Feb 24, 2025 · Kathy BoydWe enjoyed our stay but this is an old, quirky house…a lot of quirks and definitely needs some TLC. The beds were super comfortable. Great location and although the driveway is steep, we were fine in our cars, but I can see how trailers could be an issue for sure.
Dec 08, 2024 · Shanna MerrittWe just finished our "Back of the Dragon" trip and were very happy with the accommodations at the "Dragon's Den". :) The place was immaculate (passed the white socks test) with plenty of room for all 6 of us. The vending machine seemed to be stocked for those who lacked 'preparedness' and kept the whole crew happy. Really enjoyed the front porch - to relax after a long day of riding, and the beds were heavenly - soft, but not too soft - just enough to take the ache out of my muscles and bones and make falling asleep easy. Big fluffy white towels (better than mine at home, for sure!) and wonderful smelling soap in the shower. It was close to town - we chose to ride, but it was certainly walkable too. Everything was conveniently located and easy to find. The restaurants near by were staffed by nice folks and the food was amazing. Kitchen had just the right tools to make making breakfast easy - including multiple frying pans with good non-stick surfaces for eggs and bacon... as well as pans for baking biscuits and casseroles. Oh - and a working 4 piece toaster... and don't forget the coffee makers! The dining room was spacious and had plenty of seating, we ate all our breakfasts here - and planning meetings as well. Be mindful of the steep driveway - some of our friends parked across the street on the gravel drive which didn't require negotiating the hill, that worked out well for them, and nobody touched them. I can't imagine staying at a better place this close to the rides. (The rides in the area are also amazing -- I don't think there is a straight road for miles!) Adam, the host, is extremely responsive and does all he can to make thing perfect.
Sep 23, 2024 · Laura CrouseWe were here for a wedding in Tazewell. It was a great location. It is a charming older home with a lot character. We would have loved to have known about it when we rode a motorcycle. We have done the dragon tail several times but never the back of the dragon. Maybe we will some day. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Nov 04, 2024 · Debbie PateReally loved the location being in Tazwell. Our riding family plans was to ride the Back, Head and Claws of the Dragon so it was perfect. The rooms are large with walk-in closets so was a bonus. The large dresser drawers and mirrors on the walls allowed for getting yourself together and organizing the attire for the days. Perhaps some new pillow cases for Bedroom#2 would improve the Lenin appeal. The kitchen had enough cookware to prepare breakfast for our riders each morning. The pictures didn't show the age of the home and from the outside view wouldn't know of the home settling observations and floors unevenness . We did like the large dinning room, front porch and family room. We spent evening on the front porch so never used the rear deck or side screened in space. The string lights on the front porch was a nice touch that allowed us to extend our chats late into the evening - well after dark. Heavy rains didn't allow us to utilize the bins for trash so that would be an item for maintenance by the host. Also, keeping a supply of kitchen trash bags would be a nice courtesy for guest. Our host was very prompt to assist when needed so kudos to Adam.
