Perfectly adequate hotel for the price. Indoor pool was nice, but completely overrun by children during most of the day. No hot tub. Early morning or late evening best time for splash free adult swim. Rooms were clean, AC worked well. Parking was abundant. Hotel "bistro" very expensive (not surprising), but food was fine and at times worth the price for convenience. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay there again if in the area, just nothing to write home about.
For those of us living in the Chicagoland area, especially on the North Shore, finding a reliable and convenient hotel for visiting family, business trips, or a local staycation is a common task. The Courtyard Chicago Highland Park/Northbrook fits this description, offering a practical and well-located option for a variety of travelers. It’s a hotel that aims to provide a solid, no-frills stay, focusing on the core elements that make a hotel trip successful: a clean room, a comfortable bed, and helpful staff.
The hotel is often described as "perfectly adequate for the price," which for many of us, is exactly what we are looking for. It's a place where you know what you're getting: a clean environment and functional amenities. While it may not be a "destination" hotel with extensive luxury features, its reliability and focus on the essentials make it a trustworthy option. This level of service, combined with the hotel's commitment to cleanliness, is a significant plus. Guests who have stayed here often mention that they would return if they were in the area, which speaks volumes about its consistent performance and value.
However, it's also important to note that, like any hotel, experiences can vary. While the hotel aims for a seamless experience, some guests have encountered issues, from significant billing errors to shared pool spaces that might not suit everyone. These are important considerations for potential guests, and it's always a good idea to check your billing and be aware that public spaces like the pool might have a mix of users. Despite these potential drawbacks, the consistent positive feedback on cleanliness and the overall service quality provides a balanced view of the hotel’s offerings. For locals, this means you can make an informed decision based on what matters most to you, whether it’s a quiet pool time or simply a clean room for the night.

Jul 15, 2025 · Rachael JonesThe only positive for this hotel was the cleanliness of the room. Unfortunately, that was overshadowed by a significant billing error — they charged my card $1,100 and now it will take 7 to 10 business days for the refund to process. Moreover, I found it quite inappropriate that my kids were trying to enjoy the pool while a lady conducted swim lessons with her students in the same space. Given these experiences, I cannot recommend this hotel and would certainly not return.
Jun 19, 2025 · Sarah IrwinAs Marriott members, we were told they were giving us a "deluxe" room. We entered the room to a very musty smell; nothing deluxe about the room! We also noticed an empty glass with a lime on the heating unit ( which we alerted the staff upon checkout). A day after we returned home, we saw our room bill. We were charged for the bottle of water that was on the desk. We never touched that bottle, but the cleaning lady claimed that it was missing from the room. Sounds like she might have been a bit upset that we complained about the dirty glass left there with the lime! Marriott refused to take the price of the bottle off the bill. We were there for two nights and never touched it! BTW, our room was not cleaned during our stay, and the musty odor remained!
Jun 12, 2025 · Andi BBig thank you to the service team. They provided flexibility and comfort during a time of family need. A very human approach to doing business that I very much appreciate. Thank you for your understanding and grace. 5 star customer service.
Jul 17, 2025 · Matt CatanzariteKind of out of the way. I went there to babysit and everything was really open and spacious. I was in a suite, but I found the bathroom to be really tiny. When I closed the door there were mere centimeters between the edge of the toilet and the door. That personally wouldn't keep me from staying here though since the living area was large as was the bed.
