The place looks like the pictures. The beds are very uncomfortable. Our backs are very sore. The handle falls off on the bathroom sink faucet. The kitchen faucet is hard to shut off. It is pet friendly which is great for us. However when I was sitting on the couch I kept smelling pee. I can see that an animal has peed on the side of the sofa. I understand it happens but that should be cleaned up. The place is very clean other than the Jacuzzi tub upstairs was super slippery.

Woodshed Introduce

For those of us here in Tennessee, the call of the Great Smoky Mountains is often irresistible. Whether it’s for a family vacation, a reunion with friends, or simply a desire to reconnect with nature, finding the perfect cabin that feels like a home away from home is key. In the heart of Gatlinburg, you'll find "Woodshed," a charming 2-bedroom cabin that promises a mountain escape with stunning views and a host of amenities designed for a memorable stay.

Woodshed is more than just a place to sleep; it's a private retreat that allows you to immerse yourselves in the serene beauty of the Smokies. As Tennesseans, we appreciate comfort, convenience, and the ability to bring our furry family members along for the adventure. This cabin aims to deliver on these fronts, offering a unique blend of relaxation and on-site entertainment.

While some past guests have pointed out areas for potential updates and maintenance, the overall picture of Woodshed remains appealing for its core features and location. This article is tailored for you, our Tennessee neighbors, to give you a clear, factual, and engaging overview of what to expect from Woodshed, helping you decide if it's the right fit for your next mountain getaway.

Location and Accessibility

Woodshed is located at 417 Lucerne Way, Gatlinburg, TN 37738, USA. This address places it within a very desirable area of Gatlinburg, often described as part of a private cabin community like Cobbly Nob. Its location is a significant highlight, consistently praised by guests for offering "beautiful scenery out the back" and a sense of peaceful seclusion. For Tennesseans looking to escape the hustle and bustle, this provides a perfect balance: a quiet mountain retreat that is still conveniently accessible to the attractions of Gatlinburg and the natural wonders of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The cabin offers easy access to the main attractions, being approximately 13.7 miles (about a 26-minute drive) from popular spots like Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and Anakeesta. Downtown Gatlinburg, with its array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, is also easily within reach. For golf enthusiasts, Bent Creek Golf Club is a mere 1.1 miles (1.8 km) or about a 15-minute walk away. Furthermore, it's a reasonable drive (around 40 minutes) to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, making it a good base for exploring the wider region.

Accessibility to the cabin typically involves paved roads, which is a plus. However, as is common with mountain cabins, guests should be mindful of weather conditions, especially between November and March. Some properties in the area may require 4-wheel drive or tire chains during snowy or icy conditions, so it's always wise for locals to check weather forecasts and road conditions before heading out, particularly when navigating mountain roads. The presence of ample parking for up to four vehicles is also a practical benefit for groups traveling with multiple cars.

Common promotions that apply to cabins in the Gatlinburg area, and potentially to Woodshed, include:

  • Off-Peak Season Rates: Traveling during the quieter seasons (e.g., weekdays outside of summer, fall foliage, or major holidays) can often lead to significantly lower prices.

Conclusion: Why Woodshed is Suitable for Locals

For Tennessee residents seeking a classic Smoky Mountain cabin experience with practical amenities, Woodshed in Gatlinburg offers a compelling option. Its suitability for locals stems from several key aspects. Firstly, the "really nice location" provides that desired balance of seclusion and accessibility. You get to enjoy the "beautiful scenery" and quiet privacy of a mountain retreat, yet you're still within a reasonable drive of Gatlinburg's bustling attractions and the serene hiking trails of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This convenience for day trips is a major plus for those familiar with navigating our state's popular tourist areas.

Secondly, Woodshed's pet-friendly policy is a significant draw for many Tennessee families. Being able to bring your beloved dog along for the vacation removes a major planning hurdle and allows for truly inclusive family fun in the mountains. The ample parking is another practical benefit, especially when traveling with multiple vehicles.

While some older elements and maintenance needs have been noted by past guests (like uncomfortable beds or faucet issues), the core appeal of the cabin remains strong: a private hot tub for relaxation, a game room for entertainment, and a fully equipped kitchen for cost-saving meal preparation. These features contribute to a well-rounded and enjoyable stay, allowing your group to create lasting memories indoors and out. For Tennesseans looking for a comfortable, pet-friendly cabin with mountain views and a good location, Woodshed offers a solid choice for a memorable getaway in the heart of the Smokies.

I give it 4 stars for the location. This cabin is in a really nice location with beautiful scenery out the back. But it could use some updates. The fridge is old, and the door doesn't seal. The dishwasher is loose, so we didn't use it. We washed everything by hand . The light over the sink is old and makes loud human noise. They shut the water off without notification for over 2 hours? It came back on rusty. And cloudy, not good to drink. They could have let us know that they were going to shut the water off for construction. The drain was plugged up in the main bathroom tub.the bed on the main floor sucks. We brought a 2" foam cushion to put on it. And that helps a lot. They just need to upgrade on a lot of stuff. All in all the the rest of the inside of the cabin is really nice.

The most beautiful view I have ever seen. The cabin was clean and just gorgeous inside.

Kitchen lights tricky to get turned on, Floors dirty, cob webs, main bathroom toilet would not flush correctly unless you reach down & behind the tank to turn the valve off & then on again. That same bathroom, the sink knob comes off in your hand and unable to turn it to hot water. Venetian blinds on side door looked like a dog got mad and tore into them! Now, for upstairs... windows without coverings. The bathroom had a glass door leading out onto a small balcony....No blinds. Jacuzzi windows, no blinds. When you stepped out of the shower, you were standing....surrounded by by full length Windows with no coverings! We reserved for 2 weeks....left after a few days. No refund offered.
