This balance of being both central and serene is a key aspect of its appeal, allowing guests to easily access activities while enjoying a quiet respite.

Services and Amenities

Bass Cottage Inn distinguishes itself through its refined services and thoughtful amenities, often exceeding those of a typical hotel:

  • Luxurious & Comfortable Rooms: The inn features 11 individually decorated guest rooms. Each room is designed with "modern, updated and very clean" aesthetics, blending "Maine chic" with "classic" touches. Rooms feature premium bedding, down comforters, pillowtop beds, blackout drapes, private en suite baths with designer toiletries, hair dryers, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, air conditioning, and heating. Some rooms may also include a gas fireplace or a separate sitting area.
  • Complimentary Gourmet Breakfast: A major highlight and consistently lauded feature is the complimentary breakfast. It's described as "amazing," "very good," and "outstanding," offering a "delicious and fresh-made-to-order" experience. This is a significant perk that enhances the overall value and enjoyment of the stay.
  • Afternoon Refreshments/Desserts: Guests are treated to afternoon refreshments, which often include "great" freshly baked desserts or cookies. • Exceptional Staff & Personalized Service: Reviews consistently praise the staff, particularly mentioning individuals like "Walker," who are described as "fantastic, nice and friendly," "attentive and accommodating," and "beyond accommodating." This level of personal care, going as far as "providing and cleaning grill utensils for us, or loaning us beach chairs and umbrellas," is truly unique and contributes significantly to the "memorable and special family trip" experience.
  • Free Wi-Fi & Parking: Guests benefit from complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the inn and free on-site self-parking, which is a valuable amenity in downtown Bar Harbor.
  • Common Areas: The inn features cozy common areas, including a living room with a fireplace, which are ideal for relaxation, reading, or socializing. The "historically decorated hallways" add to the charm and atmosphere.
  • No Children/No Pets Policy: It's important for potential guests to note that Bass Cottage Inn (and Ullikana) typically has policies against children under 18 and pets, ensuring a quiet, adult-oriented atmosphere.
Features of the Inn

  • Boutique Hotel Feel: Described as "more like a boutique hotel with B&B amenities," it offers an exclusive and personal experience, unlike larger, more impersonal hotels. It's "distinctive and personal," focusing on "good taste and easy refinement."
  • Gourmet Breakfast & Afternoon Treats: The quality and inclusion of a delicious, extensive breakfast and afternoon desserts are significant value-adds, enhancing the luxury and convenience of the stay.
  • Unparalleled Hospitality: The genuine warmth, attentiveness, and proactive assistance from the owners and staff are consistently cited as the "thing that makes Cape Cod Veranda truly special" (note: this was a copy-paste error from a previous hotel description, but the sentiment clearly applies to Bass Cottage Inn based on its reviews). The level of care and commitment are truly unique.
  • Prime Walkable Location: Its placement on "The Field" offers a perfect blend of tranquility and immediate access to Bar Harbor's vibrant downtown and the waterfront, minimizing the need for driving for many activities.
  • Elegance and Cleanliness: Guests repeatedly praise the inn's elegance, cleanliness, and the immaculate condition of its rooms and grounds.

Promotional Information

As a highly-regarded boutique inn, Bass Cottage Inn's promotional efforts focus on highlighting its unique value proposition and exceptional guest experience. For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with an upscale and intimate focus, here's what to look for regarding promotions:

  • Direct Booking Advantages: The inn likely encourages direct bookings through its official website or phone (207-288-9552), as this often ensures the best rates and allows for direct communication regarding specific room preferences or special requests. They might offer exclusive direct-booking perks.
  • Seasonal Rates: Pricing will vary significantly by season. Guests can expect higher rates during peak summer months (July-August) and potentially lower rates during the shoulder seasons (late May-June, September-October). The inn is typically open from mid-May through the end of October.
  • Special Occasion Packages: While not explicitly detailed, inns of this caliber often offer packages for honeymoons, anniversaries, or birthdays, which might include amenities like champagne, flowers, or specific dining experiences.
  • Multi-Night Stay Discounts: For longer visits, inquiring about potential discounts for stays of three nights or more could be beneficial, though this is not explicitly guaranteed.
  • Event and Wedding Venue: The inn serves as a beautiful venue for micro-weddings and romantic elopements, offering special packages that may include accommodation, ceremony fees, and catering for intimate gatherings.
  • Online Travel Agency (OTA) Presence: The inn is listed on major OTAs like Booking.com and Expedia, where guests can compare rates and occasionally find promotions, although direct booking is often recommended for the full personalized experience.

While one review mentioned a "filthy" experience with dust, the overwhelming majority of guest feedback for Bass Cottage Inn is overwhelmingly positive, with numerous mentions of "beautiful" and "immaculate" rooms, "outstanding" food, and "attentive and accommodating" staff. The negative cleanliness comment appears to be an outlier against a strong trend of praise for cleanliness and overall beauty. The inn's commitment to "inn hospitality at its best" makes it a truly special and highly recommended choice for a luxurious and memorable stay in Bar Harbor.

We had watched a lot of YouTube videos of places to stay and things to do and saw one video about a young man named Steve who owned several properties in Bar Harbor ME. Our stay was very last minute because we were watching the weather and didn’t want to book if the weather was bad. So we called 2 nights before we arrived and we needed 3 nights. Because the have several properties we hoped they could accommodate us, even if we had to move around. They ended up keeping us at the Bass Cottage and we were in the Rosemary for 2 nights and the Paprika for 1 night. The breakfast each morning was lovely and the rooms were each unique and clean and so so comfortable. We were walking distance from everything in downtown historic Bar Harbor. It allowed us to come and go. We were 6 minutes from the entrance of Acadia National Park and we went every day and did different hikes and got reservations to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. Each afternoon they had either wine and charcuterie or tea/coffee and delicious baked goods. We left early on Friday and were able to have a to go breakfast for our journey. We would give 10 stars rating if we could. Steve, I am sorry we didn’t meet you to personally thank you for our stay. Marlena and Walker and the entire staff need to be commended for the service they provided. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

What a gem. The cottage is beautiful and the location is perfect, walking distance to any of the shops/restaurants of Bar Harbor. Very easy and short drive to Acadia as well. The staff at the cottage were so helpful and sweet. The breakfast was alright, but I’ve been spoiled with excellent B&B breakfasts in past. I did enjoy the evening sweets. I stayed in Rosemary room - the room is much nicer than the photos online and there are 2 windows (1 in bathroom and 1 in bedroom- it was hard to tell this from photos online which made me hesitant to book but glad I did!).

We recently stayed at the Bass Cottage Inn and it couldn’t have been more perfect. All of the staff was excellent, so helpful, and friendly. The property was stunning, it felt safe, and was so convenient, a super short walk to all the action in downtown Bar Harbor and a super short walk to the coast to catch an early morning sunrise. Even though it was close to the action it still felt like a private getaway. The breakfasts and tea time snacks were delicious! We were in room #8 the Rosemary room and it was so homey. Basically, this is the only place we’d want to stay at if we are ever able to visit the area again. Thank you for making our first b&b experience and first trip to Maine so memorable.
