It is mind boggling how much sound travels between rooms. I literally thought the door between rooms was open. I could hear every word of these people’s conversation. Staff was not very effective at resolving the problem as it took about two hours to resolve (finally some quiet at 1am!). Which is wild because I have to assume they need to address issues like this often. Don’t stay here if you have to wake up early and work!

Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt Introduce

For local users in Nyack, NY, and the surrounding areas, the search for “Hotels Near Of Me” often brings up a variety of options. Among them, Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt, located at 400 High Ave, Nyack, NY 10960, USA, stands out for its distinctive concept rooted in the building’s industrial history. As a JDV by Hyatt property, it aims to offer a unique, boutique experience, departing from the typical chain hotel model. However, based on recent customer feedback, potential guests should be aware of specific aspects that may impact their stay.

Environment and Location:

Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt is situated on High Avenue in Nyack, NY. Nyack itself is a vibrant village known for its artistic community, charming downtown, river views, and historical significance. The hotel's location, particularly given its historical industrial roots, suggests an integration with the local character, potentially offering an urban or semi-urban experience within the village. The concept of the hotel leveraging its industrial history is a key environmental and thematic element, aiming to provide a distinct ambiance. While the immediate surroundings of 400 High Ave are not explicitly detailed, Nyack’s generally walkable and picturesque environment suggests that guests would have easy access to the village's unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, and the scenic Hudson River waterfront. The mention of a "cemetery nextdoor" in a review adds to the unique, perhaps edgy, character the hotel is aiming for.

Services and Amenities:

As a JDV by Hyatt property, Hotel Nyack aims to provide a personalized and locally inspired experience. While specific details about all services are not provided, customer reviews shed light on several key areas:

  • Room Service and On-Site Dining: A significant highlight mentioned by a guest is the hotel's restaurant. It was praised for its "reasonably priced menu" and "tasty food," with servers noted as "very friendly and attentive." This suggests that the culinary experience is a strong point of the hotel, providing a convenient and enjoyable dining option for guests.
  • In-Room Amenities: Rooms are equipped with mini-fridges, although a review points out that these are stocked with "overpriced beverages," making it "impossible to fit any of your own items inside." This can be a notable inconvenience for guests who prefer to bring their own drinks or store personal food items.
  • Crib/Pack-and-Play Availability: The hotel does offer cribs, though one review noted a negative experience with a "broken pack-and-play," indicating a potential need for better maintenance of these amenities for families with young children.
  • Staff Responsiveness: While the staff in the restaurant received high praise, the front desk's effectiveness in resolving a sound issue was critiqued, with a guest reporting it took "about two hours to resolve." This suggests inconsistency in problem-solving efficiency for certain issues.

For direct inquiries and reservations, guests can contact Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt at (845) 675-8700 or +1 845-675-8700.

Hotel Features:

Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt aims to offer a distinctive stay, drawing on its industrial heritage. However, customer feedback highlights both intended and unintended features:

  • Unique Design Concept: The hotel's "industrial history" is a core part of its identity, aiming to provide a unique aesthetic. However, elements like "skulls on the rugs" (attributed to the nearby cemetery) were perceived as "tacky and ridiculous" by one guest, suggesting that the execution of the theme might not resonate with all visitors.
  • Soundproofing Issues: A significant concern raised by a guest is the "mind boggling how much sound travels between rooms," indicating poor sound insulation. This could severely impact the comfort and peace of mind for guests, especially those needing to rest or work.
  • Bathroom Privacy Concerns: The design of the "rolling" bathroom doors in suites, which "roll across the door frame" and cannot be locked or secured, leading to them "shifting 1-3 inches open," is a major privacy flaw highlighted by a guest.
  • Child Safety Concerns: For families with toddlers, the presence of "so many electric cords and outlets" and "standing lamp glass chandeliers" that pose a safety hazard is a critical design flaw. Guests reported needing to "rearrange the furniture" to protect their child, indicating a lack of child-friendly design in some areas.
  • Freestanding Bathtubs: While stylish, the standalone bathtubs are a feature, but their appeal was overshadowed by functional issues like the bathroom doors.

These features, particularly the negative ones, are crucial for local users considering "Hotels Near Of Me," as they directly impact the practicality and comfort of a stay.

