I'm disappointed by their policy. I had a room booked for two nights for my son's baseball tournament. For this reservation, I paid a $50 deposit, which I understood was non-refundable if the room was cancelled less than 5 days prior to the stay. Unfortunately, I received word from the team coach that the weekend tournament was cancelled, so I called the hotel and cancelled my reservation, losing the 50 bucks. I have no problem with that, as it is the policy stated on their website. However, I was informed later that same day that they were able to shuffle some teams and restructure the tournament, allowing it to go on, so I contacted Alpine Valley Resort and asked if they could reinstate my reservation using the $50 deposit I had already paid. The manager said she was unable to do this and that the $50 was just lost. Like, c'mon, really? I can see they still have multiple room types available on their site and it's not like my cancellation cost them any money. Guess they'd rather keep the $50 than have an actual two-night paying customer, because I refuse to book a room again there after that.
For those of us living in Wisconsin, finding a nearby destination that offers a true escape for every season can be a challenge. Alpine Valley Resort, located in Elkhorn, is a standout solution. More than just a hotel, it's a comprehensive resort that has been a part of the local landscape for decades, known for both its winter ski slopes and its summer golf courses. It’s a place that caters to outdoor enthusiasts and families alike, providing a convenient and exciting getaway without the need for a long, stressful trip. The resort's appeal lies in its "vintage charm" and its ability to offer a variety of activities right at your doorstep, creating a unique experience that feels both familiar and special.
Alpine Valley Resort has a rich history in the region, having been a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding since it first opened its doors in 1964. Its identity is deeply tied to the rolling hills of the Kettle Moraine area, providing some of the most diverse terrain in the Midwest. Beyond the winter season, the resort transforms into a summer haven with a sprawling 27-hole golf course, making it a true four-season destination. This dual-season functionality is a huge draw for locals, as it means the resort is a relevant and exciting option for a getaway any time of the year. This article will explore the features and services that make Alpine Valley a premier choice for Wisconsin residents, from its "ski-in - ski-out" rooms to its on-site dining and recreational offerings.
While the resort is known for its recreational offerings, its hotel provides a comfortable and convenient base for all activities. One customer review highlighted the value of a "ski in - ski out room," underscoring the hotel's seamless integration with the ski hill. Another review, while negative about a specific policy, points to the resort’s clear and stated rules, indicating a professional, albeit strict, approach to business. Overall, the resort is known for its simple, rustic charm and its focus on providing a fun and active experience. It’s a place where you can stay and play, creating a hassle-free vacation that is perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends.
Alpine Valley Resort - Hotel is located at W2501 Co Rd D, Elkhorn, WI 53121, USA. Its location is a significant advantage for Wisconsin locals, nestled in the picturesque Kettle Moraine area of southeastern Wisconsin. This makes for a straightforward drive from major cities like Milwaukee and Madison, and it is also easily accessible for residents of northern Illinois. The resort's setting is beautiful, surrounded by rolling hills and mature trees, which creates a feeling of being in a more remote, mountainous region despite being just a short drive from home. The resort’s position at the base of the ski hill is a major benefit, as it allows for direct access to all the winter activities.
The resort's accessibility is further enhanced by its proximity to the Alpine Valley Music Theatre, a well-known concert venue, although the two are now separate entities. This means that the area is a cultural hub as well as a recreational one, offering a full range of entertainment options. While a customer's review about the non-refundable deposit policy highlights a need to be aware of the rules, the location and its associated conveniences for a weekend tournament or a planned getaway remain a strong point. For those seeking an easy-to-reach destination that offers a mountain-like experience without the need for a long flight, Alpine Valley's location is unbeatable.

Jun 26, 2025 · Matt FisherRenting a ski in - ski out room was definitely worth it! The view was great. Definitely a more simple lay out but we loved the vintage charm. Great restaurant and lounge too.
