Room was great. Old fashioned look to it was nice. The area (city) around the hotel was clean and enjoyable to walk around. The breakfast was generic prepackaged. We decided to skip it and go out for breakfast. The price... $150 plus. Would I do it again? Probably not.

May 07, 2025 · Scott ParkerHistoric hotel in a central part of town with free parking. Has a nice American restaurant on first floor. Would recommend as a stopover place for long road trips. I needed no prior recommendation. Just walked in and got a room. Receptionist was very accommodating and helpful. Price was reasonable. Room was very clean with subtle romantic vibes. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Breakfast was self-serve but good quality with waffles, bagels, yogurt, cereals, fruit, muffins and breakfast sandwiches. I appreciated the multiple creamer options for the coffee including caramel and hazelnut. Mountain side view was a sweet bonus.
Jan 12, 2025 · Lorin LetcherAvoid this hotel! It is managed by someone who lacks basic customer management skills AND is possibly a swindler. I booked two rooms to attend an event next door. The event was abruptly canceled with little warning and I called to cancel the rooms as quickly as possible. I was ONE HOUR past the deadline and was refused any type of refund. The outrageous part was that I was charged a third time and while I was eventually refunded that one charge, it was with obvious reluctance and ill grace. I travel frequently and am astonished that anyone would run a customer focused business this way. I made every attempt to resolve this with the manager and the owner, even involving the manager of the theater next door, before posting. Edit after the response: The offer to change my reservation was limited to a month or two out and that didn't work for me. Again, I was refused a refund when it was not my decision to cancel and I was only ONE HOUR past the deadline. This was followed by an offer that was borderline insulting in the limitations.
Mar 27, 2025 · Cindy DeOmsMinutes off I-81, and a welcome escape from the forgettable highway exit hotel chains, the GFMH is a charming historic hotel. Restaurants & bars are within a short walk. Free breakfast & parking. Surrounded by beautiful Virginia mountains, we were pleased with our choice to stay here and would absolutely recommend this hotel to others.
Mar 05, 2025 · JB In DCThis was a great stay. Not fancy....but it is if you can appreciate the historical aspect. My room was immaculate. So cute and comfy. I would choose this over a Marriott branded hotel every single time. What a gem!
