The place was secluded, it's 7 miles down a twisting (well paved road) to get there. At night it was dead quiet and dark except for the dock lights by the lake. The air was refreshing, and clean. The location was perfect. The grass was well manicured around the cabin and common spaces. We didn't go to fish, but my daughter caught her first fish ever from the dock. I thought it was cool that you could rent a boat and they would drive it straight to your dock - not something I wanted to do but a benefit that I appreciated. The cabin was clean, dishes were clean. Beds were well made with plenty of covers and some extra covers and pillows. It all smelled clean. There were some fit and finish issues with the cabin such as one of the bedroom doors not closing and the bathroom door rubbing the floor but nothing serious. The furniture and beds were comfy. We did find a dog toy under the couch that was not ours - that was the extent of the unusual. Me and my family where there for four days. It was nice, relaxing, quiet and beautiful. We sat and watched the sunset over the lake. Our first night a massive storm blew through and blotted out all the stars and we might as well have been floating in a void somewhere without a single marker outside our cabin to guide us. It was a great stay and considering it cost about the same as a hotel it was worth traveling back there every night even from the most far-flung parts of the UP. The requirements from us were spelled out on a printout on the refrigerator; take out the trash, leave the beds unmade, do your dishes - nothing unexpected. It was also great that we could bring our dogs.

Sep 03, 2023 · Robert VincentMe and my wife and a friend had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Loon cabin. The kitchen is well furnished and even had a crock pot for my wife to make chili. Great time fishing on a beautiful lake. The resort was very accommodating when we had boat trouble and they upgraded us to a bigger boat at no extra charge. And Angela at the Lodge was always so helpful. Thank you for a great time. Terry Grapengieser
Sep 02, 2023 · Terry GrapengieserOur family just returned from spending a week at Wilderness Bay Lodge. Everything about our stay was amazing! Our group of 9 stayed in the deer cabin. It was so nice and clean too! This place is not only people friendly but dog friendly! We all had an amazing time. We thoroughly enjoyed our get away and we think you will too! We are looking forward to our next visit.
Aug 22, 2021 · Kory GoebelStayed in the Eagle Cabin this past summer and had a great time! They just installed a nice, large dock which will help with docking more boats. The cabin was nice, with decent wifi, and a roku. The shower was great with really good water pressure. The cabins are pretty close to each other which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it easily allows you to talk with other guests. The place is also very close to a boat launch which is great if you are bringing your own boat. There were some negatives though. The store didn't have the longest hours as I think it closed around 4pm most days. This really isn't a big deal as you can obviously pack anything you need or go into Watersmeet and get things at the Grocery store. We didn't see the manager a ton, especially with the online check-in through their new app. Again, this isn't a terrible thing as we had everything we needed, but I'm used having the manager/owner 'check in' on a daily basis. I actually don't like the online check-in for this purpose. I'd rather meet with someone at check-in so I know who to talk to if something goes wrong with the cabin. The last issue I will write about is the price. We paid around $1800 for the week, but it looks to be about $3000 for a week next summer. 3k for a 2 bedroom cabin is just a little steep so we will be looking at different options moving forward. Overall it was a great place, it was clean and well maintained, but I hope they don't go 'corporate' and price out normal families.
Aug 18, 2022 · Jason VandeKoppleDan and Laura and Melissa treat you like family. A real bonus is that Wilderness Bay is dog friendly so we bring our Labs and they love swimming there. We will return for our fourth and fifth trips here this next winter and spring. Everything you need in a housekeeping cottage and also power at the dock to plug your boat in. Dan and Laura are working tirelessly to improve the resort and it shows. I’m not kidding when I say they treat you like family and if you need something they get it for you. Top shelf people who get it!
