I'll start with the good parts of our stay: the after hours process was smooth & hassle free; the unit was spacious and clean, the resort is large and very scenic. The bad parts: when driving to the resort itself at night, it's pitch black. There is minimal if any lighting and the road signs are extremely hard to read at night. There should be ample road lighting in and around the resort, especially by the road signs. And everything is called, " Fox this or Fox that". It is super confusing and lacks any creativity. When we entered the unit, it smelled super moldy and the sliding door in the unit didn't work so we felt very unsafe in the unit. The TV sets are a bit outdated so make sure you bring DVDS or VHS tapes for your stay. Even though you pay your maintenence fees, etc, you're still expected to gather your linens and trash for the cleaning people. Check in is 4pm?? And check out is 10am??? Yikes, so even though you pay for a full day, you don't get a full day on your stay due to these extremely early and late check in times.

These units are often equipped with multiple bedrooms, separate living and dining areas, and full kitchens, making them ideal for families or groups looking for more space and convenience than a traditional hotel room. Guests frequently praise the villas for being "spacious and clean," offering a comfortable and home-like atmosphere during their stay. The resort offers a variety of amenities to enhance your vacation, including an indoor pool and access to a private beach on Lake Lure. Some guests also mentioned outdated TV sets. However, many positive reviews highlight the "friendly and helpful" staff and the overall affordability and comfort of the stay. Guests appreciate that the villas are "fully furnished with appliances and utensils for making whatever you need," emphasizing that the resort leaves "nothing out" for a convenient stay. The check-in (4 PM) and check-out (10 AM) times have been noted as restrictive by some, but for many, the value and the beautiful surroundings make Fox Run Resort a worthwhile choice for a Western North Carolina getaway. It's a place where you can truly "feel at home" amidst nature's splendor.

Jun 08, 2025 · Lynn PhtMy family of 5 stayed in a villa over St. Patrick’s day weekend! Everyone was so friendly and helpful!!! We stayed 3 nights and it was so affordable and clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and the lake from the balcony, which our villa had two balconies! Everything you may need for your stay is there, they left nothing out! We will definitely be back!! Hopefully Chimney Rock will be back open soon!!
Mar 18, 2025 · Heather BrownSimply amazing location. Immersed in nature. Unit 201 is like a treehouse. Though a little “worn” and in need of some updates, it is truly an awesome place to stay.
Jun 14, 2025 · James Williamson GuyerWe went for a week, when we entered the first thing that was near the fireplace was a large dead cockroach, then in the room there were two more. Of the 7 days that we stayed, Saturday and Sunday were without cable and without internet and since that was not an emergency we had to wait until Monday. My worst vacation...I was disgusted by that place.
Jan 10, 2025 · Mary NoneThoroughly enjoyed my stay. The condo was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub was awesome, and the sinks and counter tops are spacious and perfect. The better would be to install new carpeting throughout. Two thumbs up!
