I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Phoenix Airport/Downtown. After a last-minute cancellation from another Wyndham property, I was left with no choice but to book a room at this location. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected, especially considering the price paid for one night. Here are the issues I encountered during my stay: 1. Room Condition: The room was in poor condition for the price I paid. The furniture was outdated and dirty, and there were noticeable gaps between the vanity and wall. Additionally, there was an item hanging behind the bathroom mirror, and the doorknob had exposed holes, indicating neglect and poor maintenance. The sink had cracks and no sink stopper. There was someone else's hair on the sink and on the toilet. The water did not get hot just luke warm. 2. Missing Amenities: There were no washcloths and no soap provided in the bathroom. Additionally, there was no iron and ironing board, which are typically expected amenities in a hotel room. The refrigerator, microwave and safe were outdate and discolored. 3. Poor Bed Quality: The mattress was old, uncomfortable, and felt worn down, as we could feel the springs through it. The pillows were equally disappointing—flat, old, and of very poor quality. We resorted to using our t-shirts for additional pillow protection. 4. Breakfast: The breakfast selection was minimal, offering only coffee and juice. I was expecting more variety, especially given the price paid for the stay. 5. Deposit: A $40 deposit was required, which was not communicated clearly at the time of booking, and it felt like an unnecessary additional charge. 6. The photos on the website are not an accurate depiction of the rooms. They do not have any carpet in the rooms and the bedding did not have the bottom orange throw blanket. While the desk clerk apologized for the hotel’s shortcomings, this did not make up for the overall disappointing experience. The cost for one night was $178 I believe that this hotel does not meet the standard of service expected from a Wyndham property.

Feb 18, 2025 · Jacquelyn GainerOverall a great room for the price we paid and the location we chose... They even did a great job of dealing with my wife's obligatory meltdown when it was time to checkout, at 12. Which was an hour later they provided for us cause WE special . Overall , I give them more than 5 out of 10 stars, I would stay here again but not really a bragging experience.
May 13, 2025 · Alexander DadamoTerrible experience. We checked in and got a room that was literally wrecked. Unsanitary bed sheets and broken toilet sink. We complained and they gave us their "Best Room" which was just marginally better than the one we initially got. The room was nothing like the photos. Smelled horribly. Wouldn't wish a minute stay in this hotel for my worst enemy. The front desk wasn't able to help us cancel the reservation because they couldn't get a hold of the manager. This hotel should not exist. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
Feb 16, 2025 · siavash taheriTo start with, the photos posted were to far from what the rooms actually look like. They completely misinform about the conditions in which this hotel is. Old and stained sheets, a broken iron, broken or non-working plugs, no hot water are some of the problems I found in my room. In addition to the keypad giving me access to the room not working properly, you have to play with the card to get it to work. This was the worst experience at ever had. Do not Stay on this Hotel !!
Apr 07, 2025 · Cinthia Magali Chavez MartinezMy husband had his car broken into and tens of thousands of dollars in mechanics tools stolen, along with other very valuable items. The owner had the audacity to blame it on him. The negligence and attitude of these people is absolutely unbelievable. Luckily, we have lawyers in the family. This place needs to be shut down.
