Nice little spots. However, you can hear the conversations of other campers pretty clearly all around you. Never thought I'd be hearing about how pizza rolls are like Tide Pods filled with sauce in the middle of nowhere NH, lol. The bath house was pretty good but the stalls didn't shut all the way. Definitely bring bug spray. The shack with camping goods was on an honor system when I went, so be sure to have cash with you. A bundle of firewood was 6 dollars.

Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground Introduce

For outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a rustic, family-friendly retreat when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the northern reaches of New Hampshire, Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground in Pittsburg, NH, offers a distinct experience. Located at Hidden Acres Dr, Pittsburg, NH 03592, USA, this establishment provides a blend of camping and cabin accommodations, deeply integrated with the natural environment and local recreational opportunities.

Environment and Location

Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground is situated in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, a town renowned for its expansive wilderness, pristine lakes, and extensive trail systems. This "North Country" environment is characterized by its picturesque scenery, dense woods, and abundant wildlife, including the chance to spot moose, deer, and various bird species. The campground itself aims for a "wilderness feel" with spacious, grass-covered sites often separated by wooded areas, providing a sense of privacy. The location is a prime base for outdoor activities. Guests have easy access to the vast ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) trail system directly from the campground, making it a popular choice for riders. During winter, it also offers direct access to the state snowmobile trail system (e.g., state 142 snowmobile trail). Proximity to several prominent lakes, including Back Lake (within walking distance to a boat launch) and Lake Francis, makes it ideal for fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming. The Connecticut Lakes are also in the immediate area, offering more opportunities for water-based recreation. The Buck Rub Pub, a popular local establishment, is conveniently close, providing a dining option for campers. While the environment is natural and secluded, it's worth noting that due to the layout, conversations from other campers might be audible, as some reviews suggest a closer proximity between spots than anticipated. The overall setting is aimed at those who appreciate the outdoors and the tranquility of the New Hampshire woods, away from urban distractions.

Services and Amenities

Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground offers a range of services and amenities designed to cater to both campers and cabin guests, with a focus on creating a comfortable outdoor experience. Key amenities often include:

  • Campsites: The campground offers a total of 50 campsites, including options for RVs with 20 or 30-amp electrical hookups and water, as well as primitive (tent) sites. Many RV sites are grass-covered and can accommodate big rigs. Fire rings and picnic tables are typically provided at each site. Some RV sites are "partial hookup" implying water and electric but possibly no sewer at every site. A dump station is available for RV guests.
  • Cabins: The property features various cabin rentals, such as the "Hidden Acres Cabin" and the "Rabbit Run Cabin." These cabins are generally well-equipped, often including full kitchens, full baths, separate bedrooms (e.g., 2 or 3 bedrooms), queen beds, sleeper sofas, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and private decks with gas grills and outdoor fire pits. Some cabins, like Rabbit Run, may even feature a jacuzzi and fireplace.
  • Restrooms and Showers: A bathhouse with restrooms and showers is available for campground guests. While functional, guests are advised to manage expectations regarding luxury, as some reviews indicate minor issues like stalls not shutting completely.
  • Campground General Store: A small general store on-site provides camping goods, often operating on an honor system (so carrying cash for items like firewood is recommended). This store may also include a snack kitchen. Firewood bundles are available for purchase, with a bundle costing around $6.
  • Recreation: The campground offers various recreational facilities. These can include a seasonal swimming pool, two catch-and-release fishing lakes, an enclosed pavilion, horseshoe pits, paddle boats, kayaks, and a basketball court. Cornhole boards are also available for camper use.
  • Connectivity: Free Wi-Fi hotspot locations are provided throughout the campground, with 27 such spots mentioned in some sources. Cell service is also generally available in the cabin areas.
  • Utilities: An LP (propane) gas filling station is on-site.
  • Pet Policy: Pets are generally welcome in the campground and in some cabins (with a nightly fee and requiring crating when unattended in cabins). Pet waste disposal stations are provided, and there is typically a two-dog limit per site, with breed restrictions (e.g., no Rottweilers or Pitbulls).
  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The campground prides itself on being a "quiet family-owned facility with a casual and relaxing atmosphere tailored to the family camper," with planned activities and live bands for all ages during certain periods. A playground is available for children.
The staff is often described as accommodating and friendly, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.

