It’s a nice enough hotel but the service is really hit or miss with the primary issue being that many of the employees are argumentative and rude. The room was fine, shower was weak and the sink didn’t like to drain quickly. But the blankets, sheets, towels, carpets, etc., were spotless. Even the iron looked new and clean. A couple of the front desk staff were argumentative and spoke down to us. The bartender was outright abysmal. I’ll give a shoutout to the manager, Greg, who definitely busted his rear end to ensure that things were smooth and issues were corrected, but there’s something to be said about first impressions. One bad mouthed staff member sets the tone. Two rude staff members breaks the trip. The set up/tear down function staff were nice. Mia and a younger gentleman whose name I did not get. Both of them were kind and pleasant to work with.
When considering options under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Danbury, Connecticut, the Ethan Allen Hotel, located at 21 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury, CT 06811, USA, is one of the choices that may appear. For inquiries or reservations, the hotel can be reached at (203) 744-1776 or +1 203-744-1776. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the hotel based on recent customer reviews, covering its environment, services, features, and any discernible promotional information.
From an environmental perspective, the Ethan Allen Hotel presents itself as a "nice enough hotel" in terms of its physical appearance and cleanliness. Guests have noted that areas such as "blankets, sheets, towels, carpets, etc., were spotless." Even seemingly minor details like the iron were observed to be "new and clean." This indicates a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the guest rooms and presumably other areas of the hotel. However, some feedback points to potential challenges with the building's layout. One reviewer described the "floor plan is ridiculous," expressing concerns about spending "a lot of time walking around looking for rooms, ice machines, bathrooms and exits." This aspect of the environment could potentially impact guest convenience and navigation within the property, which is an important consideration for travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" who prioritize ease of access and intuitive design. There was also a concerning observation about "dishes in the hallway for 3 days," which, if true, suggests a lapse in maintaining public areas, directly contradicting the positive remarks about in-room cleanliness.
The service at the Ethan Allen Hotel appears to be a significant point of contention, characterized by a "hit or miss" quality according to multiple guests. While some staff members are lauded for their performance, others are described in very negative terms. Positive mentions include the "set up/tear down function staff," specifically Mia and a younger gentleman, who were noted as "kind and pleasant to work with." This suggests that the hotel's event-related services may be more consistently positive. Furthermore, a "shoutout to the manager, Greg," highlights that efforts are made at a management level to "ensure that things were smooth and issues were corrected." This indicates a responsiveness to guest concerns when elevated to management. Conversely, several critical comments describe "many of the employees are argumentative and rude." Specific instances include "a couple of the front desk staff were argumentative and spoke down to us," and the "bartender was outright abysmal." Another guest stated that "the staff are ignorant to the guests, argumentative, and seem irritated when asked to do there job." Such inconsistencies in service can significantly impact the overall guest experience, and for individuals seeking reliable and welcoming "Hotels Near Of Me," this aspect warrants careful consideration. The sentiment that "one bad mouthed staff member sets the tone. Two rude staff members breaks the trip" underscores the critical importance of consistent and positive staff interactions.
Regarding features, the hotel rooms are described as "fine," with specific mentions of a "weak shower" and a sink that "didn’t like to drain quickly." While cleanliness of linens and other in-room items is praised, these functional issues with plumbing could detract from guest comfort. The hotel’s primary appeal, beyond basic accommodation, seems to lie in its capacity for events, given the positive remarks about the function staff. Although not explicitly detailed as a feature, the existence of a bar and function spaces is implied by the mention of a bartender and setup/teardown staff. The challenging floor plan, as highlighted by a guest, could be considered an operational feature that impacts guest navigation, raising practical concerns, particularly in emergency scenarios. There is no information provided about amenities such as a pool, fitness center, or on-site dining beyond what can be inferred about the bar and event catering. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," a comprehensive understanding of available amenities is often crucial for decision-making.
Promotional information, directly from the provided reviews, is scarce. The positive feedback about cleanliness and the efforts of specific staff members like Manager Greg and the function staff implicitly promote the hotel's commitment to certain standards and problem resolution. However, the overwhelmingly negative sentiment regarding general staff behavior, particularly at the front desk and bar, acts as a counter-promotion, strongly advising against staying at the hotel. Phrases like "Do not stay here! Your money is better spent elsewhere" and "Seriously, find a different place!" serve as strong warnings to potential guests. While the hotel offers fundamental lodging and appears to be a venue for events, the prevalent concerns about staff demeanor and certain aspects of the room's functionality and the building's layout may overshadow any inherent positive attributes. Guests interested in the Ethan Allen Hotel for specific event purposes or with a strong preference for cleanliness might still consider it, but it would be advisable to call the hotel directly at (203) 744-1776 or +1 203-744-1776 to inquire about recent improvements in service, current promotions, or to clarify any concerns based on these reviews. Ultimately, for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," an objective assessment of the Ethan Allen Hotel would need to weigh its reported cleanliness and dedicated management against the significant and repeated concerns about staff rudeness and facility navigation.

Apr 25, 2025 · Mr HarveyDo not stay here! Your money is better spent elsewhere. Not family friendly, the staff are ignorant to the guests, argumentative, and seem irritated when asked to do there job. The floor plan is ridiculous, you WILL spend a lot of time walking around looking for rooms, ice machines, bathrooms and exits. I hope you're not here WHEN a fire breaks out. Seriously, find a different place! The dishes in the photo have been in the hallway for 3 days.
May 02, 2025 · Inkelbert HumperdinkDo not stay here! Go somewhere else. Worst hotel stay ever. My room was filthy, towels were stained, carpet was disgusting and stained, I asked to switch rooms and was moved to a slightly better one, still bad. Mold in the bathrooms, no air ventilation in the bathroom, windows have no insulation so you hear the highway all night and the temperature in the room is the same as outside. Now that I’m reading the reviews of bed bugs and checking out. I am looking for bites or any signs of bringing them home. I was forced to stay here after a conference and work stayed over time. If I had known it was this bad I would’ve just slept in my car or gone anywhere else. And they do not answer the front desk phone. HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS SOMEONE. Idk how they have such high rating with all the bad reviews. Maybe they pay for fake reviews? This place should be shut down by the department or board of health.
Apr 14, 2025 · Victoria CurryBREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED must pay an extra fee. Room 202 - had tape holding the batteries of the remote, - the phone didn’t work at all, - the carpets were all stained with black tar-like stains, hoping it wasn’t mold and - the toilet didn’t flush. - A lot of the outlets didn’t work or were too wide to hold a charger. Room 209, which I was switched to was a little better. - Still the same weird black stains on the beige carpeted floor and I did not trust walking barefoot on. Always bring slides, slippers or flip flops. - The toilet seat doesn’t stay up for men to use, - the paint in the bathroom was chipping. - The chargers on the radio did not work - They don’t have any of the usb only chargers so you must bring a power plug/wall plug to charge all devices. Not worth over $80 a night.
Apr 12, 2025 · Boonies FarmDO NOT STAY HERE. This hotel needs to be torn down and labeled as hazardous. There was definitely mold in our room, stains on the couch, and stains on the sheets and carpets. The rugs throughout the hotel are gross. The entire 2nd floor and 1st floor smell really bad. The front desk staff never answers the phone, and nobody works the front desk through the night. And there were bedbugs as well! Eek, run!
