I recently stayed at the hotel while attending a wedding, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. A special thanks to Surya and her fantastic team—they went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that guests were well taken care of. The room was exceptionally comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, making it a perfect place to relax after the celebrations. Every detail, from the service to the amenities, contributed to a truly enjoyable stay. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for events like weddings. The team’s professionalism and hospitality made it a memorable experience.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Southington, Connecticut area, the Holiday Inn Cheshire - Southington by IHG, located at 64 Knotter Dr, Southington, CT 06410, USA, often appears as a prominent option. This hotel, part of the well-known IHG brand, presents a mixed bag of experiences based on recent customer feedback, ranging from highly positive for specific events to significantly challenging for extended stays. This introduction will provide an objective overview, incorporating both its strengths and reported weaknesses.
The environment of the Holiday Inn Cheshire - Southington appears to have two faces. For guests attending specific events like weddings, the initial impression can be very positive. The hotel’s aesthetic and comfort levels are described as suitable for such occasions, with rooms being "exceptionally comfortable, clean, and well-appointed." This suggests that the hotel is capable of providing a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere when operating optimally. However, for other guests, particularly those on extended stays, the environment can be less appealing. Reports of frequently wet floors on the first level and in the elevator due to the pool, coupled with noticeable carpet and decor wear in certain areas, suggest a less consistently maintained environment outside of the main guest rooms. Furthermore, the presence of marijuana odor in hallways and staff smoking at the front entrance detracts from the professional and fresh ambiance typically expected from an IHG property. The parking lot also presents environmental challenges, described as a "nightmare" with few available spaces and instances of individuals smoking marijuana, impacting guest safety and comfort.
Regarding services, there is a stark contrast in guest experiences. On the one hand, the staff, particularly Surya and her team, receive high praise for being "warm and welcoming," going "above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that guests were well taken care of," especially during events like weddings. This highlights a dedicated and professional aspect of the service. On the other hand, the hotel faces significant criticism for its responsiveness to maintenance issues and guest complaints. A clogged toilet requiring guests to plunge it themselves due to delayed maintenance, unfulfilled promises regarding noise complaints, and forgotten room service requests point to inconsistencies in operational efficiency. Furthermore, an instance of perceived dishonesty from a staff member regarding noise complaints and an unprofessional attitude during a conflict highlight serious lapses in consistent customer service, despite initial positive encounters. The recurring issue of room keys deactivating also indicates a recurring inconvenience for guests, requiring multiple trips to the front desk.
The features of the Holiday Inn Cheshire - Southington include an indoor pool, which is a key amenity for leisure travelers and families. While the pool itself is a draw, its impact on the surrounding areas (wet floors, elevator issues) needs consideration. Rooms are generally described as comfortable and well-appointed, equipped with standard amenities expected from a Holiday Inn. For those with early morning departures, the general Holiday Inn Express model typically includes complimentary breakfast, and while not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, it's a standard feature of the brand. The hotel's location is often cited as a positive, being "fond of the location," which implies convenient access to local attractions or business centers in Southington and Cheshire. The hotel's suitability for events like weddings suggests it has facilities to accommodate groups, potentially including meeting rooms or a banquet space, though details are not provided.
In terms of promotional information, the hotel's affiliation with IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is a significant marketing point, leveraging a global brand reputation for quality and loyalty programs. The positive reviews highlight its suitability for events and the exceptional efforts of certain staff members, which could be used in targeted promotions. However, the hotel faces challenges in maintaining a consistent quality experience across all guest types, which could impact its overall promotional messaging for the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. While it aims to project an image of comfort and convenience, the recent negative feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, noise control, and parking directly contradicts this. For example, promoting itself as a serene retreat might be difficult given the reports of hallway odors and noisy neighbors. Therefore, any promotional efforts must be carefully balanced with the reality of diverse guest experiences.
For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Southington area, the Holiday Inn Cheshire - Southington by IHG at 64 Knotter Dr, Southington, CT 06410, USA, offers a distinct dichotomy. While it has proven capable of delivering excellent service and a comfortable stay for specific occasions and with particular staff members (like Surya), recent experiences suggest significant and recurring issues with maintenance, noise management, overall cleanliness, and parking. This indicates a need for potential guests to weigh their priorities carefully. For short stays or events where initial staff interaction is paramount, it might still be a viable option. However, for extended stays or for guests prioritizing a consistently quiet, perfectly maintained, and problem-free environment, the reported issues warrant serious consideration. Contact can be made via phone at (860) 276-3100 or +1 860-276-3100 for direct inquiries and reservations. Prospective guests are encouraged to consult very recent reviews to get the most accurate picture of the hotel's current state before booking.

