Ok, it's been 1 week ago that I stayed one night here and I've been trying to come up with true words, but being kind. These booking apps do an over-hype that's not true. This place wasn't near the River Walk... it was kinda close by but not at a view as it showed on the booking site. The complimentary breakfast was a gallon of milk placed on the counter and 2 little containers of mixed cereal. That was it. I was very disappointed that I drove the family somewhere else to have breakfast. The restroom needs a lot of work, such as a deep scrub. I even tried to hang a towel and that rod fell off. So I quickly went to the front deck with that rod in hand to show them that it was like that. Showed proof so they won't keep my $100 deposit. The sheets weren't even replaced because I could see the dirt from a previous use. We found out that they are part of OYO hotels. Nope never again even if I have to pay more to stay at another hotel. Also, they require a $100 deposit and they charge $15 for their parking. Get this and they are not responsible for our car being broken into. What a rip-off if the parking lot is part of their establishment.
Howdy, Texans! When planning a trip to our vibrant city of San Antonio, finding accommodation that balances budget with convenience is often a top priority. Today, we're taking a closer look at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio. This article is crafted for you, our local users, to provide a frank and factual overview, incorporating real guest experiences, to help you make an informed decision about your stay in the Alamo City.
Econo Lodge is a brand generally known for providing economical lodging, aiming to offer essential amenities at a lower price point. However, as with any hotel, individual experiences can vary widely, and it's crucial to set realistic expectations, especially when booking through third-party apps that might "over-hype" a property. Our goal here is to give you an honest picture, highlighting both the reported strengths and weaknesses based on direct feedback from previous guests.
We'll delve into the hotel's exact location and how accessible it truly is to San Antonio's attractions. We'll also cover the services typically offered by an Econo Lodge, such as complimentary breakfast and parking, and discuss specific features that have been mentioned by guests. It's important to note that some reviews express significant concerns about cleanliness, room conditions, and aspects of the complimentary services, while others highlight positive interactions with staff and the overall value for the price. This article aims to present a comprehensive, yet balanced, view to help you decide if this budget option aligns with your travel needs for San Antonio.
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio is located at 1122 S Laredo St, San Antonio, TX 78204, USA. Its name suggests a downtown presence and proximity to the River Walk, which can be a key draw for many visitors.
According to information available, the hotel is situated off the PanAm Expressway (I-10 W. exit 155 A), approximately "just a mile from downtown and the famous San Antonio River Walk." While some booking sites might imply a direct "view" of the River Walk, guest reviews clarify that it's "kinda close by but not at a view as it showed on the booking site." It's important to understand that while it's in the downtown area, it's not directly on the River Walk, requiring a walk or short drive to reach the main attractions. Specifically, sources indicate it's about "2.4 km away" from the River Walk and Alamo.
The location does offer proximity to other notable downtown areas, including Market Square (a short walk or drive), the Henry B. González Convention Center (under three miles away), and the Tower of the Americas. San Antonio International Airport is also noted to be about a 15-minute drive away, offering reasonable accessibility for those flying in.
A significant point of accessibility for drivers is the on-site self-parking. However, it's crucial to note that this parking comes with a charge of "$10 per day." Furthermore, one guest review specifically mentioned concerns regarding parking lot security, stating, "they are not responsible for our car being broken into," which is a notable point for anyone driving their own vehicle. While the location provides relatively quick access to key parts of San Antonio, visitors should be aware of the walking distances and the parking policies.
Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio offers a range of services typical for a budget-friendly hotel, aiming to provide essential comforts for its guests.
Despite some noted drawbacks, Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio does offer several features that can be considered highlights for certain types of travelers:
As part of the Choice Hotels family, Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio often participates in various promotions. While specific offers can vary, here are common types of promotions and ways to find the best rates:
Given its budget category, the "promotion" for this Econo Lodge often comes in the form of its generally lower base prices compared to other downtown options. However, it's always wise to verify all policies, including deposits and parking fees, to ensure there are no surprises.