Features of the Accommodations

The accommodations at Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground are designed to cater to different preferences, from traditional camping to more comfortable cabin stays.

Campsites:

  • Tent Sites: Designated spots for tent camping, often with a more rustic feel but with access to shared bathhouse facilities. These are smaller sites suitable only for tents.
  • RV Sites: Varying in size, these sites typically offer water and electric hookups (20/30 Amp) and often have grass pads. Many are "back-in" sites. Fire rings and picnic tables are standard. Some sites may only have water and electric, without sewer connections at every site. They can accommodate larger campers, but smaller tents or pop-ups can also utilize these sites for more space.

Cabins: The cabins offer a more "glamping" or vacation rental style experience, providing more amenities and comfort than traditional camping.

  • "Hidden Acres Cabin": This cabin is located at 29 Hidden Acres Road. It is typically a 2-bedroom, full-bath unit with sleeping arrangements that can include a queen sleeper sofa and two queen beds, comfortably accommodating 6-7 people. It includes a full-size kitchen, flat-screen TV, washer and dryer, a private deck with a gas grill, and an outdoor fire pit. It offers direct access to ATV and snowmobile trails.
  • "Rabbit Run Cabin": Located at 20 Rabbit Run Road, this is a larger and more luxurious option. It's often described as a 3-bedroom, 2-full-bath cabin with varied sleeping configurations (e.g., 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a twin bed/futon in a loft), capable of sleeping up to 12 people. Features a jacuzzi, fireplace, full-size kitchen, flat-screen TV, a private deck with a gas grill, and an outdoor fire pit. This cabin is at its own private location with a walking path through the woods to the Buck Rub Pub. It also has direct access to ATV and snowmobile trails.
  • Loft Cabins: These are newer "rough cut" cabins with lofts, typically accommodating 2 adults and 2 children. They feature a full kitchen, full bath, one bedroom with an extra bed or foldout couch, are mostly furnished, and include a screened porch. These are often situated close to the laundry room and pavilion and come with a fire ring and picnic table.
All cabins generally have cell service, Wi-Fi, and climate control (heat/air conditioning). Guests typically need to bring their own linens, utensils, drinking water, food, toiletries, and towels for cabins, as these are not supplied. Wood for fire pits is not included but can often be requested upon check-in. Tents are generally not allowed on cabin rental sites, and pets are typically not permitted in rental cabins, though some exceptions might apply with a fee.

Promotional Information

Booking inquiries can be made via phone at (603) 331-1912. Their website also provides detailed information on rates, rules, and cabin availability, and allows online booking. Customer Experiences and Considerations

Customer reviews for Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground generally paint a picture of a functional outdoor destination. Many guests appreciate the easy access to ATV trails and the proximity to local attractions like the Buck Rub Pub. The staff is often described as friendly and accommodating. Guests staying in cabins frequently praise them as "great" and appreciate the amenities like full kitchens and private decks. The spaciousness of RV sites with grass pads is also often highlighted. However, it's important for prospective visitors to consider all aspects from reviews. Some campground guests have noted that campsites can feel "little spots" where conversations from neighboring campers are clearly audible, suggesting a lack of significant natural sound barriers between some sites. Therefore, those seeking extreme seclusion might need to manage expectations or inquire about specific site layouts. Additionally, while the bathhouse is described as "pretty good," some functional issues like stalls not shutting completely have been mentioned. Given the natural setting, guests are strongly advised to bring bug spray. The honor system for the general store and firewood purchases highlights the rustic, trusting nature of the campground, reminding guests to carry cash. Overall, Hidden Acres Cabins and Campground is often seen as a solid choice for those prioritizing access to outdoor activities, particularly ATV and snowmobiling, and value a no-frills, community-oriented camping experience, while being mindful of potential noise and basic facilities.