Promotional Information and Target Audience:

While specific promotional information is not provided in the reviews, as a JDV by Hyatt property, Hotel Nyack would likely participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program. This program offers various benefits, including:

  • Member Rates: Exclusive discounts for World of Hyatt members.
  • Points Earning and Redemption: Guests can earn points on stays and redeem them for free nights.
  • Tier Benefits: Higher tiers in the program offer perks like complimentary upgrades, late checkout (though one review suggests this may not be consistently smooth), and lounge access (if applicable).

Potential guests should check the official Hyatt website or contact Hotel Nyack directly at (845) 675-8700 to inquire about current promotions, packages, or special rates. Given the feedback, the hotel's target audience might be primarily:

  • Couples or Solo Travelers: Who appreciate unique, boutique aesthetics and are less concerned about child-proofing or kitchenettes.
  • Diners: Those specifically looking for a good restaurant experience within a hotel setting in Nyack.
  • Design-Conscious Travelers: Individuals who might appreciate the industrial-chic concept, provided they are aware of potential functional drawbacks.

The hotel might be less suitable for families with young children due to the safety concerns highlighted, and for business travelers or light sleepers due to the reported soundproofing issues. Individuals looking for a self-catering option or extended stays would also find the lack of kitchenettes and mini-fridge space problematic. In summary, Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt offers a distinct, design-driven experience for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Nyack. Its strong restaurant is a clear asset, but prospective guests should carefully consider the reported issues regarding sound transfer, bathroom privacy, and child safety before booking, especially if these factors are critical to their stay.

I grew up in the Mid-Hudson Valley, and was always curious about this hotel due to the building’s industrial history. I was really excited to visit for the first time last month — but I left feeling embarrassed that I suggested we stay here. The idea for this hotel really gives it a head start for potential success, but they have severely missed the mark. They do not have a single suite that includes a kitchenette, which is absurd because any hotel you go to nowadays has at least one option that has a standard microwave and induction stove. They have rooms with mini fridges, but they are stocked with overpriced beverages which makes it impossible to fit any of your own items inside. The bathroom doors inside the suites roll across the door frame and there is no way to lock them or secure them from shifting 1-3 inches open after you close them, which completely obliterates any sense of privacy. The freestanding bath tub was great, but I’d choose a bathroom door that actually closes over a stylish tub any day. I also did a jaw drop when I looked closer at the rugs in the room and realized they have skulls on them. I understand that they’re working off of the cemetery nextdoor, but it comes off as tacky and ridiculous. Another important thing to say: do NOT bring toddlers here. There were so many electric cords and outlets in our room, we had to rearrange the furniture just to keep our 1 year old away from things that would be dangerous. I have no idea who had the bright idea to put standing lamp glass chandeliers in the rooms, but they should be fired because of the anxiety I had trying to keep my daughter from shaking it and potentially knocking it over. We also requested a crib from the front desk and they brought us a broken pack-and-play, which was ridiculous. The only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star is because the restaurant was actually quite nice. The menu was reasonably priced, and the food was tasty. The servers were all very friendly and attentive to us from the time we walked in to the time we left. I wish the rest of the hotel was as nice as their restaurant, and they really could step up their game just by changing the things I described in this review.

Staff was friendly and nice and restaurant had decent food. The decor in the rooms is decent but the walls are so thin it is literally like your neighbors are in bed with you. Don’t expect to get any sleep if there are visitors staying on either side of you, you can literally hear EVERYTHING!! Can hear music from the 1st floor up on the 3rd floor with parties going on. Bring ear plugs!!! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! Nothing like several sleepless nights!

This is by far one of the nicest mid priced hotels I’ve ever stayed in and certainly one of the nicest Hyatt property’s. Rooms are large and spacious with a great mini bar. Hotel was once a vinyl record manufacturing facility so it has this cool industrial vibe. The bar is very nice and breakfast was quality with great selection. And breakfast staff and front desk were great. And if you’re lucky enough to get an east facing balcony view you see the sunrise over the Hudson. I highly recommend this hotel.

Have to say, I’ve had hit and miss times here. The newer staff is amazing. Really professional, conscientious, caring… they went out of their way. I’d like to recognize Angie, Brittany, Kate, and Thomas in particular. They all went above and beyond, and were happy to help and make sure we had a great stay. I stay at this hotel a lot, and this was by far my best experience yet. Thank you all.
