel that is currently undergoing a significant transformation. New management has taken over with a clear goal of creating a more family-friendly and welcoming environment. This includes weeding out negative elements and actively working on remodeling rooms with new features like hardwood flooring. This commitment to improvement is a key aspect of the hotel's current identity. It's a place that is evolving, with a focus on providing cleaner, more comfortable rooms for all guests. Unlike some of the larger, more expensive hotels or quaint bed-and-breakfasts in the area, The Travelers Inn offers a more basic and practical option. This can be especially appealing for budget-conscious travelers or those who simply need a comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring.
A notable feature of The Travelers Inn is its pet-friendly policy. This is a huge plus for locals who love to travel with their dogs and want to include them in their vacation. The management has made it clear that pets are welcome on the property. While the hotel is in a state of transition, with remodels in progress, the dedication of the new management to enhancing the guest experience is a strong point. The hotel aims to offer clean rooms with new bedding for all guests, and while some traditional hotel amenities like in-room phones may not be present, the staff is attentive and checks on guests to ensure their needs are met. The use of real keys instead of key cards is another small but unique feature that adds to the hotel's rustic and classic charm.
The Travelers Inn is located at 625 Dodge St, Mineral Point, WI 53565, USA. This location places it on the edge of the historic downtown area of Mineral Point. While not directly in the heart of the most bustling part of town, it is a short and convenient drive to the main streets where you'll find the famous galleries, shops, and restaurants. For locals, this location offers a great balance: it provides a quieter environment for a good night's sleep while still being close to all the action.
Accessibility to and from the hotel is straightforward, as Mineral Point is easily reached by car from major Wisconsin cities. The hotel provides free self-parking on-site, which is a great convenience. While walking to downtown is possible, it's a bit of a distance, so having a car is highly recommended for exploring the town and the surrounding Driftless Area. The hotel's location makes it a great base for day trips to other nearby attractions like Pendarvis Historic Site, Governor Dodge State Park, or House on the Rock. Its proximity to these key sites makes it a strategic choice for a multi-day trip focused on exploration. The new management has a goal to create a more family-friendly environment, and the location, which is a bit removed from the main bar and restaurant scene, is a positive factor in achieving this.

Oct 03, 2024 · Kristen TroxelRoom was beautiful, could tell it had just been remodeled. They were still mid remodel during my stay. We had adjoining rooms, and they were pretty much sound proof from one to the other. The front desk clerk didn't speak much English, which is usually a reason I will turn away but he tried but it wasn't problematic at all. One thing I found odd was that we didn't have phones in the rooms, but the clerk did come around and check on us once or twice. We also had real keys, not cards, just not something you see much anymore.
May 12, 2022 · Lizz MuellerPaid $120 for one night. Normally that would be acceptable for most hotels but not for a hotel like this. No hot water, wasn’t able to take a shower, fruity pebbles and rice found in the dresser. So kept our clothes in our bags. Stains on the furniture and walls. I will say the bedding was the best part as that was clean and nice roll in bed for kids. Just disappointed I paid that much for a room that should have been less than $80. Also, wheelchair ramp is broken off the building. Their sign and website states wheelchair accessible. It is not safe for anyone to use. Could have a decent place if they really took the time to clean it up.
May 26, 2019 · Cindy BorthsMineral Point was so nice until he opened his doors. I Lived next to this place for over two years and had never had issues with neighbors until he opened this business. The “tenants” would pan handle at neighboring businesses and apartments to thepoint where customer’s complained. People would knock on doors and windows. Police were always there! Owner was told numerous times to not let his dog or the “tenants” dogs use the apartments yard to go to the bathroom. This place and owner is super shady!!
Aug 05, 2018 · Ryan WalshWhile the room was basic and clean, the lack of amenities for the price you pay makes it a pass for me next time. It might be the Covid-19 virus, but the office clerk was never at the desk, the front entrance had a car parked there the entire stay and the shower had barely enough hot water for one person. The clerk gave me the wrong password for the wifi (the first time). When I called back, he gave me a different code. It didn't work and he ignored the third and fourth calls. No handicap access at the front (unless you squeeze around the car and climb the couple of steps. The doors are heavy and hard to unlock with the key. Honestly, you can do better than this place.
