Cherry Ridge Cabins Leeper Pa Introduce

For those seeking a tranquil escape into nature under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, Cherry Ridge Cabins in Leeper, PA, offers a distinctive rustic experience. Located at 300 Jacks Ln, Leeper, PA 16233, USA, and reachable by phone at (814) 226-0632, Cherry Ridge Cabins provide a secluded getaway in the heart of Pennsylvania's picturesque forestland. This establishment is primarily geared towards guests looking for a traditional cabin stay, with a focus on simplicity and immersion in the natural surroundings.

Environment: A Secluded Forest Retreat

The defining characteristic of Cherry Ridge Cabins is its deeply integrated natural environment. The property spans approximately 80 acres, bordering state game lands, which contributes to a sense of privacy and seclusion. Guests are immediately enveloped by the sounds and sights of the forest, offering a genuine escape from urban noise and stresses. This environment is particularly appealing to those who frequent the area for outdoor activities or simply to unwind and reconnect with nature.

The cabins are nestled within this wooded landscape, creating a sense of rustic charm. The location is strategically placed for outdoor enthusiasts, being within a half-mile hike of the Clarion River and just four miles from the heart of Cook Forest State Park. This proximity to significant natural landmarks means guests have direct access to abundant hiking trails, fishing opportunities, and general outdoor recreation. The property itself includes a stocked fishing pond, providing a convenient activity for families or individuals looking for a quiet pastime. The overall atmosphere is one of simplicity and a deep connection to the wilderness, ideal for those who value an unpretentious, nature-focused vacation.

While the setting emphasizes rustic charm, it's important to set expectations regarding the comfort level. As some reviews indicate, the furniture might be older, contributing to the rustic feel but potentially impacting modern comfort preferences. For example, some guests have noted that furniture, reportedly from the 1970s, might be worn. However, for guests who prioritize the natural environment and a traditional cabin experience over luxurious amenities, the secluded forest setting is a significant draw, providing a genuine sense of escape and tranquility.

Services: Essential Comforts for a Forest Stay

Cherry Ridge Cabins provides essential services and amenities to ensure a comfortable stay in a rustic setting. The cabins vary in size, from smaller two-bedroom cottages to a larger authentic circa 1930 Loggers Lodge with five bedrooms, designed to accommodate different group sizes, from couples to large family reunions. A key service offered across all cabins is a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and have private facilities. Each cabin also features either a wood burner or a fireplace, providing warmth and a cozy ambiance, especially during cooler months. A starter supply of firewood is provided, with additional firewood available for purchase on-site.

It's important to note some specifics regarding the services and amenities, as gleaned from guest reviews and available information. While the cabins offer basic necessities, guests are typically advised to bring their own towels, washcloths, sheets, and pillowcases, as well as replacement paper towels and garbage bags. The beds are generally full-sized (double) and some guests have found the mattresses and pillows to be uncomfortable, describing them as "extremely flat, thin, and hard," suggesting that guests might consider bringing extra comfort items if this is a concern. Unlike many modern hotels, the cabins are not equipped with phones or televisions, reinforcing the "unplugged" nature of the retreat. There is no mention of Wi-Fi being a standard amenity. One review specifically states that air conditioning in Cabin 4 incurred an extra $50 fee and was centrally controlled at a fixed temperature of 74 degrees, which may not be sufficient for all guests' comfort preferences. Other issues reported by guests include broken plastic bowls and an ice maker being shut off. Some cabins also might have holes in the walls or signs of pests, as noted in some negative reviews, so guests should manage their expectations regarding the level of maintenance and cleanliness comparable to a traditional hotel.

Cherry Ridge Cabins is pet-friendly, allowing house-trained pets, though pet owners are responsible for their pets' actions, and pets are not allowed on furniture and must be crated when unattended. This service makes it an attractive option for those who wish to bring their furry companions along on their outdoor adventures. The property also offers a check-in time of 3:00 PM and a strict check-out time of 11:00 AM. Fire rings are available at each cabin, providing a classic camping experience.

Features: Authentic Cabin Living and Outdoor Access

The primary features of Cherry Ridge Cabins revolve around its authentic cabin living experience and direct access to outdoor recreational activities. The cabins themselves, ranging from rustic two-bedroom cottages to the larger five-bedroom Loggers Lodge, each offer a unique character. Many feature wood floors and a charming, traditional aesthetic that complements the natural surroundings. For example, Cabin #2 is described as a rustic, two-story, two-bedroom cabin with wood floors but offering "all modern amenities" within its rustic context. Cabin #4, remodeled in 2016, features a live-edge island in the kitchen and a brick fireplace. The Loggers Lodge, built in 1928, boasts a full-length covered porch, a large living room with a stone fireplace, and can accommodate up to 18 people when combined with Cabin #7.

