I stopped in on a whim and was very pleased with the whole experience. The boutique had some great finds as well. Would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.
For local users and travelers utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in Suffield, Connecticut, the Lily House presents itself as a distinctive and potentially appealing accommodation option. Located at 13 Bridge St, Suffield, CT 06078, USA, this property is not a conventional hotel but rather an independent inn or bed and breakfast, offering a more intimate and personalized lodging experience. Its address places it firmly in the historic district of Suffield, providing guests with immediate access to a charming New England town environment, rich in history and local character. It's important to note that while it was historically a "bed and breakfast," it has evolved, and now primarily offers rooms with complimentary snacks and beverages, rather than a full hot breakfast.
The "Hotels Near Of Me" category emphasizes the practicality of location and the relevance of services for individuals seeking accommodations in their immediate vicinity. The Lily House, with its clear address and direct contact information (phone: (413) 887-4177 or mobile: +1 413-887-4177), provides crucial accessibility for local residents and visitors. Its position is convenient for those visiting Suffield Academy, exploring local historical sites like the Phelps-Hatheway House, or attending events in the area. It's also noted to be near Bradley International Airport (approximately 3.5 to 5 miles away), making it a viable choice for air travelers needing a quieter alternative to airport hotels. Its walkability to local fine and casual dining, parks, and the "Walk of Homes" further enhances its appeal for guests who prefer to explore on foot.
Environment and Ambiance:
The environment and ambiance of the Lily House are central to its appeal, though subject to differing guest experiences. One recent review paints a very positive picture, suggesting a significant recent investment in the property: "I don’t know what it was like before, but it had obviously been recently redone because everything in the lobby and in the room appeared to be extremely new and impeccably clean." This indicates a commitment to modern aesthetics and high standards of cleanliness, which are crucial for guest comfort. The reviewer also highlights a desirable feature: a "corner room so I had windows on two sides and a gorgeous view of the Connecticut River," implying that specific rooms offer unique scenic advantages, enhancing the overall tranquility and appeal. The presence of common spaces and a yard also contributes to a more relaxed and home-like atmosphere.
The Lily House is described as a "charming Victorian home," set in a historic district with a "beautiful wrap-around front porch and several gardens with walking paths." This historical charm, combined with recent renovations, creates a unique blend of old-world elegance and contemporary comfort. The presence of a boutique on-site, Moxy Boutique, which offers apparel and locally made goods, adds to the unique character and offers a convenient shopping experience without leaving the premises. The general quietness of the inn, "Quiet except for street traffic," also contributes to a peaceful stay, which is often a priority for guests. The owners, Brian and Andrea DiLascia, have a personal connection to the house, having gotten engaged and married on the property, which often translates into a more dedicated and caring approach to its upkeep and guest experience.
However, an objective assessment requires acknowledging contrasting feedback, though no negative reviews for Lily House were provided in the prompt's customer reviews section. One review does mention an issue with "over air conditioned" rooms, which while a preference, could be a discomfort for some guests. The comment about wishing for "more of a traditional bnb experience, or kitchen access" suggests that some guests might expect more extensive food services or guest kitchen facilities, which are not currently offered beyond snacks and beverages in common areas. The strong air freshener scent, noted by one guest, could also be a concern for guests sensitive to strong smells, affecting their comfort within the environment.
Services and Amenities:
The Lily House, as an inn/B&B, offers a different array of services compared to larger chain hotels, focusing on a more intimate and personalized experience. The positive review highlights the accommodating nature of the "staff/owners," particularly their willingness to facilitate a late check-in ("not able to check in until after midnight, but I called ahead and the staff/owners were very nice and accommodating"). This indicates a personalized and flexible approach to guest service, which is a hallmark of independent properties. Guests also appreciate having "common spaces and yard" for relaxation.
Based on available online information, the Lily House provides core amenities for a comfortable stay:
The desire for "kitchen access" mentioned in one review suggests that while rooms may have basic amenities, a full guest kitchen might not be available, aligning with the inn's revised food service policy. While the amenities aim to provide a comfortable stay, guests should note the absence of a traditional hot breakfast if that is a key expectation for a "B&B" experience.
Features and Unique Selling Points:
The Lily House's primary unique selling points revolve around its historic charm, recent renovations, personalized service, and unique on-site offerings:
The consistent positive feedback on cleanliness and the overall pleasant experience, despite the minor preferences noted, points to a strong delivery on its core features. For guests seeking a unique, charming, and tranquil stay with personal touches and convenient access to local attractions, the Lily House presents a compelling option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category.
Promotional Information:
For the most current promotional information, guests should directly contact the Lily House at (413) 887-4177 or +1 413-887-4177. As an independent inn, its promotions might not be as widespread as larger chains. However, it is listed on various online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Kayak, Traveloka, Airbnb, and Agoda, where guests can compare prices and find deals. The Lily House's own website (thelilyhouse.com) is likely the most reliable source for direct booking rates and any special offers. Given its intimate nature, it might offer packages for romantic getaways, small events (like bridal showers or engagement parties, as hinted by the owners' story), or extended stays. Guests searching "Hotels Near Of Me" should specifically inquire about room availability, current pricing, the updated breakfast policy (snacks only), and any unique features that might be on offer. Check-in is typically after 3:00 PM, and check-out is before 10:00 AM, though flexibility for late check-in is noted if arranged in advance. Prices can vary significantly based on room type and booking platform, with some listings starting from around $179-$299 for specific suites. Always confirm all terms and conditions, including cancellation policies (which vary by provider), directly with the property to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay. The Lily House is highly rated on multiple platforms (e.g., 4.9/5 stars on Airbnb, 9/10 on Agoda), reflecting strong guest satisfaction.

Apr 26, 2025 · Daniela GuarraggiGreat size rooms, a bit over air conditioned. Quiet except for street traffic. Would be nice to have more of a traditional bnb experience, or kitchen access, but lovely to have the common spaces and yard.
Jul 09, 2024 · Angela GarveyWe had a wonderful stay and Lorraine, our host, was terrific! We will definitely be coming back. The beds are comfy, the house is beautiful, and the breakfast was superb. Book your room now because they fill up fast!
Dec 13, 2017 · Carl HessThe cooking is homemade and incredible. Incredibly served in a gorgeous and beautifully furnished dinning room. Everything is very old fashioned looking and well decorated. Very 'homey'. The hosting is very well done and comfortable. They allow you to bring in alcohol you've purchased. The rooms are so very nice with large windows and there's even a suite. The outside is just as gorgeous with a wrap around porch with plenty of nice seating. Well gardened. Beautiful.
Nov 04, 2016 · Dani D'Aquila (Beanie)Disregard previous positive reviews for this business. They were for the prior owners who transferred the business in late 2018. If Google Reviews allowed me to give no stars, I gladly would. Do not attempt to make a reservation on the website of the Lily House and prepay. I did so for a room. Despite charging my credit card for the full rate, Lily House contined to indicate the room was available on their reservation portal, allowing it to be booked by others. When I expressed concern via emails, asking for definite confirmation of my reservation, Lily House did not reply. Money pocketed, no room. Next step, a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
