The room was gross, there was holes in the blankets there was bugs in the shower. And for the first time ever we had to pat for our dog, the fridge was broke, didn't even work.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with a focus on budget-friendly accommodations, the Friendly Inn, located at 8004 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg, PA 17112, USA, and reachable via phone at (717) 652-2634 or +1 717-652-2634, may appear as an option. This introduction aims to provide a balanced and objective overview of the hotel, synthesizing its basic information with the diverse experiences reported by past guests to give prospective visitors a clear picture.
The Friendly Inn is situated on Allentown Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in Harrisburg. This location typically means easy access to local roads and highways, which can be convenient for travelers. It places the motel within reasonable driving distance of various Harrisburg attractions and amenities. Notably, the Friendly Inn is located approximately a 10-minute drive from popular Hershey attractions such as Hershey's Chocolate World, Hersheypark, and Hersheypark Stadium, making it a potentially attractive option for visitors to these destinations looking for a more economical stay. The immediate environment is likely characterized by commercial establishments typical of a roadside motel, and while convenient for transportation, it may not offer particularly scenic views or tranquil surroundings. The property generally provides free self-parking for guests.
As a motel, the Friendly Inn typically offers basic lodging services. Available information suggests that the motel has 15 rooms. Common amenities include a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is available at any time. Rooms generally come with air conditioning, TVs with cable channels, and complimentary toiletries. Guests can also request microwaves, refrigerators, and hair dryers, which are useful for longer stays or for preparing simple meals. Free Wi-Fi is advertised as available in public areas, and sometimes in rooms, though its reliability can be a point of contention (as discussed later). Daily housekeeping is typically provided. It is important to note that, according to some sources, the Friendly Inn is generally not pet-friendly, with one review specifically mentioning having to pay for a dog, which contrasts with common policies of not allowing pets at all if they are not pet-friendly.
An objective introduction necessitates a detailed examination of customer feedback, which for the Friendly Inn presents a stark contrast in experiences. This hotel appears to evoke very strong and divergent opinions among guests.
On one hand, a highly positive review highlights the "humble people" who manage the inn, emphasizing their dedication to helping guests in "any situation" and their understanding nature. This guest praises the staff for being "friendly" and "quick to resolve any problem that arises in the room," including fixing anything that is wrong. This positive account also states that the "rooms are clean and nice size," and that the guest has "never had a problem with the service that I pay for." This perspective indicates that for some, the personal attention and problem-solving attitude of the management provide a satisfying stay, especially when issues are promptly addressed.
On the other hand, a review describes a profoundly negative experience, detailing significant cleanliness and maintenance issues. This guest reported that the "room was gross," with "holes in the blankets" and "bugs in the shower." The refrigerator in their room was also "broke" and "didn't even work." Such issues point to severe deficiencies in hygiene, upkeep, and basic room functionality. The discrepancy regarding pet policy (having to pay for a dog in a seemingly non-pet-friendly motel) also adds to this guest's dissatisfaction. Other reviews corroborate some of these concerns, with mentions of "mouse droppings in the towels and carpet and dead bugs everywhere," "stained sheets and holes," "sagging beds," "road noises all night," and a "strong musty smell." Some general remarks also describe the motel as "trashy," "old place," "run down," and in need of "remodeling," with issues like "cockroach infestation," "walls falling apart," and "ceiling was falling apart." The Wi-Fi access also appears to be inconsistent, with reports of it not being accessible from rooms or requiring the door to be left open.
The vast difference in these accounts suggests that the guest experience at Friendly Inn can be highly inconsistent. While some guests may encounter a clean room and receive excellent service from accommodating staff, others may face significant challenges related to cleanliness, maintenance, and pest control. This variability makes it challenging to predict a consistent experience for all visitors.
Given the mixed, and at times, severely negative reviews, the Friendly Inn's promotional strategy would likely focus on its affordability and proximity to Hershey attractions as its primary selling points. It positions itself as a very budget-friendly alternative for those visiting the area who prioritize cost savings above all else. Promotional language might highlight its 24-hour front desk and the availability of essential in-room amenities like microwaves and refrigerators upon request. The positive testimonials regarding the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff would also be used to convey a welcoming atmosphere and a willingness to address guest concerns. For those with extremely limited budgets, the Friendly Inn might be an option. However, for a broader audience seeking reliable standards of cleanliness, comfort, and consistent amenity functionality, the widespread concerns expressed in numerous reviews would necessitate careful consideration. It appears to cater to guests who are willing to accept potential compromises in room conditions for a significantly lower price point, or who are looking for a very basic, no-frills place to sleep after visiting local attractions.

Jul 10, 2021 · brian vasquezDont come expecting luxury and you will be happy. This place probably hasn't been updated since the 80s, it is in need of some significant repairs, and the furniture is old, but it was CHEAP, and more importantly, it was CLEAN. The service when we checked in at midnight was very friendly even though I'm pretty sure we woke her up. The shower was hot. The locks and ac worked very well. Just fine for a brief overnight prior to attending the park the next day. Would recommend to customers who aren't afraid of a well- worn environment.
Aug 11, 2018 · Joanna EasthamReally it is Zero stars This place was so disgusting. We pulled into the parking lot and the first thing we notice is the soffit is falling away, the roof singles are bare, the windows are filthy as are the curtains hanging in them as well as being torn. I immediately told my husband "we are not staying here". We went to the Manager to advise we we're canceling and she insisted we at least take a look at the room, as a courtesy we did. The inside was worse than the outside. My sinuses burned from the smell of smoke, the carpet was dinghy and stained. We both said no, called #Travelocity and cancelled our reservation. I can not believe that #Travelocity hosts the Family Inn on their website. The blessings was the we were able to get reservations elsewhere.
Aug 22, 2021 · Cynthia RistonI guess I should've believed the reviews on this motel.... good god! A bug on the chair, hairs on the sheets, toilet not secured to the floor, shower looked like it belongs in some 3rd world country...Avoid at all costs! Cob webs, soap dish dirty, no way I was getting in that shower, pillow cases stained yellow. The list goes on.
