Stayed there for one night and the service was horrible. They didn’t have anything. They gave us one bar of body soap. I asked for hand soap and they said they didn’t have more. Asked for more cups as only one was provided for a 2 people stay and they said they didn’t have any more. The service was horrible. The room does come with a stove top but bring your own pots and pans as they charge $40 for theirs and room service. They charge for room service in between stays which I think is a bit weird. Based on their website it looks friendly and they actually care for their guest but they’re cheap. The front desk people are really nice but when it came to services they literally had nothing. If you stay at this hotel make sure to bring your own everything.
Introduction / Overview
For Wisconsinites in the Fox Valley region, situations often arise where a traditional overnight hotel stay simply isn't enough. Whether it's a longer business trip, a relocation, a home renovation, or a family visit that extends beyond a couple of days, an extended stay hotel offers a practical and often more affordable solution. Extended Stay America Select Suites - Appleton - Fox Cities is one such option, catering specifically to guests who require a more residential feel with the conveniences of a hotel. The concept behind this type of lodging is to provide a home-like environment with a focus on self-sufficiency, which can be a huge draw for people needing to settle in for a while. The hotel's website highlights its focus on longer stays, advertising features like spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and on-site guest laundry facilities. This model is designed to give guests the independence to cook their own meals and handle their own laundry, which can lead to significant cost savings over time. However, it is important to note that a full kitchen does not always mean it comes with all the accessories. Based on some public reviews, it appears that guests must either bring their own pots, pans, and dishes or purchase a cooking pack and a dining pack from the hotel. This is a detail that anyone considering a stay here should be aware of, as it differs from the all-inclusive expectation some might have. A positive aspect that is frequently mentioned is the friendliness of the front desk staff, who are noted as being very nice. This is a crucial element of hospitality that can greatly influence a guest's experience, especially during a prolonged stay. While some reviews mention a lack of amenities and cleanliness issues, others have praised the staff and the convenience of the room layout, indicating that experiences at the hotel can vary. The hotel also has limited front desk hours, which is a policy that guests should be aware of, as it may impact check-in and assistance availability, sometimes requiring the use of a phone in the lobby to contact an off-site call center to reach an employee on-site. This is a key operational detail that speaks to its focus on being a self-service, extended stay option rather than a full-service hotel.
The hotel's design and services are built around the idea of practicality and efficiency. The studio suites are meant to provide ample space for guests to work, dine, and relax, making them suitable for individuals or small families. The inclusion of a stovetop, microwave, and full-size refrigerator in every room is a major selling point, as it provides the foundation for guests to manage their own food preparation. However, as noted by past guests, the lack of complimentary kitchenware can be a surprise and requires extra planning. The hotel's pet-friendly policy is another significant feature, allowing guests to bring up to two dogs for a fee. This is a huge benefit for locals who are between homes or on a long assignment and don't want to leave their beloved pets behind. The on-site laundry facilities are also a critical component for anyone staying for an extended period, offering a necessary convenience. The hotel's commitment to providing a foundational set of services for long-term guests is what defines its offering. While some guests might find the lack of certain amenities to be a drawback, others will appreciate the straightforward, no-frills approach that often comes with a more budget-friendly price point for extended stays. The hotel's value is truly in its ability to provide the basic infrastructure needed for a longer visit, allowing guests to establish a comfortable routine while they are away from home. Its presence in the Appleton market offers a vital alternative to traditional hotels, filling a niche for those who need more than just a bed for the night.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Wisconsinites, Extended Stay America Select Suites - Appleton - Fox Cities serves a unique and valuable purpose. Jul 28, 2025 · Mya HaydenZero room amenities. Not even a coffee pot. Has a kitchenette but good luck, you have to pay for pots and pans. Desk hours are abysmal. Have to use a phone in the lobby to have someone at a call center call an employee that is in the facility to come resolve issues. Room key stopped working 3 times. This place sucks. Avoid at all costs.
Jun 27, 2025 · Dakota HoeckerBrookfield location was excellent! Great rates, friendly staff, safe space for my pet and I! Thank you Jon and Lauren for helping get me situated. Almost forgot to mention free breakfast! Much value for an already great price point.
Apr 23, 2025 · Justin WilkumTo quote the front desk, "you only get a clean room"! No amenities, no coffee pot, no pots and pans unless you pay an additional fee same with silverware. Only two sets of towels. You either wash them yourself or pay for clean ones. Same with the sheets! No housekeeping unless you stay for two weeks. Rug stunk. Furniture was old chipped, and unfinished. Light switch didn.t work and outlet sparked. Faucet dripped. Door stuck and was hard to open. Garbage laid on the hall floor for two days. You also have to take your own garbage out to the dumpster in the back of the parking lot We were charged an additional $67.00 because we checked out two days early after following their procedure We booked two rooms in March and asked to be next to each other and they put it in their notes. I had to argue with Tyler when he said he couldn.t. then he calls back and said, "i jumped threw hoops, did some magic, and moved mountains to get you one room away" ! We were given the "rules" when we checked in. They used multi-colored highlighters to emphasize them like we were children! We stayed in an Extended Stay America hotel before and it wasn.t anything like this one. If you want to pay for bare bones and do everything for yourself, this is the place to stay!
Jul 18, 2025 · Michele Miller HoffmanYour pictures look nice but the place needs work and employees that care. Room was dirty. Building itself is questionable. Waiting for the elevator on third floor and we could feel the floor move or shift once it reached the the top. Pictures are deceptive.