May 19, 2025 · Victor PopeUpdate: thank you for your patronizing response, however it would be difficult to contact you directly since you copy and pasted the response but forgot to add your contact information! We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions over the past few years and were fond of the location and general quality of the hotel for the price. This, however, changed after our stay which ended today. On our second day our toilet clogged. A housekeeper was sent up and plunged the clog away. The next morning as we were getting ready for church at 630 am, the toilet clogged again. When we called the front desk, the gentleman who could barely be understood due to a thick accent, told me maintenance would not be available until 8:00 am but he could bring up a plunger. He brought it up to our room and we had to plunge the toilet ourselves!! We were ready to pack up and leave then and there, but because we booked through a third party they could not give us a refund for the remaining 8 days of our reservation, instead they moved us to a new room. The room next door to us housed several children who were allowed to make all sorts of banging noises and ball bouncing at all hours of day and night. When we complained at 11 pm we were assured it would be taken care of. The incessant noise continued . When we travel we typically do not accept room service due to a medical device in our room, however after 7 nights we asked housekeeping to tidy our room before we left at 8:15 am. Upon returning to our room at 3 pm the room was just as we left it! She said she had forgotten and quickly came in to change sheets and tidy the bathroom. The noise continued with assurances from front desk staff (Surya)and also the hotel manager until finally with 3 days left on our 10 night stay they moved the noisy family to another room. ( This after another clerk inadvertently told us the noisy family had only been called once per records. When this was brought up to Surya she lied and said they had been called numerous times. My husband told her we had been told the truth and her attitude was not appreciated she responded with “ yours too sir”. This hotel has really gone south from previous stays- marijuana can be smelled in the hallways most nights even though it’s a non smoking facility and staff can often be seen smoking cigarettes outside the front entrance. Besides the toilet issue the showers do not drain quickly so you end up standing in dirty water while you bathe. The pool provides a source of constantly wet floors on the first level and the elevator. Parking is a nightmare with few avail spaces and there are often carloads of men smoking weed in the parking lot. Then to boot, our room keys stopped working on 2 occasions making it necessary to go back to the front desk for rekeying! Save yourself some frustration and stay elsewhere.
Apr 29, 2025 · Gina NorrisThe first issue was entering the room as my key card did not work. The supervisor on shift saw this on the secuirty camera and was nice to come up and assist me. He gave me a new key card, which he had issues opening the door with. He advised me that they had just changed the batteries in the door locks. Didn't seem like it. The two days that I was there, I had a hard time entering my room every single time. I had to try the key card over and over and over again and pray that it worked. The gym and pool was off limits as my card never worked there. Similar issue with the TV remote. What made it work was taking out the batteries and putting them back in again. Until it stopped working altogether. I used my computer for the rest of the time I was there to watch tv. I didn't even bother complaining about the remote seeing that they didn't care about the door he clearly saw had issues. The issue didn't end there. The walls seemed so paper-thin as I had to endure from the minute I checked in till late into the night blasting of music and television. This I did complain about, but still nothing was done. The next morning I woke up to a couple screaming. There were some cleanliness issues. First towel I unfolded had pubic hair, and my blanket had tears all over the bottom side of it so I was forced to use the sheet underto avoid the snags. I wish I didn't have these issues as the room gad an updated look and was spacious. I did have to request a non-connecting room as a solo female traveler. Just didn't feel safe. But the option is there is you want it and are traveling as a large family.
May 13, 2025 · Tali L.Nice hotel close to New Haven (20-30min driving). They have a swimming pool and a fitness center. Staff are very friendly and the breakfast is extremely good (a completely different level compared with other hotels). An insect was spotted in my room before I left though (it was floor 1).
Feb 09, 2025 · Haotan HanWe stayed for 2 nights in March 2025. We chose the location because it is near family. The rooms need updating, but they were clean and the staff was friendly. The food prepared in the small kitchen in the evening was tasty. The price was more than reasonable. It is not a luxury resort, but if you need a place to lay your head, it fits the bill.
