I stayed last week for work. I had my service dog with me. Most places I’ve stayed at, you let them know you have a service dog and there are no problems. I thought I wrote my service dog would be with me when I reserved the room online. Later, I was bringing my dog back inside after a walk and the lady at the front desk was driving in the parking lot and stopped me. Very rudely said I never told them I had a dog and I need to pay $200 and sign the pet policy. I told her this is not a pet this is my service dog. She told me I would need to provide paperwork and pay at least $50. I was confused because I’d never been asked this for my service dog and didn’t think it was allowed. I went up to my room and an hour goes by and I get a call from the front desk saying the lady (that I spoke with outside) has a problem with me because I have a pet in the room and I’ve not signed the policy. I said I’d be down soon. I went down and signed the policy and wrote it was a service animal. I asked the lady why I had to pay when I had a service dog and she said it’s policy. The next afternoon I received a call from the front desk (same lady I spoke with outside) who asked if I was going to provide paperwork for my pet. I replied that I signed the policy and payed what she asked me to pay. She said if I don’t provide proof that he’s a service dog I would be charged the full $200 pet fee. I told her legally they can’t ask me to provide proof or give them paperwork. I said at this point you’ve been harassing me and I asked if I needed to pack up and find a different hotel. She told me she would talk to her manager. She called back later and asked the only questions she’s legally allowed to ask about my service dog and hung up. Upon leaving my stay, I spoke to the same lady at the front desk who was extremely rude in every interaction I had with her including this one. I asked if I could please have a refund of my $50 I paid since according to their own policy a service dog is not a pet and I should not have been made to pay a pet fee. She says it’s non refundable and I never told them I had a dog to begin with. I asked if I was being charged $50 for not telling them I had my service dog? Because I was charged a pet fee and I don’t have a pet. She rudely said it’s nonrefundable. When I pressed further she said the manager had to give refunds and he’s not here. I asked if I could please have his number so I could contact him. She said we don’t give out phone numbers and I’ll have to call back later. I was discriminated against for having a need for a service dog and I do not take this lightly.

One glowing review exclaimed, "This place was a pleasant surprise I wish I came here first. Girls at front desk are super helpful and friendly, housekeeping is doing amazing work this place looks and smells like a brand new. I could live here for year easily I felt home. Rooms are super spacious, modern, I came for a week and decided to extended for 2 more weeks. God bless." This highlights the spaciousness, modern feel, cleanliness, and the positive impact of the staff. However, it's important for potential guests to be aware of a significant concern raised by another reviewer regarding interactions concerning a service animal. This guest reported "rude" and "harassing" interactions with a front desk staff member regarding their service dog, including demands for paperwork and fees which are generally not permitted under ADA guidelines for service animals. This experience led to a feeling of discrimination. While the overall positive sentiment for the physical aspects of the hotel and the general helpfulness of "girls at the front desk" is encouraging, guests traveling with service animals should be prepared to assert their rights under ADA regulations if similar issues arise.