The 80-acre property provides guests with numerous on-site opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. There are numerous trails within the property and the adjacent 1000+ acres of state game lands, perfect for hiking and exploring. The stocked fishing pond is a highlight for many, providing hours of entertainment, especially for children. The close proximity to the Clarion River offers opportunities for additional water-based activities like kayaking or more extensive fishing. Cook Forest State Park, known for its old-growth forest, is only four miles away, providing further avenues for outdoor adventure.

Guests often highlight the long-standing family connection with the establishment, with some visitors returning for decades, underscoring a sense of tradition and familiarity. This speaks to the consistent appeal of the "unwind" factor that Cherry Ridge Cabins provides. While the cabins may not boast the latest in luxury amenities, their core feature is the chance to disconnect and enjoy the simplicity of nature. The ambiance is less about modern sleekness and more about a timeless, tranquil escape. Some cabins also offer handicap accessibility features, such as larger doors to accommodate wheelchairs.

Promotional Information: A Haven for Relaxation and Outdoor Adventure

Cherry Ridge Cabins promotes itself as a private and secluded getaway, ideal for those seeking respite in the heart of the forest. The emphasis is on providing an affordable and intimate experience within a natural setting. The proprietors, Michael & Vesta Matis, manage the reservations, with contact information available via phone at (814) 226-0632 or through their website, which also includes a contact form for inquiries. They accept cash, money order, or check only for payments, and a minimum $50 deposit is required within 7 days to hold a reservation, with the balance due upon arrival. For holiday reservations, a three-day minimum stay is required. Cancellation policies allow for a deposit refund, less a re-booking fee, if the cabin can be re-rented.

The promotional message highlights the abundance of outdoor activities available both on the property and in the surrounding area, including hiking on the numerous trails that abound their eighty acres, exploring the state game lands, and fishing in their stocked pond. The close proximity to the Clarion River and Cook Forest State Park is a significant draw, indicating that the cabins serve as an excellent base for exploring the wider Pennsylvania Wilds region. Guests are encouraged to bring handy items like lawn chairs to further enhance their outdoor enjoyment. The cabins are marketed as suitable for various occasions, from family vacations and hunting/fishing trips to relaxing weekend getaways.

While specific seasonal discounts or loyalty programs are not widely advertised, the long-term relationships with returning guests, as evidenced by reviews spanning "many decades," suggest a strong customer base built on positive experiences over time. This indicates a consistent appeal for those who value the specific type of rustic, nature-centric vacation that Cherry Ridge Cabins provides. Potential guests are always advised to contact the cabins directly via phone or their website to inquire about current availability, rates, and any specific policies. The commitment to a no-ATV policy and no camping or RV hook-ups on the property further reinforces the focus on a peaceful and natural environment for all guests, ensuring a quiet retreat for all visitors.

We stayed in cabin 4 and had to pay $50 extra upon requesting to have the air conditioning turned on. Then it was set for 74 degrees with a locked cover over the thermostat. Set at 74 degrees barely helped at all cooling the cabin. I keep my house at 66 degrees. I asked the worker repeatedly to name the price to lower the temperature and he wouldn’t budge. $50 was already a lot of money to pay for the AC and I should have been able to set the temperature myself. The beds were horribly uncomfortable - all of them. the pillows were extremely flat, thin, and hard and about as uncomfortable as using a folded up pair of jeans as a pillow. We were all sore both mornings from the horrible beds and none of us slept well. The furniture was from the 1970’s and ripped up. The ice maker was shutoff, plastic bowls were broken and cracked.

Just plain bad All the beds were unclean and uncomfortable. I found mouse poop on one of the beds and all of the beds had tons of dead bugs all over them and none of the beds have any sheets on them just a blanket and bear mattress. The pillows are covered in plastic and unusable, the pictures online are deceiving an incorrect , There was holes in the walls And somehow two bats got in while we were trying to sleep and we had to get them outside at 2am I personally would recommend spending the extra money and staying at the Mcbeths cabins on the river (Cabin 2)

We stayed in Cabin 6 . 5 out of 6 mattresses were stained with what looked like urine. The owners thought that fabric mattress covers were sufficient to use the beds!!!! It took us a day to clear the musty smell by using fabreeze and air fresheners. The carpets were filthy as well as the furniture. We had to buy duct tape to keep the screen on the door. Being aware of COVID hazards, we colorized all surfaces and found hair in the tubs from previous guests! The owners response to our concerns was” I’ll refund your money and you are welcome to leave.” Terrible customer service!

My family has been going here for about 30 years. I love it, and I love making a fire at night.
