Apr 13, 2025 · Joe MartinSolid stay for a ski trip. The hotel is ideally located near North Conway (10-15 minute drive), Nestlenook Farms (1 mile away), Attitash (15 minutes) while being out of the hustle and bustle and traffic. We skated at Nestlenook one night and then had dinner at the Red Fox, all within a 5 minute drive. We did enjoy the tea service, cookies and games our first night. However, the other days we were out the door at 7:30 am and did not return until the evening. We love old and historic properties, so we don't mind the outdated features in exchange for the cool, old factors. Driving up, the hotel has the huge porch you would expect to see. We paid less than 1/3 the amount our friends did to stay closer to the mountain. So, as a base for the ski trip, it was affordable and served our needs. We packed coolers for food, etc. and did not eat at the restaurant or tavern. The tavern is recently updated and looks nice. We did use the coffee set-up in the morning. As people have said, the lobby is historic and lovely with a fireplace, puzzles, games and plenty of cozy places to sit. The rest of the hotel is a bit tired, with some peeling wallpaper and features. The rooms don't have a mini fridge or microwave. However, the closet fit all our gear so we had plenty of room for a family of 4. The water pressure and amount of hot water was great. The bathroom is a bit tired, as some people mentioned. However, for $150 a night during February vacation for a family of 4? It makes the ski trip a little more affordable and was a comfortable place to return to at the end of the day. Everyone we encountered for staff was friendly, helpful and polite!
Feb 20, 2025 · Megan Mahoney-PalmerLocation was great, hot shower, decent bed. Didn't realize we were in a pet friendly room until I became extremely congested and went to shower revealing black dog hair all in the tub!! Then looked at bedding closely and noticed dog hair all over it. We checked out by 8am. I booked this room months ago to be put in a pet friendly room without a pet. I was told I should have requested not to be in a pet friendly room, what?! Then was given 10 bucks off wow. Not great customer service unfortunately will not be staying again and would have expected something more from management!
Jan 26, 2025 · Jana FaustrumGood location and price (which increases things to a 3.5). Beautiful structure that is somewhat dated. Sparse on the extras (bedskirt, fridge, functional/any table in the room) But, you're not paying for more either. I had been there in 2004, and things were a bit more luxurious then. Still, I would go back without hesitation. Safe, clean, and decent value.
Nov 29, 2024 · Craig ShermanBeautiful place with great views and even better people. We checked in around sunset, and the drive up to the hotel was so nice. It was lovely to pull up and see many people hanging out on the porch and making use of the rocking chairs. The staff were all very friendly. This place is not a high-tech spot, but it very much has a nice charm. It's also very close to great places to eat!
