A college friend, who has been to Jay’s Resort many times over the past 25 years, said we should all go fishing for a week at Jays. He was undergoing cancer treatment and feared this might be our last opportunity. He booked a cabin in Dec ’23 for a June '24 visit and actually sent in too much money for the deposit. 31 days before the trip, he passed away. His daughter called Jay to tell them we had to cancel and a few weeks later she asked about a refund. She was told they, “didn’t have enough time to process ANY refund, partial or full, this was their busy season, don’t bother me!” A month later, after hearing about this, I contacted Jay, same story, busy taking people’s money but no time to refund anything. The only reason the family received any money back, about a year after it was sent, was I helped file a small claims action against him in Gogebic County Court. They only received a portion back, he would never say at the hearing if he was able to rent out the cabin… Shady operation and a deceitful person. This is how you treat repeat customers and their families when a loved one passes??! Shameful

This is a beautiful resort on a beautiful lake. Maintenance and cleaning needs to be improved. We camped here in a FHU site for to nights. There are many cabins, small playground, beach, boat docks, boat and jet ski rentals, etc.

EDIT: Please see review below and Response from the owner. Nothing in his response addressed anything listed in my review. May I also say that I, nor did anyone in my family sue Jays resort. We were not associated in a lawsuit in any way shape or form. This is the most dysfunctional “resort” around. I have been going here since I was a little girl for our annual fishing trip. I’m now in my 30s and I can honestly say it has gone WAY downhill in the last 10 years. The customer service is horrendous, and they never follow through on their word; we had to bring dirty sheets from the previous stay to the office because no one ever came to get them, collecting garbage 3 days later than they said, not providing enough bedding for the beds they provide. We obviously made our own fun because we love the lake… but the last straw was when I had to call and cancel our trip over a month in advance because my father had passed away. I spoke with Jay directly on the day of his passing, and he proceeded to laugh on the phone and tell me how this was a big inconvenience for him. I repeat, my father passing was an inconvenience to him. I was in no way seeking sympathy and didn’t even request a refund during that call, but that is absolutely no way to speak to customers- ESPECIALLY loyal ones who have been going there over 25 years. Please don’t give them the time, you will have a MUCH better time going to vacationland up the road!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the pleasure of staying at Jay's Resort, and I can’t say enough good things about this beautiful place! 🌲🏞️ The natural beauty surrounding the resort is absolutely breathtaking. From the stunning lakes to the lush forests, every view feels like a postcard. I enjoyed peaceful mornings sipping coffee on the deck, and the sunsets were truly magical. Whether you’re hiking, fishing, or simply relaxing, you’ll find plenty to love about the scenery. But what really makes Jay's Resort special is the incredible people. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. They were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to offer recommendations for activities and local secrets. The sense of community here is palpable, and I felt so at home! If you're looking for a place to unwind and connect with nature while being surrounded by amazing people, Jay's Resort is the spot. I can’t wait to return! 💙✨

Beware! My family and parents have stayed here together a few times. We were supposed to stay from July 20-27 this year. Unfortunately, my grandma (and dad’s mom) died July 18. Obviously we had to cancel. Jay has refused to refund our $1600 deposit and has refused to let us move the reservation to a different week. Dad was told that he does refunds “for unusual circumstances.” I think the death of someone’s mother is the epitome of an unusual circumstance! Horrendous customer service!