For reservations, inquiries, or to get more detailed information about Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio, you can use the following contact details:
It is highly recommended to call the hotel directly, especially if you have specific concerns about room condition, amenities, or deposit/parking policies, to ensure you receive the most accurate and up-to-date information before booking.
For Texans looking for a truly budget-conscious option in San Antonio, the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio can be suitable, but with significant caveats that locals should absolutely be aware of. If your primary goal is to save money on accommodation while being within a short drive or a more substantial walk to downtown attractions, and you're prepared for a no-frills experience, this hotel might fit the bill.
The key "suitability" for locals lies in its low price point, which can be very appealing for quick trips, events where you'll spend minimal time in the room, or for travelers who prioritize extreme budget savings above all else. Its location, while not directly on the River Walk, still provides a base from which to access attractions like Market Square, the Alamodome, and the River Walk area with relative ease by car or via a walk. The presence of in-room microwaves and mini-fridges can also be a plus for Texans looking to save money on dining out.
However, it's crucial for locals to manage expectations based on the candid reviews. If "spotless" and "comfortable" are high on your list of priorities, and particularly if you are traveling with family where specific amenities like a reliable pull-out bed are essential, you may find the experience disappointing. Issues such as the highly criticized "complimentary breakfast," reported cleanliness concerns in some rooms, and the $10 parking fee (with disclaimers about responsibility for vehicle security) are significant points to consider. Texans are savvy travelers, and understanding these aspects upfront is key to avoiding frustration.
In essence, for the very budget-conscious Texan who understands the trade-offs of a lower-priced hotel and prioritizes proximity to downtown San Antonio, the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown San Antonio serves as a basic, functional crash pad. However, it’s not a place for those expecting consistent comfort, comprehensive amenities, or a luxurious experience. It's a choice driven by economics, and an informed local will know exactly what they're getting into.

Apr 11, 2025 · joe hernandezStaff was great. Rooms weren't that great , floor was dirty and shower was filthy. I never got room service wile i stayed their ,location was far from all the restaurants and the Riverwalk. I also had the issue with the outlets, i thought my charger was no good because it made this weird clicking sound but I saw the reviews and I guess everyone has had issues with the outlets . The staff was really friendly though
Feb 19, 2025 · juan vHad a great time there ! Not as packed as the other hotels ive stayed at so I was able to finally enjoy the pool which I am never able to! House keeping didn't come by the 2days I was there but no biggie im sure if you need anything the staff will be more than helpful! Location wise I loved it , I was about 7min from downtown , you just go straight after you exit and bam you are in downtown ! My only thing was having a hard time finding a cvs cause I needed to buy papers late at night and it kept taking me to the CVS on the Riverwalk and I couldn't figure out parking lol im not from a big city, other than that there was a mcdonalds, pizza hut and a few gas stations about 2 min away so location was great for me. The area was fine as far as seeing anything sketchy. i didnt see any crazy people lol there were lots of cops driving by the expressway , i felt safe having my car parked there. There is one entrance and you have to go back through it to exit so nobody can just be coming in without being noticed . my last thing ill mention is the movie channel ! I have no clue what channel i set it to but the movies were phenomenal, I watched all 3 of the devils rejects and they were showing great movies all day with no commercials! Can't wait to visit again with the rest of the family, ill definitely look forward to staying there! Thank you Hina and Omar you guys did amazing ! Loved the hospitality and really appreciated the fact yall knew spanish ! Will see yall soon☺️
May 22, 2025 · Daena GonzalezBad neighborhood, charged more than the priceline reservation, charged for free parking, asked for cash exchange for deposit to be given back. Continental breakfast is crumbs of cereal, couple slices of bread and bagels. Milk left on counter. Room very dirty. Bathroom had mold and was slimy, sheets were dirty.
Apr 01, 2025 · Jessica CI came one month ago and I never got back my deposit. I tried to call twice and they never find a solution. More than that the hotel was bad, I’ve never had problem with an hotel before. DON’T GO THERE
