We stayed at the Cambria, West Orange, NJ 3 times over a 3 week period while visiting with family. The staff was always very friendly, especially Althea, who greeted us over many evenings. She bent over backwards to help with my many requests and was able to help us each time. Our rooms were always clean. The cleaning staff was friendly and smiling. It was great having a mini-fridge in the room. The location was great-walking distance to the grocery store and Starbucks. We were not here to visit NYC, but the location for getting on and off the highway couldn’t have been easier for us.

The hotel’s official website and other booking platforms would be the best sources for current, specific promotional deals and packages. The general promotional message centers on providing a comfortable, modern, and convenient stay with value-added benefits through the Choice Hotels network.

However, an objective introduction necessitates a critical examination of customer reviews, which present a mixed perspective on the Cambria Hotel West Orange. While a positive review highlights consistently "friendly staff," particularly an individual named Althea, "clean rooms," "friendly and smiling cleaning staff," and the convenience of a mini-fridge and location, significant negative feedback also exists.

A particularly concerning review details multiple severe issues. The guest reported being assigned an "uncleaned" room with "trash still in the bins" and an unmade bed upon check-in. Although the front desk agent (Althea) attempted to compensate with a breakfast voucher and an "upgrade," the upgraded room had a "microwave sparking and nearly caused a fire," posing a serious safety hazard. Furthermore, the breakfast service was described as severely lacking, with no food prepared at the advertised start time, a long wait of "over an hour," and "very rude waitresses" who provided no updates. Another major complaint was the "nonexistent" housekeeping service for a four-day stay, with guests having to "take our own trash out" and being told to come downstairs to pick up basic essentials like towels and toilet paper. This review strongly suggests a need for "restructuring and retraining" of staff and criticizes the hotel as an "Ass. Mess." Other aggregate reviews show average cleanliness ratings around 8.0-9.0 but service ratings as low as 1.5, further highlighting inconsistencies.

In conclusion, the Cambria Hotel West Orange positions itself as an upscale and modern hotel with desirable features and a convenient location. Its affiliation with Choice Hotels offers brand recognition and loyalty program benefits. However, potential guests using "Hotels Near Of Me" should be aware of the significant disparities in guest experiences, particularly concerning cleanliness, breakfast service, and housekeeping, as detailed in recent reviews. While some guests have positive interactions with the staff and find the rooms clean and comfortable, others have faced fundamental issues that severely impact their stay. Therefore, it is advisable for prospective visitors to consider these varying experiences when planning their stay at the Cambria Hotel West Orange.

I arrived at the hotel around 7 p.m. to check in. While standing at the counter, I overheard two other guests making complaints, but I didn’t think much of it. After getting my room keys and heading upstairs, I was shocked to find that the room I was given hadn’t been cleaned at all. Trash was still in the bins, the bed wasn’t made, and it was clear someone else had just checked out. I brought my luggage back downstairs to the front desk to get a new room. Unfortunately, we then had to wait while the staff searched for an available room and prepared new keys, which was frustrating after a long day of travel. The front desk agent, Althea, did try to make up for the inconvenience by giving us a breakfast voucher and upgrading our room. While I appreciated the gesture, the "upgrade" didn’t amount to much—especially when we discovered the microwave in the new room was sparking and nearly caused a fire. That could’ve been a serious safety hazard. The next morning, we went down for breakfast at 9 a.m., expecting it to be ready since it was advertised to start at 6:30 a.m. But there was no breakfast set up. When we asked about it, two very rude waitresses told us we’d have to wait. And wait we did—for over an hour. No one gave us any updates, and when the food was finally ready, they didn’t even let us know—we had to go ask again. Another huge issue: if you need towels or toilet paper, bring your own. Every time we called the front desk to request basic essentials, we were told to come down and get them ourselves. Housekeeping was nonexistent. We stayed for four days, and not once did anyone clean our room, remove trash, or offer fresh towels or linens. We had to take our own trash out! This hotel needs to shut down for a few months and seriously restructure and retrain its staff. Coming from a hospitality background myself, I have never seen anything like this. Heads would roll if we had guests checking into dirty rooms where I worked. This was not my first time at a Cambria, but it is absolutely my last. I will not return, and I will not recommend this place to anyone. Hot. Ass. Mess.

Great hotel - amazing facilities located by lots of shops. Staff could definitely be a lot more friendlier and approachable. Second stay here and experienced folks that seemed annoyed. We got late check out (12pm ) and then we were called at 1140am. Staff said “did you not know 11am is check out” very rude. I explained we were given late check out and we were told it wasn’t noted. I don’t mind the phone call but the tone and delivery was horrible. I would have appreciated a “good morning just wanted to know if you guys are staying later etc etc.”customer service can be alot better.

We want to thank so very much, 2 very special and excellent employees, Victoria L. & Althea J. at Cambria Hotel in West Orange, NJ.  Our Family had to travel quickly and find a place to stay.  Victoria was our 1st contact and immediately, she was professional, accommodating, and showed sincere compassion to our situation.  Next we met Althea J. who showed kindness and sincerity.  The caring they both showed was amazing.  They treated us like family and went above and beyond for us. During a difficult time, they were a light to us. The stay was extremely comfortable, the Hotel is clean, food was delicious and great service.  We look forward to our next stay.  Thank you to all the staff at Cambria in West Orange. Thank you- Jean, Tom, Jillian, Michael

Most of the people working here were quite rude. We asked for a couple of things (mainly conditioner that was missing in the room and a couple of flat sheets). They weren’t able to help. I called the front desk and the receptionist was very rude. She told me to speak to housekeeping. No one answered. I called back the front and they put me on hold forever. When we asked for a bottle of water she said “well those were for someone else but ok”. Not good customer service.
