This place gets a 2 star because of location. It is not what it once was since new management took over. No more room cleaners, two towels per room and they kept our security deposit because they claimed we did damage to the room. Funnily enough my family has been coming to the resort for 30 years and staying in that room specifically for the past 5 trips. New management just kept the deposit knowing Canadians probably will let it go. Really disappointed that our tradition ends now on a sour note. We will stay elsewhere. But the location is prime so it gets 2 stars.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with a desire for a more independent and home-like vacation experience along the Southern Maine Coast, the Eastwinds Resort in Wells, Maine, presents an intriguing option. Located at 371 Mile Rd, Wells, ME 04090, USA, Eastwinds operates primarily as a condominium resort, meaning guests often rent individual units that are privately owned and managed. This structure contributes to a diverse range of accommodations and guest experiences, while the prime location remains a consistent draw.
The environment at Eastwinds Resort is characterized by its exceptional proximity to Wells Beach. Many units are described as being "just steps from Wells Beach," offering guests unparalleled access to the sandy shores and the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean. While individual units may or may not offer direct ocean views from their balconies, the beach is easily accessible from anywhere on the property. The overall atmosphere aims to be welcoming and "beachy," with many units decorated to reflect a coastal theme, enhancing the vacation mood. The layout of the resort is designed to maximize this closeness to the ocean, providing a truly desirable setting for a seaside getaway.
In terms of services and features, Eastwinds Resort distinguishes itself by offering condo-style accommodations that are typically well-appointed and provide the conveniences of a home. Each unit usually features a fully equipped kitchen, which is a significant advantage for guests who prefer to cook their own meals. This includes necessary cooking utensils, allowing for a self-catering vacation. Units often comprise a queen-size bedroom, a full living room that may include a queen-size sleep sofa, and a full bath. Amenities commonly found across units include air conditioning, cable TV, and complimentary wireless internet access. Many units also boast a private balcony or a shared deck, complete with outdoor seating, where guests can relax and enjoy the sea air. Some units even include a washer and dryer, adding to the convenience for longer stays.
The experience at Eastwinds Resort can vary, largely due to the individual ownership and management of the units. Some guests have reported staying in "nicely appointed, very beachy, one bedroom apartments" that are "so comfortable and cozy," highlighting recent renovations and thoughtful decoration. These positive experiences often praise the "fabulous" innkeepers or property managers who provide excellent rates and personalized touches, such as a welcome note on the granite countertop. These units are often described as being decorated "from the heart," creating a charming and inviting ambiance, sometimes featuring unique pieces like a "lobster trap coffee table."
However, it is important to note that, as with any property where units are individually owned, there can be inconsistencies. Some reviews indicate a shift in management or policies that have led to changes in services, such as a reduction in room cleaning services or a change in towel provision. There have also been instances where guests have expressed disappointment regarding security deposits. These variations underscore the importance of checking recent reviews for the specific unit being rented and communicating directly with the individual unit manager or booking agent regarding current policies and amenities.
Despite these potential variations, the prime location of Eastwinds Resort remains its most consistent and compelling feature. Its direct proximity to Wells Beach is a major draw for visitors to the Southern Maine Coast. Beyond the beach, the resort's address at 371 Mile Road places it conveniently near numerous local attractions. Guests can easily access the Wells area's renowned antique shops, diverse dining options ranging from casual seafood shacks to more formal restaurants, and various family-friendly activities. The seasonal trolley service in Wells provides a convenient way to explore the area without needing a car, connecting guests to Wells Beach, Ogunquit, and other points of interest like the Ogunquit Playhouse.
Promotional information for Eastwinds Resort often emphasizes its "steps to the beach" advantage and the comfort of its condo-style units. While specific promotional offers might depend on the individual unit owner or booking platform, the core appeal is the combination of a fully equipped, private living space with the unbeatable location. Many guests choose Eastwinds for its ability to provide a "home away from home" atmosphere, allowing for flexible vacation planning, including cooking meals and enjoying relaxed evenings on a private balcony. The resort is popular for both short getaways and longer family vacations, offering a more independent alternative to traditional hotel stays.
In summary, Eastwinds Resort offers a distinct lodging option for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Wells, Maine, particularly for travelers who appreciate the space and amenities of a condo-style unit. While guest experiences regarding service levels can vary due to the nature of individual unit ownership, the resort's unbeatable location, often just steps from Wells Beach, remains its strongest asset. The ability to enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, separate living areas, and private outdoor spaces makes Eastwinds Resort a desirable choice for a comfortable and flexible beach vacation on the picturesque Southern Maine Coast.

Jul 25, 2023 · Richard AndersonWhat an amazing place! We stayed in a very nicely appointed, very beachy, one bedroom apartment. Our room didn't have a view of the ocean, but you could see it easily from the end of the balcony. So comfortable and cozy. The innkeeper was fabulous! She gave us a great rate considering the apartment had a brand new kitchen in it and it was fully furnished. I can't imagine we could have stayed at a nicer place, with nicer people. Upon arrival, there was a cute little welcome note on the granite countertop adjacent to the kitchen. I wish I would have taken pictures, because there's no way I can describe how cute it really was. Besides the bedroom, there was a full size sofa and a full recliner in the living room with the cutest lobster trap coffee table! This place was decorated from the heart! We will definitely stay here again.
Mar 17, 2018 · Kathy LWe stayed in room 110 for a week. The room is a corner room, giving a good view of the ocean. The room was decorated very cute, was clean, with a modern kitchen. The fold out couch was a bit uncomfortable-as are most pull outs. We really enjoyed our stay, and will be back.
Jul 24, 2019 · Rachel WeeksA very lovely little condo, fully stocked with anything we could possibly need for our stay (there was even a lobster pot and cracker lol). It's only two doors down from the beach, such a short walk. We had no contact check in, which was lovely. We went off season (April 6) and didn't even see any of the others staying there.
Apr 07, 2021 · Hope De PaolaI have been coming here for 5 years as a get away for anniversaries and such. This winter I rented for 4 months. It is a great place to stay. Shelley and Carson are great! Would recommend staying here for sure.
