As someone who travels year round for work across the entire east coast and mid states, this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. First time staying there was a rat in my room, you can tell they have them because they have mouse and rat traps around the front office. Second time the power went out but only in certain parts of the hotel but all the rooms were out so I had to throw away all my cold food. (funny enough the front office still had power where the employees were all sitting in AC) third time they charged me twice for my stay, which is weird because she said she only charged me once and then asked for my card again. Tub wouldn’t drain while taking a shower. There is only two outlets in the room, none by the beds. Everything is old and worn down. Toilets do not flush properly. Sketchy people around the hotel which I’m sure are selling/doing drugs. Front desk has no idea what they’re doing. I would much rather spend the extra 20 bucks a night staying ANYWHERE else.

Econo Lodge Introduce

When searching for "Hotels Near Me" in Allentown, PA, particularly for those on a strict budget, the Econo Lodge at 1701 Catasauqua Rd, Allentown, PA 18109, USA, might appear as an option due to its recognized brand name and seemingly accessible location. However, an objective introduction, as per the request, must be based on all available information, including recent customer reviews which paint a concerning picture of the hotel's current state and service quality. This introduction will detail the hotel's environment, services, features, and any potential promotional aspects, while critically incorporating the significant negative feedback to provide a balanced and factual overview for local users.

The environment of the Econo Lodge is situated on Catasauqua Road, a location that offers practical access to several key areas in Allentown. Its proximity to the Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is a notable advantage for air travelers, making it a potentially convenient stopover. The hotel's position also provides relatively easy access to major roadways such as US-22 and I-176, which connect to various parts of the Lehigh Valley. The immediate surroundings are likely characterized by other commercial establishments, including dining options and retail outlets that typically line arterial roads. While the location offers logistical convenience for transit, the general ambiance of the property, as suggested by customer feedback, may indicate a lack of recent upkeep. External aesthetics are unlikely to be a primary draw, with the focus being more on basic functionality due to its budget-friendly positioning. Free self-parking is expected to be available, typical for motels in such areas, catering to guests traveling by car.

Regarding services, Econo Lodge, as a budget-friendly brand, typically aims to provide essential provisions. This usually includes a front desk service for check-in and check-out, and potentially some basic assistance. However, based on customer reviews, the efficacy and attentiveness of the front desk staff appear to be a significant concern, with one reviewer noting, "Front desk has no idea what they’re doing." Standard services such as daily housekeeping, while generally expected, were explicitly stated as "no house keeping available" by one guest, which is a critical lapse in service for any hotel, even a budget one. While complimentary breakfast is often a feature of Econo Lodges, no information on this specific amenity is available from the provided reviews or readily apparent online for this particular location. The lack of basic towel provision ("one towel per person. For a 2 night stay!!") further highlights a concerning deficit in fundamental hotel services.

The features of the Econo Lodge, based on the provided information, appear to be severely compromised by issues of maintenance and age. Rooms are described as "outdated," with "everything is old and worn down." Specific complaints include a "tiny bathroom" with a "flaky" tub that "has seen better days" and "wouldn’t drain while taking a shower." Furthermore, critical issues such as "only two outlets in the room, none by the beds" are mentioned, indicating a significant lack of modern convenience and basic functionality that most travelers now expect. Concerns about "toilets do not flush properly" point to fundamental plumbing problems. Perhaps the most alarming "feature" highlighted by a former guest is the presence of "a rat in my room" and "mouse and rat traps around the front office," which speaks to severe pest control issues that directly impact the habitability and hygiene of the establishment. The review also implies a potential safety concern with "sketchy people around the hotel which I’m sure are selling/doing drugs," suggesting a lack of proper security or management of the premises. While typically Econo Lodge rooms would offer basic amenities like a TV and air conditioning, the review about a power outage affecting rooms but not the front office ("all the rooms were out so I had to throw away all my cold food") further illustrates operational issues and a lack of guest-centric problem-solving.

Given the overwhelmingly negative customer feedback, any "promotional information" for this specific Econo Lodge location would need to be critically assessed. While the brand typically promotes affordability and convenience, the experiences reported by recent guests severely undermine these potential selling points. Instead of traditional promotional phrases, an objective introduction based on the provided reviews would lead a prospective guest to consider the following:

  • Extreme Budget Option: This hotel appears to cater to guests for whom cost is the absolute primary determinant, and who are willing to overlook significant deficiencies in cleanliness, maintenance, and service.
  • Location for Transit: Its proximity to the airport and major highways might be the sole compelling factor for individuals needing an immediate, bare-bones place to stay, perhaps for a very short overnight layover where the priority is simply a roof over one's head.
  • High Risk of Disappointment: Prospective guests should be acutely aware of the documented issues, including pest infestations, power outages impacting guest rooms, outdated and malfunctioning room features (drains, toilets, outlets), and a severe lack of basic services like adequate towels and housekeeping.
  • Value for Money Concerns: Despite being a budget option, the sentiment "I would much rather spend the extra 20 bucks a night staying ANYWHERE else" from an experienced traveler strongly suggests that even at its low price point, the value offered is perceived as extremely poor.

In conclusion, for local users searching for "Hotels Near Me" in Allentown, the Econo Lodge at 1701 Catasauqua Rd should be approached with extreme caution. While its address offers logistical convenience, the overwhelming and severe negative feedback from recent customers regarding cleanliness, pest control, room functionality, and service quality strongly indicates that it may not meet even basic expectations for a comfortable and safe stay. Travelers are advised to carefully weigh these concerns and potentially consider spending "the extra 20 bucks a night" for alternative accommodations in the area that offer a more reliable and satisfactory experience. The hotel's phone numbers are (610) 264-7531 and +1 610-264-7531 for direct inquiries, though the provided reviews suggest managing expectations regarding the quality of service.

Do not stay here unless you absolutely have too!! Rooms are outdated . Bathroom is tiny & tub is flaky and has seen better days. The room had 2 bath towels and the front desk claimed they had no extra in the entire building. He actually told me it's one towel per person. For a 2 night stay!! Service is absolutely abysmal. There was no house keeping available. I would've given zero stars if I was able. Owners should be ashamed of themselves. Never ever stayed in a hotel/motel this cheap or seen anything like this.

DONT BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS..I checked into the hotel on the 19th of Dec. Upon entering the lobby, i was greeted by a very pleasant front desk agent "Aimee". She explained all the questions I had during check-in. Thanks, Aimee. The guest room was clean. Beds are a little high but very comfortable. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful.

I will take this down if and when they correct themselves. Please beware of this hotel. They are discriminating against me and refused to rent to me because of my two service animals. I have the proper documentation. My service animals keep me from killing myself help me with my anxiety and PTSD I cannot be without them. This is a horrible thing to do. I'm also in a homeowner situation and am dealing with a loved one who has serious mental health issues. They are also refusing to give me my deposit back there was no damage to the room there's no reason to not give it back. They are also refusing to give me my 8000 points back that they are refusing to give me for discriminating against my medically needed service animals and my disabilities. This is like not letting a diabetic have their insulin it's horrible. I've been outside with serious disabilities in 20 degree weather freezing because of this now I have to freeze another night. I might die I cannot regulate my body temperature. How can people be so horrible. They also have these horrible things in the hallway that do not stop beeping i have sensory disabilities. This place sure seems to discriminate against disabled persons. They also forced my room to be inspected which was a violation of my privacy I've never had to have housekeeping and have never been forced twice to have an inspection.

Get to hotel they wanted a $50 CASH deposit. The room only had 1 set of outlets far from the bed. Light didn't work. Bath room didn't have a plug so couldn't take a bath. The heater is very loud hard to sleep.
